I watched the movie "The Taste of Things" recently and at the end of it one of the characters quotes Saint Augustine as having said "Happiness is continuing to desire what one already has" which has stuck in my brain since I heard it. And I was also reminded of it again just now, as I started to make another playlist in iTunes, because I thought "why am I doing this, I should learn how to do things in Spotify like everyone else" but then I thought, you know what, I still have the ability to make playlists in iTunes and I still want to do it that way despite it being out of date, and it still gives me a lot of enjoyment to make them and then name them, and I think that's what happiness is.

you never know what someone is going through. for instance i didnt know i was going through anything until about 2 years later. i thought i was just chilling

I have been sort of agitating to add an additional position at work because there's two of us (well, there's just me and a temp right now so like 1.75 of us) and the workload has increased like crazy over the past 2-3 years. And I think I might have finally succeeded! I sent an email to some high up people and then some other high up people got cc-ed to it and some strong words were had about why we haven't increased the budget to hire additional staff and then I checked my e-mail just now (because I don't want to come back to work on Monday at 9am with 170 (!) unread emails after being out for just 5 days) and I have an email from my manager labeled IMPORTANT about how he needs to meet with me on Monday ASAP so I can help him write something up to submit for funding for an additional position!

(Last Friday one of the directors forwarded me his response that I was not originally included on with the words "This was my response. I will get you help. I am annoyed. Have a good weekend." and I keep reading it in Spock's voice)
