How old was Misaki Jinguji?
Fudo Aikawa: 17-18
Hayato Ojino: 19
Misaki Jinguji: ?
Haru Arisugawa: 15
Daigo Todoroki: 23
Misaki Jinguji is a supporting character in the series Love After World Domination. She transforms into Yellow Gelato
Well, this is mostly just extrapolation based on random fun facts I know, but if I had to guess, Misaki is at MINIMAL 20 years old.
In Japan, the minimal drinking age is 20. Since we see her drunk, we can at least infer her minimal age being 20 years old. She’s probably a little older, but at minimal, she’d have to be 20 to legally drink in Japan.

I hope this helps!

What I Plan to Watch: Spring 2022
So with the Winter anime wrapping up and the Spring anime approaching, I went through the upcoming titles on MAL and tried to narrow down a few choices.
Tumblr media
Suffice to say I shall be dying.
But fear not! I will try very hard to watch as much of the Spring Season as possible.
Tumblr media
So follow along with me as we try to go over briefly what I plan to watch this coming season. To make things a little easier, I’ll be sorting them by week of estimated release, while also keeping OVAs, ONAs, and Movies separate. Once the list is finalized I shall be updating my “Currently Watching” list.
Also, I’m not going to go over the synopsis of each show in this post. We’d be here too long. So I’m just going to list the names, their estimated air date, and if you want to look them up later or you want to message me in the inbox about them after reading this post, you can do that.
Without further ado, let’s get to it!

With the Spring Anime upon us and winter wrapping up, I’ll be putting together my final thoughts on Winter 2022 anime soon, and then making a list of anime I’m planning to follow through the Spring Season.
Expect this list later tonight.

I find it a little amusing that this happened to be the connection between the two.
Still, it’s lovely seeing how excited the Ousama Ranking fandom is over the Spanish dub. I love seeing how happy everyone is about it. Makes me smile seeing it.

Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2022 results are in!
And it was....underwhelming as hell. No stream. No buildup. No nothing.  Just dropped the list of winners with no fanfare. No acceptance speeches. Nothing. And that does not sit right with me somehow. Why no actual awards show this year? They somehow made it work last year even with the restrictions. I don’t know.
On top of that, despite knowing what to mostly expect, I still somehow come out disappointed this year. I’d argue and say this was probably the most disappointing Crunchyroll Anime Awards yet just looking at the numbers.
Tumblr media
I suppose I should talk about my thoughts on this.
So, under the cut, we have my thoughts on this year’s winners of the Anime Awards.
Before I get into it in full, I wanna take a moment to list the winners of VA performances for languages I didn’t watch anime in. I have no opinions but for the final breakdown I feel its important to list them.
BEST VA PERFORMANCES INTERNATIONAL
Russian: Islam Gandzhaev (Ислам Ганджаев) as Tanjiro Kamado -  Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
German: René Dawn-Claude as Satoru Gojo - JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Portuguese: Léo Rabelo as Satoru Gojo - JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
French: Enzo Ratsito as Tanjiro Kamado - Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
Castilian:  Marcel Navarro as Tanjiro Kamado - Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
Spanish: Irwin Daayán as Rengoku Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
BEST VA PERFORMANCE (ENGLISH) WINNER:
David Wald as Adam in Sk8 the Infinity
To be honest, I don’t have much to say here other than I feel this might have mostly been done for the meme. David Wald got some of the best lines in the whole show, the most iconic one being “Hey bitches and bros and non binary hoes!” I think this win was influenced by the memes from the dub script.
But regardless of the meme, I still found it an enjoyable performance and well deserving of the win.
BEST VA PERFORMANCE (JAPANESE) WINNER:
Yuki Kaji as Eren Jeager in Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
In my recap I did say I expected this. But at the same time I still find it disappointing. Perhaps it’s just me, but I found Aoi Yuki and Natsume Hanae’s voice works to be far more compelling. Especially when you compare Natsume Hanae’s speaking voice from last year’s award show to his voice as Odokawa.
BEST FILM WINNER:
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
I saw Mugen Train on the big screen, and agree it was a phenomenal film. If I had seen most of the others, I probably would have leaned more towards one of them, but I am satisfied with this win.
Given that Belle hadn’t really started coming out until very late in the year last year, I think it might have been better had it been added to the 2023 awards. Recency bias is sadly a thing and I can already predict people will be calling foul if it’s not listed there.
BEST COMEDY WINNER
Komi Can’t Communicate
Not much to say. Pretty satisfied.
BEST FANTASY WINNER
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Season 2)
Pleasantly surprised. Congrats to Slime! While To Your Eternity was my personal favorite to win, I’m still happy with this result.
Though I still stand by that I think Isekai need to be given their own category.
BEST ACTION WINNER
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Kind of expected this. Though I have only seen clips of this show and had other favorites to win, I can agree it’s a well deserved win for Jujutsu Kaisen.
BEST DRAMA WINNER
To Your Eternity
OH MY GOD YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY THIS MAKES ME.
I wanted this anime to win something and seeing it beat out Fruits Basket and Odd Taxi? Amazing.
BEST ROMANCE WINNER
Horimiya
I’ll be honest...I forgot about Horimiya when making my initial list. Which is odd because it was one of my favorite airing shows I watched last year. Mayhaps others just stuck out more as the year went on.
Still, this was a packed category and it’s a well deserved win.
BEST FIGHT SCENE WINNER
Yuji Itadori & Aoi Todo vs. Hanami - Jujutsu Kaisen
No complaints. Kind of wanted it to go to Vivy or Dragon Maid personally, but the fights in JJK are phenomenal.
BEST ANTAGONIST WINNER
Eren Jaeger - Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Honestly, this was probably the weakest category this year. There really weren’t that many good antagonists that really stood out.
Still, I think I’d have preferred any of the other candidates over Eren.
BEST PROTAGONIST WINNER
Odokawa - OddTaxi
HELL FUCKING YES
Listen, most of the protagonists this year were stellar and I’d have been happy if one of the other new characters won, but Odokawa was an Amazing protagonist and deserved this spot so much. I’m very pleased.
BEST CHARACTER DESIGN WINNER
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
This one left me a little disappointed because there were three anime I feel had far better character design worthy of this award. That’s not to say JJK’s designs aren’t good. They’re phenomenal.
But for SK8, everyone has a very bold and unique style. For Ranking of Kings, it’s the most visually different out of all the nominations. And OddTaxi? I can’t even get into it without going into spoilers because that’s how genius it is.
Congrats to JJK but at the same time, I’m a little sad.
BEST DIRECTOR WINNER
Baku Kinoshita - ODDTAXI
No complaints. This was an excellently directed series and well deserving of the win.
BEST SCORE WINNER
Yuki Kajiura and ‎Go Shiina - Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I adore this OST and listen to it often. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina make an unstoppable team.
But at the same time, Vivy had music that was amazing and well deserving of the win. It’s literally an anime about music and humanity. It feels wrong not to give it to Vivy.
BEST GIRL WINNER
Nobara Kugisaki - JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
There were a lot of Best Girls this year, so this was a hard fight.
Still, congrats to JJK for this win!
