The holidays were a reminder that you were a failure. You loathed going home, even if it was just a short drive to the other side of town. Each year it was the same thing, your parents doted over the achievements of your siblings and the grandchildren while you’d sit quietly drinking in the back with crazy Aunt Mabel who didn’t even know what year it was. Joan and Archer, your parents, were very good at ignoring your existence unless it was to criticize your lifestyle, or less than lucrative profession of Librarian at a local community college.  Dread was the only word to describe how you felt this morning when you realized there was only four days until Thanksgiving. Between patrons, you blankly stared at the calendar on your computer. At lunch, you mindlessly pushed your food around, unable to eat as anxiety took over. You didn’t even look up when Cate and Randall join you at the table.  “Earth to Y/N.” Randall waved a hand in front of your face.  You shook your head and met his gaze, “Sorry, I didn’t sleep well.” The lie easily slipped past your lips.  He clasped his hands together, “So, the kids have been talking about this Craigslist ad all morning.“  “What is it? Man searching for a woman to rub his feet while wearing a French maid costume? Must have DDs and the ability to hold her breath for long periods of time?” Cate joked between bites of her salad.  Randall laughed while pulling up the ad on his phone. “Close, but no cigar! It’s parental revenge.” You sat upright, suddenly interested in the conversation.  “Let me see that.” You reached for Randall’s phone and read over the ad.
