I am still following One Piece, but since the end of Whole Cake Island, I wait for about 1/2 of an arc to pass before I binge through the anime/manga! So, for example, I'm caught up to the end of Egghead in the manga but stopped at the middle of Egghead in the anime. I much prefer binge-watching/reading series to waiting weekly!

I liked the Egghead Arc! Though I'm definitely getting a little tired of the constant teasing of the big questions for the series LOL I've always loved Kuma but his backstory killed me. Bonnie went from a character I cared 0% about to someone I'm looking forward to seeing again! It's nice to see an island where Oda can really stretch his imagination again.

I don't want to mention any big spoilers for anyone who isn't caught up to this arc, but I do have a lot of Big Thoughts (tm) about the direction of the series. I keep a pulse on what's happening in the manga since I love spoilers. VERY interested in Imu. VERY interested in the concept of the gods. Waiting for more Dragon lore.

The anime definitely made the right choice by going on a 6-month break. I think it breathed some life back into the series. I'm excited for the new remake of the anime and for season 2 of the live action! The new actors they have for the series are SO good so far. I'm excitedly waiting for a reveal on Ace's and (maybe?) Teach's actors.

Hi, your fic is beautifully written and I was hoping you will update soon, and I don't want to rush you or make you feel bad but can you update more ? Even if the chapters are short - can it be once a month or once every two months ? It's hard to wait half a year for a chapter, I just want more of your amazing fanfic, because it's really good and I can't take it out of my mind. So please please please 🙏

While I appreciate the sentiment, please remember that fanfic is something authors do for fun on their own time. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to write fic consistently due to IRL circumstances. Even if I did, I also have other projects I want to spend my time on--such as art, other fics, and original stories. IMO, the moment fanfic starts to feel like a job is when a lot of us writers start to lose interest in the work.

Shower thoughts.

I don't know what fever dream came over me this morning, but I woke up, deleted my draft, and restarted the next chapter for PYP in an absolute frenzy. Now I only have one or two more scenes left to go before I post—short chapter be damned! I just want to get back into the habit of posting for this story again. I reread the last couple of chapters recently and I've been missing this feral bastard.

In the meantime, feel free to submit any drabble or art requests. I'd appreciate the inspo fuel ^^

The fic is certainly not abandoned; I've just been struggling with writing for this story 😅 I have a good chunk of the next chapter written up, but certain scenes have been a pain to connect and I really don't want to post something I'm not happy with. Or just slap in another time skip. As such, it'll depend on when I smash through the writer's block.

These past few months, I've been mulling on how I want to continue this story. In an effort to not be too spoilery, I think there's a large part of me that doesn't want to move on from this segment (and really get into the nitty gritty of it all) but it's starting to feel like it's at the detriment of the overall story.

Other projects have been easier to write for, so recently I've been focusing on those. As much as it sucks to neglect my most popular fic, I've been having a lot of fun with those.

As always, I'll let you guys know ahead of time when I plan on posting the next chapter.

AU / What if Tsuru managed to take Lami away from Doflamingo?

The relief is immediate.

Air deflates from her lungs as her body eases into the steely metal chair of the interrogation room. A pen rolls back and forth along the metal table, in rhythm with the rocking of the large battleship. A blond woman in a bucket hat watches from the other side of the table, arms crossed over her chest. Poison is washed from her body as hands clinically wring at her skin—the white substance drip, drip, dripping from the sides of her chair, pooling on the floor beneath them.

Black eyes stare at the white. Who knew it would be so easy?

The Vice-Admiral's hands are gentle against her shoulders; the ghost of a touch. It is chafing. It is comforting. It makes her nauseous. She hasn't felt this good in ages.

"You deserve better," the older woman had said on those cobbled streets.

This doesn't feel real.

Lami's shoulders are stiff as she is pushed into a large room. Law, at her side, scoffs with a snide remark as the Vice Admiral marches ahead of them. She can't focus, however. The voices;lights within are blinding--

Doflamingo was the flickering light of a candle.

She is now meeting the sun.

"Brat," Tsuru snips at the man in the chair, "meet my grand-kids."