BEST GIRL WINNER
Bojji - Ranking of Kings
LET’S GO BOJJI!!!!
There were a lot of good boys but BOJJI WAS THE BEST OF THEM THIS YEAR!
The only downside to Bojji winning this year is that it won’t be fair to nominate him again for the 2023 awards.
BEST ENDING SEQUENCE WINNER
Shirogane by LiSA - Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
This was a pretty tough category, and while I’m sad Beastars didn’t win this one, this is a well deserved win as well.
BEST OPENING SEQUENCE WINNER
Boku no sensou by Shinsei Kamattechan - Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Probably my biggest disappointment on this list because in all honesty, this was not a very good OP compared to the others listed.
BEST ANIMATION WINNER
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc - Studio: ufotable
Another confliction.
On one hand, I adore Demon Slayer. And the animation in this arc was wonderful.
On the other hand, We literally had a KyoAni anime listed that had amazing animation and it didn’t get the win.
And while I’m not a fan of Mushoku Tensei or Wonder Egg Priority, even I’d have to be a fool not to acknowledge their amazing animation.
This one will haunt me in ways I cannot fathom.
ANIME OF THE YEAR WINNER
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1 - Studio: MAPPA
My biggest disappointment.
Look, I’m sorry to any fans of Attack on Titan. But literally all the other anime listed were far more deserving of this award than Attack on Titan.
So now that personal thoughts are out of the way, let’s look at the breakdown.
Anime with multiple wins are:
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc (both movie and episodic version listed for simplicity) - 8 wins
Jujutsu Kaisen - 6 wins
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1 - 4 wins
Odd Taxi - 2 Wins
Anime with solo wins are:
Ranking of Kings
To Your Eternity
SK8 The Infinity
Komi Can’t Communicate
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
Horimiya
This...feels so unbalanced. This feels so wrong somehow.
Even if you took the VAs other than Japanese and English out of the equations, we’d still be left with this.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc (both movie and episodic version) - 4 wins
Jujutsu Kaisen - 4 wins
Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1 - 4 wins
Odd Taxi - 2 Wins
Somehow, this was both one of the most balanced, yet most unbalanced Anime Awards out of all the ones Crunchyroll has ever done.
Out of 20 categories (not including other VAs) three franchises took 12 of those. That’s 60%
Including every VA category, here are 26 categories altogether.
And the three big shonen titles took 18 of them.
18 out of 26
That’s 70% of the awards divided between three anime.
And with Odd Taxi taking too wins, that leaves just 6 to be spread among the remainders.
This isn’t even meme worthy like with the very first two Anime Awards.
This is just sad.
And while some of these wins by the shonen anime were pretty well deserved, it still feels as though they’re overshadowing many great shows that deserved the spotlight this year.
As much as I enjoy Demon Slayer. As much as we all like big shonen anime.
Something needs to change.
I’ll probably make a separate post discussing options for an improved Award Show.
But for now, I am going to try and not think about this one anymore. Maybe get a snack. Yeah, snacks sound good.

Certainly more daunting than I expected, but I wanna finally do it.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards:  Nominees and Predictions
So the voting period for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards has begun, and I’m pretty excited. While I haven’t watched all of the shows and movies currently listed, and I still have some issues with some of the choices regarding nominees, I think this year is going to be pretty solid.
Now, I’m going to go through all the categories starting from the bottom and working my way up to Anime of the Year, pick my favorites, and also make a prediction on who I think will actually win.
Please keep in mind that these are my own silly personal opinions and you are welcome to ignore them if I say something you might not agree with. Or free to agree with them if we happen to share some thoughts. Its up to you.
Also, again, putting the listing under cut so as not to clutter the dash.
There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s dive in.
Tumblr media
BEST FILM NOMINEES
BELLE
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
Shirobako the Movie
Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop
What I hope to win:
Shirobako the Movie
BELLE
What I expect to win:
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time
BELLE
What will surprise me if it does win:
Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish
Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop
I have not seen all the movies on the list, but basing my thoughts on how the voting went the last time the Best Film category was implemented, it’s more likely to go to a movie in an established franchise, or has a very high profile director attached to it.
While I adore Shirobako, I don’t think a lot of people watched the movie. Demon Slayer and Evangelion are huge franchises, and BELLE is an amazing spectacle that I definitely consider one of Mamoru Hosoda’s best films. Though if Josee or Soda Pop end up winning, I will be pleasantly surprised as I don’t remember ANYONE talking about those films.
BEST FANTASY
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Cour 1)
Ranking of Kings
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Season 2)
The Case Study of Vanitas
To Your Eternity
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Ranking of Kings
To Your Eternity
What I expect to win:
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Cour 1)
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What will surprise me if it does win:
The Case Study of Vanitas
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (season 2)
Now anyone who knows me knows how much I love Ranking of Kings. I genuinely think it’s one of the best fantasy series out right now. And To Your Eternity’s first episode alone absolutely shattered me.
THAT BEING SAID:
I do think that it’s more likely that either Wonder Egg or Mushoku Tensei are going to claim this title on the sheer fact that they were probably two of the biggest names in the 2021 Anime cycle. Ranking of Kings is getting there, but it still has a long climb ahead of it. And sadly, I didn’t see anyone talk about To Your Eternity once the show’s first season wrapped up.
As for Slime and Vanitas? Slime is a big name, but I’ll admit I don’t think it had quite the splash it needed in comparison to the other two I expect to win. Though if it does, it wouldn’t surprise me too much. Vanitas on the other hand? I will be shocked if it gets the win. Simply because compared to the others, I think Vanitas is the least watched currently. Plus, for a while I know a lot of anime circles have been having Vampire burnout. So it’ll be interesting if it does end up winning.
BEST ROMANCE
BEASTARS
Fruits Basket The Final Season
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
Horimiya
Komi Can’t Communicate
The Duke of Death and His Maid
What I hope to win:
Komi Can’t Communicate
What I expect to win:
Fruits Basket The Final Season
What will surprise me if it does win:
The Duke of Death and His Maid
BEASTARS
I think for Romance it’s going to be tough to figure out who might win, but since it is its Final Season, I feel like Fruits Basket will probably win this one (and potentially sweep other categories since its the last season). If not, then probably Komi, since it was one of the most talked about anime even before it actually aired. I haven’t seen it yet, but I think the premise makes for a cute love story.
Did anyone watch The Duke of Death? Is it any good? I completely forgot it existed. I know it’s probably on my Plan to Watch.
Also, the latest season of Beastars definitely didn’t have very much Romance in it. Unless you’re hardcore on Louis/Legoshi, in which case, I can definitely see it. But it really felt that Legoshi and Haru’s love story took more of a back seat this season in comparison to the first.
BEST DRAMA
86 EIGHTY-SIX
Fruits Basket The Final Season
Kageki Shojo!!
ODDTAXI
To Your Eternity
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
ODDTAXI
To Your Eternity
What I expect to win:
Fruits Basket The Final Season
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What will surprise me if it does win:
Kageki Shojo!!
