Looking For Artists, Writers, and Creators of All Mediums!

The day has finally come: contributor applications are finally open! We have three forms: Artist, Writer, and Other Creatives. Each form will have their own set of guidelines, which are stated both in the forms themselves and our MasterDoc, which we are using in lieu of a Carrd. Below are our general guidelines:

General Guidelines

You MUST be 16+ at the time of application. We will not be accepting any applicants younger than that.

You must have a viable Discord and email address for communication regarding this project

A portfolio of at least three pieces of your work. You can submit either one large Google Drive file with all of your work, or up to five separate Drive links. We recommend the first option, but either is fine.

We will not be accepting Carrd or social media accounts (AO3/Insta/Etc.) as viable portfolios for the purposes of our project.

At least one piece must be from a horror OR podcast related fandom. While TMA/TMagP fan creation is preferred, we understand not everyone will have such pieces to show in their portfolio. 

If you are submitting for a specific character we ask that at least one of your portfolio pieces include art of said character. We will be judging for creativity and portrayal. This is especially important for cosplayers. 

This is a SFW zine. However, you are allowed to submit NSFW pieces as part of your portfolio if (and only if) you are 18+

As a reminder this is a charity zine. Contributors will not be making any profit off of their contributions. 

THIS ZINE IS NOT OPEN TO AI-GENERATED SUBMISSIONS. If we suspect that you used AI generation for your submissions you will be immediately disqualified from the consideration pool.  

IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED YOU MAY NOT POST ANY FINISHED WORK FOR THIS ZINE UNTIL YOU GET THE GO AHEAD FROM THE MODS. Failure to comply will result in a permanent dismissal from the project.

Finished designing my bull angel concept! for my friend's TTRPG

The theme of the eleventh Object Head Zine is “MAGIC AND FANTASY”.

Embrace the swirling magic inside as you summon power from the depths, awaken the sleeping strength to battle strong foes, and venture forth to adventure - this year's zine wants you to pull forth your imagination and seize fantasies beyond your wildest dreams! Feel free to pick whatever genre you'd like; there's plenty to choose from!

This book will feature 35 people I’ve selected, plus 35 open slots available to the public for a total of 70 participants! This year’s zine is a PAID OPPORTUNITY of $115 USD per page (an increase from previous years!). Participants will be paid as soon as they complete their piece  (give or take a week for PayPal to transfer funds). There will be a pre-order sale to cover the costs of printing and shipping.

The guidelines are as follows:

Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block!

6”x9”, 300 DPI illustrations with a 1/8th inch bleed (FINAL DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE 6.25” x 9.25”) Works must be in CMYK, and in a vertical format only.

At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration.

For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)

Original characters only (yours or your friends’).

You can include humans or other creatures, as long as there’s a 1:1   object head to non-object head/human ratio.

This book is for all ages. PG-13 content at the most! Cartoon violence and blood are acceptable, but realistic gore is NOT. Use your common sense. If you’re unsure, run the idea by me.

Completed illustrations must be sent as a flattened psd or tiff file

There  are only 12 slots for comics available due to page count space so if you apply for a comic space, and you are selected, you may not be picked for comics but instead illustration!

a list of random art tips i’ve learned over a long time

The elbows are at the same height at the belly button

the hands go about 1/3 of the way down the thigh

add fewer folds in clothes than you think you need

The colors of shadows look different depending on what color your light source is

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD LINES AND HARD SHADOWS

if you don’t like doing highlights digitally in procreate, add a black layer over the whole drawing, then click the little N of the layer and scroll down to Color Dodge. pick a color for your highlights and draw. Use a soft airbrush to create glow, use a harder brush to create sharper lines

if something is out of your skill level but you really wanna draw it, get a reference! It’s ok to trace! It will help you get better!

think of objects and people as piles of shapes if you are having trouble with positioning

if you don’t like drawing the other eye: copy and paste, cover it with hair/hat/eye patch/hand/scarf/literally anything you can think of

try new styles! it doesn’t matter if it looks good or not, but now you know what you do/don’t like doing, what you’re good/not good at, and what you want to improve on!

when you’re drawing profile heads: add a little extra length to the back of the head. heads aren’t perfect circles. doing this will make the face, ear, and jawline feel much less cramped.