Sengoku, Admiral of the Marines, pauses from the stacks of paper that line his desk to stare at her as though she has grown two heads. His dark eyes stray from her to the two siblings. The bag of snacks in his hands drops to the floor, where a goat happily begins to eat from it.

"What?!"

"I've had them for about a week now," she states, tilting her head up and taping her chin, "however, I think I am going to keep them. It will be good for Kujaku to have friends. They have the grit to handle her difficult personality."

The Admiral's voice is gruff as one of his hands drags down his face, "Your granddaughter takes after you, you know. Do I want to ask where you found these kids?"

Seemingly annoyed at being ignored, Law very loudly exclaims: "On Doflamingo's ship. And if you think you've got free play-mates out of us, you hag, then you're about to be sorely mistaken. You may have saved our lives but we aren't pets. You're brat of a grand-kid can shove it."

Tsuru turns to look at them over her shoulder, steely eyes drilling into them for a long moment before she sighs.

"There's no point in being subtle, then. Close the door, mouse. I've got a story to tell."

Lami had never considered the Marines as an option before and Law does not stay quiet about his distaste for the watch dogs of the government.

Which is why, three months after arriving to the Marine base, the siblings sneak out with a bag full of cash, diabolical plans, and illusions of grandeur. They evade Vice-Admiral Tsuru for a few weeks, but Lami always knew it was only a matter of time before they were found.

And, maybe, there is a small, hidden part of her that is happy to have been found. Happy, even, to have been wanted enough to be chased. Though she keeps her thoughts quiet from her cussing brother as they are dragged upon the large warship, she had in some small way missed the older woman's harsh tongue and soft, ghosting touches.

I was wondering, this might be a bit depressing to ask but, will Lami ever have friends! Other than her brother. I want Lami to have people that care about her well-being and that she can rely on… or would that be too OOC? She seems to be getting unwillingly attached to baby 5 in recent chapters, or at least in my opinion // her sense of self preservation would be too strong to take her with them when they flee from the donquixote family right? ToT

No no, it's certainly not too depressing—thank you for asking! This is a fun question.

You are absolutely right that Lami is very unwilling to get close to Baby 5 and the Donquixote because she views them as "temporary" fixtures in her life. She acted the same to the people of Flevance and St. Monroes. Why would she want to get attached to people that she plans on leaving behind in the dust? Of course, much easier to think this than it is to put into practice.

But to answer your question—yes, Lami will get proper friends. Yes, it is out of character for her..... right now. There's a lot of growth and development still left in store for the Trafalgars.

These friends won't show up until the second "book" for the series and will be a mix of canon and OCs. For now, Lami has tunnel vision and friendship simply has no place in her life.

Oh youre doing asks!!!! I will then compliment your fic in a way i can only do on tumblr: mentally i am printing out your fic pages by page and shoveling it into my mouth and consuming it. Once it has entered my body it diffuses across my whole body and becomes part of my very existence, down to my very bone marrow, where it will remain for as long as my bones exist. I consume these pages like water. It is vital to my continued life. first off, I just want to say your fin is incredible and has quickly risen to a top 2 fic of all time for me. I've been using this story to help me study by telling myself I can only read the next chapter after I've done a 100 question practice test, and I still binged the whole fic in 3 days lol. your characterization is almost as good as your world building, and it is VARY impressive. I have dyslexia so the way I "read" this is using an app called speechify. The only problem with this is the ////////// line brakes. the way it reads it out is so annoying. I don't want to tell you how to write your story, but if you want to change that bit, it would be awesome.

Also thank you for this note! I will definitely keep the dashes in mind for future chapters! Maybe I'll try putting in images instead. Or stick with the regular ole line breaks like my other stories. One of these days I'll go through and edit all the chapters to make the line breaks the same... I think I have three different line break systems throughout the story.

I just remembered this fic existed 😭 I have so much to catch up to 🥺 I'm SO HAPPY. I remember years ago I used to check it out daily and then I fell off the one piece wagon and now I'm back rediscovering the things I love, I'm so excited I'm so happy. I'm lighting candles I'm making honey tea I'm making an activity out of this!! Can't go out tonight, I'm voluntarily letting myself get obsessed with a fic 😭 everything about my downfall is planned.