I think out of all the anime on this list, Kageki Shojo is by far the most underrated. And it would be delightful if it won. But personally, I feel it’d be criminal if either Odd Taxi or To Your Eternity didn’t get this one. Odd Taxi was a dramatic ride of mystery and intrigue, and To Your Eternity’s first episode alone should be enough to get this award.
But then again, Wonder Egg was the more talked about show in comparison. And it is Fruits Basket’s final season. So it’s more likely that Fruits Basket is going to take this category.
BEST COMEDY
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
Heaven’s Design Team
Komi Can’t Communicate
Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
ODDTAXI
What I hope to win:
N/A
What I expect to win:
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
Komi Can’t Communicate
What will surprise me if it does win:
ODDTAXI
Heaven’s Design Team
Odd Taxi had some nice chuckles (looking at you Bruce Springsteen), but I wouldn’t really say it’s a comedy. Unless we’re going for the more classic meaning of the word. Also, I don’t remember anyone really watching Heaven’s Design Team, which is sad because the premise alone is fun.
But the differences in the type of comedy on display make it so that regardless of who wins, I’ll be pleased.
BEST ACTION
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
SSSS.DYNAZENON
Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
What I expect to win:
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
SSSS.DYNAZENON
While I haven’t properly watched all of these (just Vivy and Mugen Train), I have watched enough clips of the fight scenes that I think I can take a guess as to where things will go. I won’t be particularly upset for the most part because all the fights are honestly really worthy of praise. Though I do think most of Attack of Titan’s fight scenes have gotten kinda stale.
Though it will be interesting to see the reaction if SSSS. DYNAZENON took the win, since it’s the underrated one on the list I think.
ENDING SEQUENCE
Shogeki – Yuko Ando – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yasashii Suisei – YOASOBI – BEASTARS
Shirogane – LiSA – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
Nai Nai – ReoNA – SHADOWS HOUSE
Infinity – YUURI – SK8 the Infinity
Ganbare! Kumoko-san no Theme – “Watashi” (VA: Aoi Yuki)  – So I’m a Spider, So What?
What I hope to win:
Yasashii Suisei – YOASOBI – BEASTARS
What I expect to win:
Shogeki – Yuko Ando – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Shirogane – LiSA – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
What will surprise me if it does win:
Nai Nai – ReoNA – SHADOWS HOUSE
Ganbare! Kumoko-san no Theme – “Watashi” (VA: Aoi Yuki)  – So I’m a Spider, So What?
With the exception of Attack on Titan’s ED (which seriously felt more like the OP for a totally different anime), I’m none too worried about whoever wins this award because I think most of the EDs are lovely and suit their anime well. But personally, I think the strongest ED was Beastars. I can still hear it in my head and imagine the image of that car driving down the road.
That being said, I think the ones that stand out the most are Nai Nai and Ganbare. Nai Nai because Shadow’s House didn’t get too much coverage in comparison to other anime coming out at the time, and Ganbare because it’s the most different out of all the EDs listed. So it’d be fun if either of those won.
Best Opening Sequence
Boku no sensou – Shinsei Kamattechan – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Kaibutsu – YOASOBI – BEASTARS
VIVID VICE – Who-ya Extended – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Ai no Supreme! – Fhana – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
ODDTAXI – Skirt and PUNPEE – ODDTAXI
Cry Baby – Official HIGE DANdism – Tokyo Revengers
What I hope to win:
ODDTAXI
What I expect to win:
Boku no sensou – Shinsei Kamattechan – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
VIVID VICE – Who-ya Extended – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
Ai no Supreme! – Fhana – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
Cry Baby – Official HIGE DANdism – Tokyo Revengers
Not going to sugar coat it. I think I’ll be genuinely upset if ODDTAXI doesn’t take this one. If it can’t take home any other award, I pray it’ll be this on. It’s the most unique out of the entire list of nominees and catchy as hell. And it suits its anime perfectly. However, if Miss Kobayashi ends up taking it for its animation alone, I think I’ll be okay with that.
In comparison to its first season’s OP, I think that Beastars new OP was rather weak, but it’s still good in its own way. Jujutsu Kaisen and Tokyo Revengers OPs actually made me want to pick up their shows sooner, so honestly, props to them.
....I legit didn’t realize that was an Attack on Titan OP until the end when Eren’s Titan form showed up for half a second. This is probably the only entry that will 100% piss me off if it wins.
Best VA Performance (English)
Brittany Cox – Fena – Fena: Pirate Princess
Laura Bailey –  Tohru Honda  – Fruits Basket The Final Season
Adam McArthur  – Yuji Itadori  – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
David Wald – Ainosuke Shindo / “ADAM” – SK8 the Infinity
Matt Shipman – Reki Kyan – SK8 the Infinity
Anairis Quiñones – Rika Kawai –  WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
N/A
What I expect to win:
Laura Bailey –  Tohru Honda  – Fruits Basket The Final Season
Adam McArthur  – Yuji Itadori  – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
Brittany Cox – Fena – Fena: Pirate Princess
Voice Acting is very subjective, and I haven’t finished all the dubs or had a chance to get even proper clips of scenes that would be needed to determine who would win. I do think it’s more likely that Laura or Adam are the more likely candidates, I’d be rather happy regardless who wins.
Best VA Performance (Japanese)
Ayane Sakura – Gabi Braun – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yuki Kaji – Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Kiyoshi Kobayashi  – Daisuke Jigen (Ep. 0) – LUPIN THE 3rd PART 6
Natsuki Hanae – Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Aoi Yuki – Kumoko – So I’m a Spider, So What?
Kanata Aikawa – Ai Ohto – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Natsuki Hanae – Odokawa – ODDTAXI
What I expect to win:
Ayane Sakura – Gabi Braun – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yuki Kaji – Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
What will surprise me if it does win:
Kiyoshi Kobayashi  – Daisuke Jigen (Ep. 0) – LUPIN THE 3rd PART 6
Aoi Yuki – Kumoko – So I’m a Spider, So What?
Again, voice acting is subjective, and everyone’s going to have a seiyuu they think deserves the win. And I’ll agree that they all did a fantastic job with their characters.
That said, Natsuki Hanae had what I feel to be the best performance out of everyone because of the fact that his voice made me care about a taxi walrus.
Taxi. Walrus.
Enough said.
Best Score
Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto – 86 EIGHTY-SIX
Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
Mabanua – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
PUNPEE, VaVa, and OMSB – ODDTAXI
Satoru Kosaki – Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-“
DÉ DÉ MOUSE and Mito – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
PUNPEE, VaVa, and OMSB – ODDTAXI
Satoru Kosaki – Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-“
What I expect to win:
Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
Satoru Kosaki – Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-“
What will surprise me if it does win:
Mabanua – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
While I would honestly be happy with any of these OSTs winning, I think Vivy and Odd Taxi had the best OSTs for the simple fact of how diverse the tracks are and how they tie into the characters.
But Megalobox is definitely the biggest underdog here and it’d be nice if it won.
