ways to interact with dupes !
sometimes interacting with dupes of your muses can be daunting, and sometimes it can be hard to come up with ideas that make sense. everyone writes their muses so uniquely that it would be a shame to miss out on the wonderful opportunities you can have, and the friendships you could make. here are a few ideas. feel free to reblog and add your own !
time travel
for some muses, time travel is possible. if it's not, make an au ! there are so many ways to bring time travel into the picture: science, magic, a weird curse placed on the family 400 years ago that just happened to curse your muse. this is a fun way to play with timelines if you want to do things in a certain setting.
alternate universes
like time traveling, this could be through magic, science, a curse ( or something in that vein ), or aliens ! it's a fun way to use your other verses with another version of your muse. your muse has a major decision to make that changes the narrative? what if they meet the version of themselves that made the other choice? lots of canon sources have the multiverse, so play with it ! get crazy !
evil twin
okay, so they don't have to be evil, but it's a fun cliche that has been used since the dawn of time and why stop now? create a whole universe where they grew up together. or maybe something happened to one of them and they were raised separately and find each other later in life. the possibilities are endless ! parent trap the hell out of your au, my dude ( gender neutral ). a normal slice-of-life twin au is just as good !
seeing double
uh oh ! your muse is hit with some ability ( a power, a quirk, a clone-inator, whatever tickles your fancy ) where they're split into two ! this could be two exact copies, personality split ( one has positive traits, the other negative ), or if your muse lives a double life, they split personality wise that way ( ex. all might has two forms ; one is all might and the other is small might ). how are they going to fix this?

"I have depression." - character who has been through extensive therapy.
"I feel dead inside all the time and nothing helps!" - character who does like, regular introspective thinking and is aware of the concept of mental health.
"Leave me the fuck alone I'll be fine once I get over my stupid shit." - repressed character.
"It's fine I'm just having an Empty Time. What? Yeah, empty times, you know, when everything is like bzzzzzz in your brain and you don't shower for two weeks. Why, what do you call it?" - ooooughhh now we're talkin

I think Harley hanging off of Scarecrow is the appropriate response to seeing Scarecrow in any context. He’s like a tree; climbable. Also, he deserves all the hugs ever, even if he’s a built like a piece of straw. Harley is so me coded.
he is indeed a tree and harley was not the only one to notice it

i can’t stand “it’s not that deep” attitudes like even if it really really isn’t that deep just PLAY WITH ME. just fucking PLAY. have a meaningless but deep analytical conversation with me. just like think about shit for fun. does anyone else like to think about stuff for fun. it’s so lonely

crazy how every time a female character gets cliche misogynistic writing we have to explain to people again that fictional characters are not real and do not choose things for themselves.

I’m so sorry for intruding but I love the idea of Gene trying to scare Jon and bring dramatique about it (this is one of Ink’s DW Masters, I swear I’m not an insane creeper)

I don’t know if you’ve ever encountered my writing about Jon but I’m so pleased to read such intelligent analysis that I agree with. ❤️
and another thing: since it's relevant to his themes and gives me an excuse to talk about his previous abuse and trauma, what response does jon have to fear?
well, primarily it's freeze. sometimes flight, and even less often is fight, but those are rarer.
how this has come to be in his life is through shutting down around his great grandmother, mary. he learned very quickly with her that you shut up and take whatever it is she says. fight? that results in getting shoved in the barn and clawed up, pecked by crows. flight? oh, she'll follow him, find him. make him eat a fucking rat because you are what you eat, scurrying away like that in the night to escape this place. kneel on rice and pray. beat with a wooden spoon. eat soap for talking back. nearly drowned in the bathtub because you're unclean. god doesn't forgive bastards born out of sin.
so freeze. freeze or there are consequences. freeze every evening at dinner time while getting berated and abused. freeze like your life depends on it because who knows what she'll do next time, and words are safer.
there's also school. it's similar. flight works better, but there's also the next time they'll see you again. there are too many of them to fight. so freeze like you've learned to and maybe it won't be so bad now or the next time. don't defend yourself too much or they'll want to break you even more. become numb.
he learned to dissociate through it.
even when he grew older, it stuck to him. shutting down, not fighting, even though he was stronger than her. he could fight her physically, but he couldn't mentally push himself to. even the way he killed her wasn't physical in the end - he let the crows do the work. he just couldn't fight her.
