this is so hard!!! i think i would have to go with reading my favorite book? my favorite book is probably the illustrated man by ray bradbury and i think i have read it so many times i could tell you all of the stories from memory. but music! man i don't think i could go without it. i have a playlist called "desert island discs" based on a podcast i love where guests select 8 tracks to bring with them on a desert island and i can never get it below 30 songs. so, yeah. i need 'em all!!!! (a select few are night moves by bob seger, honest wage by penny and sparrow, land of hope and dreams by bruce springsteen, rhapsody in blue by George gershwin performed by the london symphony orchestra, four strong winds by neil young, London city by foy vance, IT GOES ON AND ON I CANT STOP)

🐝 i need a look inside your brain while writing NGAW pls pls pls

ah...my darling no good at waiting. this was the first long fic i wrote for this blog! i guess something interesting about the process is i did a lot of background prep -- basically what i do when i write a manuscript. i made character sheets for everyone, not just reader and steve, and i made setting sheets for all of the shops even though we were just seeing the booths at the farmer's market. i wrote out timelines for each character and made sure i understood how they got to where we meet them in the story. i basically wrote little bios for people who only showed up a few times -- nancy, Jonathan, eddie, etc -- which was fun and a lot of work, lol. but it was useful! it really immersed me in the au and made me feel really confident about writing it. i still have all the notes! the prep is often easier than the actual writing and is a great way to procrastinate :)

so, in a way, i have a lot of affection for the story but not all of it is reserved for steve and bee girl! lots of it goes to pieces of the story that no one else ever saw.