Best Character Design
Tadashi Hiramatsu – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Baku Kinoshita and Hiromi Nakayama – ODDTAXI
Atsuko Nozaki – Ranking of Kings
Michinori Chiba – SK8 the Infinity
loundraw (FLAT STUDIO) and Yuichi Takahashi –Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
Saki Takahashi – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Baku Kinoshita and Hiromi Nakayama – ODDTAXI
Atsuko Nozaki – Ranking of Kings
Michinori Chiba – SK8 the Infinity
What I expect to win:
Tadashi Hiramatsu – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Saki Takahashi – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What will surprise me if it does win:
Baku Kinoshita and Hiromi Nakayama – ODDTAXI
Atsuko Nozaki – Ranking of Kings
Character designs are honestly a lot of fun and I think this year the category has a lot of strong contenders. While I’d be most happy if Odd Taxi or Ranking of Kings won, I’d be pretty happy with anyone winning this category.
Best Animation
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Cour 1
Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
What I expect to win:
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Cour 1
WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What will surprise me if it does win:
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
The animation has honestly been stellar and the entries for this category is honestly pretty stacked. While I do think it’ll probably be one of the more popular shows, I think it would be nice if KyoAni took this win. Dragon Maid was a great return entry from the studio, and I think it deserves the recognition.
Best Director
Yuichiro Hayashi – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Sunghoo Park – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Yo Moriyama – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
Baku Kinoshita – ODDTAXI
Shingo Natsume – Sonny Boy
Shin Wakabayashi – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Baku Kinoshita – ODDTAXI
What I expect to win:
Yuichiro Hayashi – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Sunghoo Park – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Shin Wakabayashi – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What will surprise me if it does win:
Baku Kinoshita – ODDTAXI
Yo Moriyama – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
Shingo Natsume – Sonny Boy
With one exception, I’d honestly be happy with any of the entries here being given the win. While Odd Taxi is my favorite, I do wanna shout out Megalobox for making the list, Sonny Boy for being an original project that allowed Shingo Natsume to really spread his wings, and Wonder Egg because I read about some things that went on behind the scenes and by god, give Shin Wakabayashi props for being able to work with what he was given.
Best Fight Scene
Eren Jaeger vs. War Hammer Titan – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Naruto Uzumaki vs. Isshiki Otsutsuki – Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Yuji Itadori & Aoi Todo vs. Hanami – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Yuji Itadori & Nobara Kugisaki vs. Eso & Kechizu – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Elma vs. Tohru – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
Vivy vs. Yugo Kakitani – Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
What I hope to win:
Elma vs. Tohru – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
Vivy vs. Yugo Kakitani – Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-
What I expect to win:
Eren Jaeger vs. War Hammer Titan – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yuji Itadori & Aoi Todo vs. Hanami – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Yuji Itadori & Nobara Kugisaki vs. Eso & Kechizu – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
Naruto Uzumaki vs. Isshiki Otsutsuki – Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Elma vs. Tohru – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S
I have seen clips of the fight scenes for these shows, and went to find the clips of these fights in particular. It will probably go to Jujutsu Kaisen, which would be well deserved. Vivy would also be a worthy of the award. While I would personally love for KyoAni to take the award as well, I know it’ll be tough with the competition.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Attack on Titan’s fight scenes have been pretty dull for a while now. The designs and concepts of the titans are cool and the maneuver gear is interesting to see in action, but combining the two doesn’t work for me somehow. Plus, the bounce in quality with the 3d models ever few seconds is pretty jarring and takes me out of the immersion.
Best Antagonist
Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Tomura Shigaraki – My Hero Academia Season 5
Yano – ODDTAXI
Echidna – Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2
Ainosuke Shindo/”ADAM” – SK8 the Infinity
Tetta Kisaki – Tokyo Revengers
What I hope to win:
Yano – ODDTAXI
Ainosuke Shindo/”ADAM” – SK8 the Infinity
What I expect to win:
Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Tomura Shigaraki – My Hero Academia Season 5
What will surprise me if it does win:
Echidna – Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2
Tetta Kisaki – Tokyo Revengers
Tumblr media
I jest, I jest. I actually do still enjoy My Hero Academia. But I prefer the manga over the anime. I feel the anime’s quality has been on a steady decline since the end of season 3. Most of the budget goes to the movies, and the way they messed up the order of the arcs in the last two seasons really irritated me. I think it badly impacted the growth of Shigaraki and how terrifying he can be.
When did Eren become the antagonist of Attack on Titan? Who’s the protagonist now then?
While I think it’s more likely that one of those two end up as the winner, I think any of the others listed would be interesting. Though I think it would be hilarious if everyone in this category lost to the rapping porcupine.
Best Protagonist
Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yuji Itadori – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Joe – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
Ai Ohto – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
What I expect to win:
Eren Jaeger – Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
Yuji Itadori – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
Joe – MEGALOBOX 2: NOMAD
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
So wait, Eren is still the protagonist? I’m confused and don’t know if I wanna try to understand the story decisions here.
I will be genuinely surprised if Bojji, Joe, or Odokawa win this category, but it would be a win well deserved. I have heard good things about Ai and Yuji, and would be pleased with them winning too.
But Bojji and Odokawa have my heart hands down.
Best Girl
Vladilena Milizé – 86 EIGHTY-SIX
Tohru Honda – Fruits Basket The Final Season
Nobara Kugisaki – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Sarasa Watanabe – Kageki Shojo!!
Shoko Komi – Komi Can’t Communicate
Ai Ohto – WONDER EGG PRIORITY
What I hope to win:
Sarasa Watanabe – Kageki Shojo!!
What I expect to win:
Tohru Honda – Fruits Basket The Final Season
Nobara Kugisaki – JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
Shoko Komi – Komi Can’t Communicate
What will surprise me if it does win:
Sarasa Watanabe – Kageki Shojo!!
Don’t have a lot to say on this other than from what I hear of 4 of the 6 nominees, they’re all fantastic ladies and all are deserving the title of Best Girl.
But I definitely think it’d be cool to have the girl from the underrated gem win this category.
Best Boy
Senku Ishigami – Dr. STONE Season 2
Izumi Miyamura – Horimiya
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
Ken ‘Draken’ Ryuguji – Tokyo Revengers
Manjiro ‘Mikey’ Sano – Tokyo Revengers
What I hope to win:
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
What I expect to win:
Izumi Miyamura – Horimiya
Bojji – Ranking of Kings
What will surprise me if it does win:
Senku Ishigami – Dr. STONE Season 2
Odokawa – ODDTAXI
Ken ‘Draken’ Ryuguji – Tokyo Revengers
Manjiro ‘Mikey’ Sano – Tokyo Revengers
I’m sorry but BOJJI IS BEST BOY HANDS DOWN. I WANT NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR BOJJI.
Odokawa is my second choice for the win.
But I honestly think that based on what I know of the other candidates, this will be a very satisfying win regardless of who actually gets it.
That said: PLEASE OH PLEASE BE BOJJI!!!
Anime of the Year
86 EIGHTY-SIX
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
ODDTAXI
Ranking of Kings
Sonny Boy
What I hope to win:
ODDTAXI
Ranking of Kings
What I expect to win:
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1
JUJUTSU KAISEN (cour 2)
What will surprise me if it does win:
86 EIGHTY-SIX
Sonny Boy
I’ve seen plenty of talk about 86 back while it was airing, but I hardly heard much talk about it post season wrap up. And while I didn’t personally finish it (wasn’t my cup of tea), Sonny boy is definitely a contender because I can definitely see the quality.
Given that Jujutsu Kaisen won last year, I would not be surprised if its second cour won. Nor would I be surprised if Attack on Titan wins as, again, final seasons tend to get more consideration in award shows like this.
HOWEVER
The skill and quality of Odd Taxi and Ranking of Kings is absolutely something we need to see more of, and I feel they are very, very worthy of the title of Anime of the Year. Odd Taxi’s precise story web coming to a perfect conclusion, and Ranking of Kings’ beautiful fairytale elements and strong basis of characters and world building make both incredibly strong entries that deserve the win.
Tumblr media
I think that’s everything. All my thoughts on the nominees and such. Took a lot out of me. I think it’s time for a nap.
If you made it to the end of the post, congrats! You deserve a cookie!
Tumblr media
What do you all think of the nominees? Do you have any favorites? Who do you think is going to win? Feel free to share your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you think!
Thank you all for taking the time to read, and I hope you have an awesome day!!!

Fandom’s Thoughts on Winter 2022 Anime So Far (1/17/2022)
Wow the week flies by, doesn’t it?
Figured now that a few more shows are out, I give a brief update to my current thoughts on the airing Winter 2022 season. I don’t have very much to say, but I kinda wanna get my thoughts out there. So let’s get started, shall we?
As always, I shall be putting my thoughts under the cut so as not to take up too much of your dash.
And with that, let’s jump right in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BRIEF THOUGHTS:  The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest, Futsal Boys!, World of Leadale, Tribe Nine
So I’ll be blunt, I’ll probably be dropping Strongest Sage after episode 3. Or at least waiting until it has a dub. I like the concept well enough, but the pacing is just really off and it’s making it hard for me to keep invested. I wonder if I’d have better chances if I read the source material. If anyone familiar with the series can weigh in, I’d like to hear your thoughts.
Futsal Boys has some animation issues here and there, but I feel it’ll be a solid 7/10 sports anime by the end of the season so long as it hits the goal (hehe). It’s not doing anything groundbreaking, but it definitely doesn’t deserve the 5.6 it currently has on MAL. Though that could be subject to change.
World of Leadale continues to be a cute video game/Isekai/fantasy story, but I do hope we learn more about the main character’s life outside of the game as well as inside it. Cayna’s game-created kids are adorably hilarious.
I did say last week that Tribe Nine would have to do something big to keep me interested. Dropping a Terminator-esque baseball player with his army of humvees from a plane to challenge a bunch of college aged kids is certainly the way to do that. I’m now reinvested.
Tumblr media
STILL GOING STRONG: Demon Slayer; Entertainment District Arc, Tokyo 24th Ward, Slow Loop, Sasaki to Miyano, Ranking of Kings, Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department, My Dress Up Darling, Akebi’s Sailor Uniform, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Season 2
I’m not going to do an overall breakdown series by series for these ones. But I will say that, if by this week you’re not already invested in at least one of these titles, you should be.
Demon Slayer, Ranking of Kings, and Realist Hero continue to give us everything we’ve been coming back for.
And Toyko 24th Ward, Slow Loop, Sasaki to Miyano, Miss Kuroitsu, Dress up Darling, and Akebi all had stellar second episodes that solidified them as ones I will continue watching this season.
Tumblr media
New Releases: Case Study of Vanitas Part 2, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Sabikui Bisco
So for Vanitas, I don’t have much to say. If you liked the first half, this half is looking to be on a good start. My only gripe is that the new OP doesn’t grab me as much as the last one, but it might grow on me.
Genius Hero, or as I like to call it, “Schadenfreude The Anime”. One episode in and already I’m excited to continually see this guy suffer in success. I cannot wait to see how badly he messes up at failing next episode. I hadn’t had a hearty laugh that big in a while.
SABIKUI BISCO IS GOING TO BE A TOP CONTENDER FOR ANIME OF THE YEAR. I CAN FEEL IT.
Cool post apocolypric setting? Check. Neat character designs? Check. Badass soundtrack? Check. Giant crabs and vicious attack hippos with machine guns? Check and Check. Giant Mushrooms? CHECK! All that’s missing is the badgersbadgersbadgersbadgers-
Seriously though, this is definitely one of the ones to be watching this season.
Tumblr media
DROPPED: Requiem of the Rose King
NOW WATCHING: Cue!
So after episode 2, I’ve decided to drop Requiem of the Rose King. I don’t know if its just the directing or the story itself, but after this episode I couldn’t bring myself to dedicate any more time to this show. I have very few spoons and very little time to use them, so best to invest them elsewhere.
And invest I did. Shoutout to the nice anon who recommended I check out Cue! Because it is 100% what I was craving. A cute story about a group of young ladies all wanting to become professional Voice Actresses. It’s scratching the itch that Shirobako left behind and I highly recommend this one.
Tumblr media
TOP 5 OF THE SEASON (so far): Toyko 24th Ward, Sasaki to Miyano, Sabikui Bisco, My Dress Up Darling, Cue!
While I still adore Slow Loop and Akebi’s Sailor Uniform, I felt I had to put Cue! and Sabikui in the top 5. However, the other two are in a tie for 6th place currently.
As of this week I’m still waiting on Ryman’s Club to release, and I forgot to watch Koroshi Ai, so expect my thoughts on that next time.
Any you think I missed? Any you consider a favorite? Let me know your thoughts. I’d love to hear what you all think!
Thank you for taking the time to read and have a wonderful day!

Fandom’s Thoughts on Winter 2022 Anime So Far (1/10/2022)
So there are quite a few anime I planned on watching this season. I want to try to keep up with more seasonal shows in order to both diversify my viewing experience and hopefully be more up to date with the current anime conversation.
I’ll also keep it under the cut as this will probably get LONG. And I, for one, do not want to clog up your dash board with my silly personal opinions.
Tumblr media
And with that, let’s dive in.
First, I’m going to briefly talk about Ousama Ranking, the carry over from Fall 2021.
Tumblr media
I promise that in a year’s time when I make my 2022 awards, I will try to keep an open mind about future OPs. BUT the second OP for the second half of this anime absolutely breathtaking. It’ll be very hard not to make this my pick for Best OP of 2022.
Now, onto the other anime.
Tumblr media
SEQUEL SEASONS: Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Season 2
For Demon Slayer, needless to say that if you liked the previous season and the Mugen Train movie, you’ll probably enjoy this arc. The action is fast paced, the music is stellar, and all the characters are phenomenal. If I had to nitpick one thing though, it’d probably be that it feels a little fast in terms of pacing. But other than that, top quality sequel.
As for Realist Hero; there’s only been one episode of the new season, but it’s looking very promising. A good chunk was recap, followed by a lot of diplomatic conversation, but conversations like that are a bit of a staple of this show. If you enjoyed season 1 or if you like anime that focus more on the economic/political side of things (like Spice and Wolf), then I say catch up and follow this season closely.
Tumblr media
ANIME WITH THE ROUGH START: Futsal Boys, Requiem of the Rose King, The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest, Tribe Nine
So with Futsal Boys, I’m going to give it at least 6 episodes. This is, as far as I can tell, the very first futsal anime. It doesn’t take that long to pick up on what futsal is, the PV makes it look like it’ll be a good sport anime. The first episode left a little to be desired, but I have faith it’ll probably improve with time. I’m giving it a chance as it is an anime original.
Requiem of the Rose King has me....concerned. It has elements of things I enjoy. I like the setting, the music is good, and I like the design of our main character Richard, but something about this episode felt...off to me. Perhaps it’s because I never heard of this series before the anime was announced and haven’t read the manga it’s based on.
Strongest Sage went through at least one cour’s worth of content in just 1 episode. That is very concerning. I hope the following episodes keep me engaged because right now I’m not looking hopeful.
Tribe Nine... I’ll be blunt, I do not expect this anime to be much. And this is coming from someone who actually really liked the first season of Danganronpa the Animation and ADORES Akudama Drive. But considering that there’s more impressive animation in the game trailers that came out ages ago compared to this first episode, this show is going to have to do something big in the next few episodes to keep me coming back weekly and not just wait for the dub to come out. Or just wait on the actual game.
Tumblr media
THE POTENTIAL UNDERDOGS: Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department and World of Leadale
The premise of Miss Kuroitsu had me hooked from the start and the first episode impressed me enough that I’m going to make a prediction. It’ll be one of the more underrated comedies this year. So long as the last episode sticks the landing. I might check out the source material if the next episode keeps up the quality.
Leadale is currently sitting on a tightrope. It’ll either turn out to be a very good show, or a very mediocre show. I’m hoping the former, considering the reviews I’ve seen for the light novel.
Tumblr media
TOP 5 OF THE SEASON (so far): Tokyo 24th Ward, Sasaki to Miyano, Slow Loop, My Dress-Up Darling, Akebi’s Sailor Uniform
I’ll admit. I’m going through Super Hero burnout. Marvel’s expansive cinematic universe has disappointed me more than not. My Hero Academia’s anime has been leaving a lot to be desired. I don’t have the spoons to watch Tiger and Bunny yet. But Tokyo 24th Ward’s first episode (which is almost an hour long), has been keeping the spark going. If you’re wondering if you should follow it, think of the premise like this; What do you get when you mix Psycho Pass, Person of Interest, Color Coordinated Trios, and the Trolley Problem together? You get Episode 1 of Tokyo 24th Ward. Sound interesting enough? GIVE IT A WATCH!
Sasaki to Miyano feels a bit like Horimiya and Bloom into You had a child and that child was a cute love story between a sweets loving dumb-dumb and his romance story loving underclassman. The first episode was very cute and made me want to pick up the manga.
Slow Loop is basically Yuru Camp but with step-sisters and focusing specifically on fishing. It’s sweet. It’s cute. It’s so worth keeping up with.
Calling it now. Marin Kitagawa is going to be declared Winter 2022′s Best Girl. My Dress-Up Darling is going to be one of the best anime of the season, and is a contender for best of the year. Marin and Gojou’s interactions in this episode were adorable, and seeing Gojou take Marin’s words to heart and opening up to her was just -chef’s kiss- Prefect.
Akebi’s Sailor Uniform was absolutely gorgeous and I’m already adoring our protagonist. I look forward to more. I can’t really say much other that it is absolutely a must watch.
And that’s all we have so far. I’m still waiting on the following and will give my opinions on these when they come.
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt
Sabikui Bisco
Koroshi Ai
The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2
Ryman's Club
Are there any shows you think I missed? Any you want me to check out? Feel free to let me know by leaving a comment or dropping by the inbox.
And with that, I now move on to the next show~! Thank you for taking the time to read this little recap!
Have a great day everyone!

I think Sorairo Utility is both really good and slightly disappointing.
It’s a really good short OVA. Definitely worth the watch if you enjoy a nice cute-girls-do-cute-things anime and if you know a bit about the sport.
But at the same time, I really wish it had gotten a few episodes. This could have been a great short series about a girl learning and mastering golf. And if you’re not familiar with a lot of the terms beyond things like club and put, you’re probably going to be a little lost.
Maybe 6 episodes tops, each about 10-15 minutes like the one we got, and this could be something truly incredible.
Definitely a solid 7, but could easily be a 9 if it were given more time to breathe.

Fandom’s 2021 Recap and 2022 Anime Goals
So back at the start of 2020, I made a list of 12 anime I promised myself I’d try to watch by the end of the year. These were anime that had aired prior to 2020 that I had meant to catch up on. In the end, I managed to complete 10/12 of those anime.
Just before 2021, I promised myself I would do the same thing again.
This was the list
Tumblr media
[Top Row: Billionaire Detective, Zombieland Saga, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Haikyuu, Last Exile, Yuru Camp. Bottom Row: Astra Lost in Space, Tada-kun Never Falls in Love, Smile Down the Runway, Given, Gankutsuou, Chihayafuru]
By the end of the year, this is what that list looks like now.
Tumblr media
I managed to complete 9/12 I planned to watch, with two of those being hold overs from my original 2020 list. Honestly, I’m quite proud of the achievement! It’s more than I anticipated.
Including drops, rewatches, sequels/multiseasons, and ongoing anime, I have watched over 80 titles this year. I’ll include a comprehensive list under the cut, but I’m honestly really, REALLY happy I managed that much given the year I’ve had.
Now, what am I going to watch next? Well, hard to say. I know there’s loads of stuff coming soon, but what about my 12 past aired titles? Well, I think I know where I’m going to start.
Tumblr media
Top Row we have: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Senki Zesshou Symphogear, Tiger and Bunny, Haikyuu!, Last Exile, Princess Principal.
Bottom Row we have: Dororo, Dr. Stone, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, Keep Your Hands Off Eizoken!, Selector Project, Chihayafuru
Will I manage to get through all of these? Who knows! But I sure am going to try!!!
I’ll also be trying to keep up with more seasonal shows as we go and get more into manga and light novels, though I’m refraining from making any goals around those so that I don’t feel too pressured. I’ll include the list of Winter 2022 anime I’ll be trying to keep up with under the cut as well.
If there’s an anime you think I should give a watch, a manga or light novel I should read, or just a title you wanna scream about, feel free to let me know! I’m always down for a good rec and my inbox is open.
Here’s hoping 2022 is good to everyone!

Well, it’s that time of year again. The time to reflect on everything and really stop and think. 2021 had a lot of highs and lows when it came to anime, but through it all, we all came away with something grand.
A song. A story. A memory. 2021 gave us so many amazing things. And now, as we begin to close out the year, I want to share with you all my personal faves that I watched through it all.
Keep in mind, not everything in my list of what I watched was from this year. Some of it was from last year. Others are far older. But every title I watched this year to completion was time well spent. And these are my opinions on what I watched. I’ll keep it all under the read more so that this doesn’t take up your entire dash.
Now with that, let’s get to the list!
HERE IS FANDOM’S PERSONAL ANIME AWARDS FOR SHOWS THEY WATCHED IN 2021!!!!
BEST SCI-FI goes to Planetes
This was a toss up between Planetes and Astra: Lost in Space, but I felt that Planetes just beat out Astra. A series about space garbage men that has truly stood the test of time that more people should check out. If you enjoy stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Wolf’s Rain or shows with similar tones, then you’ll like this show.
BEST FANTASY goes to To Your Eternity
Listen, I know there were tons of Fantasy shows out there this year. And I tried to keep up with them. But the one that I feel earns the title of Best Fantasy goes to this show. Fushi’s journey and the world he inhabits is incredible and you will not be disappointed.
BEST MYSTERY goes to ODDTAXI
What more do I need to say? There are few anime that I would say are 100% Perfect. This is one of them. No detail is overlooked. No amount of character interaction is filler. Everything has a point and purpose to the great end. If you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for?!
BEST SHORT SERIES goes to Pui Pui Molcar
It’s a stop motion show about sentient Guinea Pig cars. Need I say more?
BEST DRAMA goes to GANKUTSUOU: The Count of Monte Christo
It’s the Count of Monte Christo. In space. With aliens and funky artwork. And it somehow works. I don’t know how better to sell it.
BEST SLICE OF LIFE goes to Yuru Camp
Cute girls do camping things and it was honestly the show I needed when I finally hit the burnout of the last 2 years.
BEST OST goes to Vivy: Fluorite Eyes Song
This soundtrack was far too good and was worth the hype alone. But paired with the animation and it was absolutely elevated.
BEST SEQUEL goes to Uma Musume Season 2
I tried so, so hard. This year had so many good sequel seasons. But the one I felt was the strongest was this one. I still stop and think about it from time to time. And its a season that stands on its own. It’s simply fantastic.
BEST COMMUNITY goes to Shirobako
Bringing back this award, this is in regards to characters and setting and how they interact. And the community of the setting of Shirobako are simply amazing to watch and I wish these people were my fellow co-workers.
BEST ONGOING goes to Ranking of Kings
I HAD TO GET THIS SHOW ON HERE SOMEHOW AND IT WILL PROBABLY MAKE MY BEST OF 2022 IF THE SEASON STICKS THE LANDING.
Best Romance goes to Science Fell in Love, so I Decided to Prove It
Two nerds who are so into science that they need to use science to prove they are in love. Shenanigans ensue. It’s too cute.
BEST FRIENDSHIP goes to Astra: Lost in Space
There were a lot of great anime I watched this year that I felt deserve this award, but without spoiling anything, the friendship between the crew of the Astra is something that I felt deserved recognition the most.
BEST FIGHT goes to Kyojuro Rengoku VS Akaza from Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc
I STILL GET THE FEELS OVER THIS FIGHT OKAY?!?! I WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS!
BEST ISEKAI goes to Ascendance of a Bookworm
It was a close race between this and Realist Hero, but I felt that Bookworm had a more solid open ending that both allows for further story, as well as leaves a viewer satisfied in the case a new season cannot be produced. (Luckily, both are getting new seasons soon, but point still stands.)
BEST COMEDY goes to Zombieland Saga Seasons 1 and 2
Zombie. Idols. Need I say more?
BEST INSERT SONG goes to Dawn Breaks from Given
It was so, so hard to pick an insert song this year, but I felt this song had more of what I was looking for in terms of something both emotional and memorable. If you haven’t listened to it, please do.
BEST OP is a DRAW! This award goes to ODDTAXI and PRETTY BOY DETECTIVE CLUB!
Listen, these two have amazing animation and very fitting songs that perfectly encapsulate their respective shows and what to expect from them. Both are worthy of watching on their own.
BEST ED goes to BEASTARS Season 2.
The animation and the music are both just so soothing and are a welcome change of pace compared to the action and suspense of the main show and OP.
MOST UNDERRATED goes to Kemono Jihen
Horror. Mystery. Found Family. Criminally under watched. Please give it a watch.
MOST HEARTWARMING goes to The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent
This anime was just gentle. Soft. Warm. A nice romance and sweet fantasy isekai.
MOST DELICIOUS goes to Restaurant to Another World Season 2
It’s hard to watch this and not get hungry.
GUILTY PLEASURE goes to Fairy Ranmaru
I will not justify this one. It’s just pure, unapologetic, queer fun. It’s not good, but it’s not bad. It’s just fun.
MOST ADORABLE goes to My Senpai is Annoying
Look, I’m a sucker for the “Tiny-Grumpy-Human and Giant Goofy Teddy Bear” dynamic, okay? Sue me.
BEST REWATCH goes to Akudama Drive
I cannot describe how much better this show gets with every rewatch, okay? Just...give it a watch if you haven’t already.
MOST EMOTIONAL SCENE goes to Episode 1 of To Yuor Eternity
My feels...will never recover....
MOST FUN DUB goes to Sk8 The Infinity
HEY BITCHES AND BROS AND NONBINARY HOES!
This dub just gets me.
The DESERVED BETTER award goes to Way of the House Husband
If ANY anime adaptation should have gotten the One Punch Man treatment, it should have been this one. You’re better off ripping the audio from the show and placing it over manga edits. I’ve never seen an anime that made me think a premise wasn’t funny the way this one did.
MOST DISSAPOINTING is also a draw! This award goes to B: The Beginning- Succession and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou/Sotsu
With B: The Beginning, it was just disappointing. I hardly remember anything from the season. I keep waiting and waiting for a part 2, wondering if maybe there’s something I’m missing. The music was boring, the fighting wasn’t memorable. I wish they’d just either left it at one season or actually stopped to consider “is this any good?”
With Higurashi Gou/Sotsu, however, this is one that the more I think about it, the more I try to fit it into the overall narrative of Higurashi. The more I try to make sense of its themes and story, the more pissed off I get. This just feels like a giant spit in the face after being thrown into a pile of cow manure. Even if I were to take it as its own thing outside of canon, it just doesn’t make it any better. It’s not even worth it beyond the music.
And now, the ranking of:
THE TOP TEN ANIME I WATCHED IN 2021!
10) Pretty Boy Detective Club 9) Astra: Lost in Space 8) Gankutsuou - The Count of Monte Christo 7) Ascendance of a Bookworm 6) Planetes 5) Kemono Jihen 4) Uma Musume Season 2 3) Sk8 The Infinity 2) To Your Eternity 1) ODDTAXI
And there you have it! My rankings for anime I watched this past year! Were there some you think I missed? Are there any you think I should give a watch? Any your favorites? Let me know!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this post and I look forward to seeing you all in 2022!

Fandom Mini Review: A Turning Point in “March Comes in Like a Lion”
A brief summary of the show: March Comes in Like a Lion follows the story of Rei Kiriyama, a 17-year-old professional shogi player living on his own in June Town. We watch as he matures and grows into adulthood, and observe how his interactions his fellow shogi players, as well as the Kawamoto sisters who live across the bridge in March Town, shape him into the kind of player and person he’ll become.
I’m currently rewatching the show for an upcoming review, but I’m taking a moment to talk about what, in my opinion, is one of the biggest turning points in the entire series. An important moment that leads into the path our main character will take through the rest of the series. That turning point being Episode 10′s culminating scene.
This will be a little lengthy, but please bear with me.
Also, there’s going to be a lot of spoilers as well as references to various forms of abuse, toxic relationships, addiction, alcoholism, gambling, neglect, trauma, depression, and death.
Now, on to the scene.

Fandom Reviews: Reviews and the Rating System
So I figured if I do continue these anime reviews, I should probably explain my rating system.
Tumblr media
My system has a certain number of rankings I present to each title based on certain criteria. That criteria is:
Story
Characters
Sound and Animation
Personal Enjoyment
Overall Content Warnings
Each of these things I analyze, and then decide on how much certain aspects of these five things could affect another’s enjoyment. Once I’m done, I form the review in an easy format, starting with personal anecdote with a content warning, and then moving on to Story, Characters, Sound and Animation, and ending on Final Thoughts with a rating and information on where you can currently legally access what I talked about. You can see examples of that here and here with my first two full reviews.
Now, as for the ratings, these are the ones I came up with. The five ratings are:
Certified Classic
Shelf Worthy
Stream it
Skip it
Certified Fuck It
Tumblr media
The Certified Classic Rating: a rating I reserve for only the best of the best, and series I believe need all the attention they can get.
This means that the series has either flown under the radar, or had a decent following at some point but that following has either massively declined in recent memory or vanished all together.
These are series that I feel need a bit of extra love and attention and that I know many people with either love themselves, or they know someone who would absolutely adore them as much as I have.
Essentially, this is my ‘Cult Classic’ tag. My smaller, more honest souls that should be cherished but have yet to be discovered by others.
Tumblr media
The Shelf Worthy Rating: a rating I reserve for only the best of the best, and those series that are worth the hype.
This means this series is incredibly good. As good as the Certified Classics.
However, unlike the Certified Classics, these series either have an incredibly large following currently, (like whatever new anime is currently airing in the season) or are considered an Anime Essential (in the same vein as the FMA franchise, Gundam Multiverse, DBZ, Sailor Moon, or Cowboy Bebop).
Essentially, this is the ranking reserved for those series who have made such a strong name for themselves based on their quality, that they’ve become part of the anime lexicon, are easily recognizable, and/or are currently receiving all the attention.
TL:DR: It’s mainstream and you know it, even if you’ve never seen it. And I agree with the majority that it’s worth the purchase.
Tumblr media
The Stream It Rating: a rating reserved for series that have a rather high level of ‘your millage may vary’ content, but is still worth giving a try.
This is essentially where I put series that I either do not see as highly as others may, or its got too much content that it makes me wary of recommending it to just about anyone.
It’s also where I put series that have not aged well in some aspect, be it in how it deals with certain topics or issues, dub quality if one is available, or overall animation.
Basically, if it gives me too many misgivings on any level, I’ll recommend you just try it before you buy it.
Tumblr media
The Skip It Rating: a rating reserved for series I feel do not live up to the hype, and are not worth the time.
This is for series that have either highly disappointed me in some way, shape, or form, or have been hyped up so much that upon seeing the content it makes me question why anyone would watch this.
These are the shows I dislike greatly, but may still have one or two redeeming qualities to them such as good animation or a fantastic soundtrack that makes it perfect AMV or writing fodder. Or perhaps is connected in some way to a better product that you can check out instead, such as if its based on a book or a video game.
You and can friends can watch it, but you’ll only really be able to enjoy it with a damn good drinking game.
If you were to ask me if I’d recommend it, or if I enjoyed it, I’ll be blunt and tell you that you’re not missing much and can do without whatever gets this rating.
Tumblr media
The Certified Fuck It Rating: a rating reserved for only the worst of the worst, and those that I feel you should avoid at all cost.
Anything with this rating is something I will adamantly insist you do not come into contact with. There are no redeeming qualities to this product, and you’re better off chucking it into the garbage where it belongs, plain and simple. We’re talking Fallout 76 levels of what the fuckery.
These series aren’t even worth a hate watch. Not worth the drinking game.
Do not pass episode 1. Do not collect $200 in merch. Go straight to jail.
Please for the love of the old Otaku Legends, do not watch whatever gets the Certified Fuck It.
Tumblr media
And that’s how my reviews and ratings are going to be.
I hope this helps make sense of my thought process for anyone curious.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and hope you’re looking forward to the next review.

Fandom Mini-Reviews: Ranking My Hero Academia OPs S1-4
You ever get a sudden urge to just…rank anime OPs of long running franchises you follow? Well, this is one of those.
I’m going to be ranking the current OPs from My Hero Academia seasons 1-4. I’m basing these off my own personal opinion on how much I enjoy the OPs and how well I think they fit the show overall, ranking them from least favorite to most favorite. And I’ll do my best to keep this brief.
This is my own silly personal opinion, and how you rank them is going to be very different from how I do. And that’s totally okay.
Also, since Tumblr has a limit on how many videos can be added, I’m going to have to just add the top 5 videos and embed link the rest.
And of course, Spoilers ahead for anyone not caught up.
With that, let’s get started.
7) OP 7: Starmaker
Not a bad OP in and of itself. The song is catchy and the animation is fantastic. However, given the heaviness of the arc just before it and the weird pacing of the season overall makes this OP a little hard for me to to enjoy, as it feels way too sharp of a tone change. Still a bop though.
6) OP 1: The Day
A wonderful OP in both song and animation, and iconic in that it was the best foot forward the series could make in terms of getting people hooked on the series. I just like the other OPs a little bit more.
5) OP2: Peace Sign
youtube
Probably one of the most popular out of all the OPs, and a great OP at that. It gives a lot of characters a chance to shine and gets us pumped up for what’s to come for all of them. This one lives up to its hype. Had you asked me 6 months ago, this would have been a little higher on the list.
4) OP 5: Make My Story
youtube
This one was a close call, but I decided this one should be in the #4 spot because it’s just a delight. I’ll admit, it wasn’t exactly my favorite for a while, but coming back to it every so often has made it grow on me. It basically takes everything I loved about Peace Sign and multiplied it by 10.
3) OP 6: Polaris
youtube
This one was another very close call, but I have to say Polaris takes the #3 spot. Th animation was nice and the song and visuals complimented each other and the arc very well. But I feel like it was just missing that “oomph” factor to really take it the distance.
2) OP 3: Sora ni Utaeba
youtube
For the longest time, this one was my favorite of all the OPs. The animation is amazing and the song just struck all the right cords with me, really highlighting the direction the story was going to go in a way that felt organic an natural. I could listen to this one on repeat for hours.
1) OP 4: Odd Future
youtube
WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN WITH THIS ONE? First of all, it’s UVERworld, and if they do the OP or ED for anything, I am bound to give it a chance. Second, the animation is probably at its best here, with the fluid movements and amazing synergy with the music. And third, it just perfectly encapsulates everything My Hero Academia is about and gets you hyped. A perfect OP for one of my absolute favorite arcs in the whole anime.
And that’s my list. How do you rank the OPs? Would you like to see me do the EDs? Are there other series you’d like me to see OP rankings for, even if I haven’t seen the anime?  Let me know!
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and I hope you all have an awesome day.
