Interesting, but still, “I guess I’ll just have to wait and see in about seven months!” The younger sister looked at her older sister with a chuckle. Priya wildly moves her arms in circles and links her fingers behind her back while giving Aria a grin and wink. “Surprise?~” Yes, it’s true, take it in sis, you’re gonna be an auntie.

“‘Seven months’?” Aria quoted this, almost as if she wasn’t sure if she needed to get her hearing checked. “Sis, you’re knocked up?” But then it sank in. The ‘surprise’ sank in and the original question sank in and Aria found herself giggling at the roundabout idiocy of it all.

So she lightly punched Priya’s arm. Preggers or no preggers, she was still a shit for that. “You little shit! You couldn’t just tell me!” Still, Aria was laughing, and soon enough, she pulled her sister into a hug. “Congratulations! You’re gonna be a great mom! Better than I would ever be,” she joked.

“I mean... we’re identical twins. So that doesn’t run in families, last I checked.” Aria, none the wiser, put a finger up to her cheek and continued on, anyway. “But! Presuming we happened to be fraternal. It would only depend on Mother’s genes. And that’s a fascinating thought, isn’t it? I have to wonder which parent would have been responsible!”

“I wonder if twins run in our family             .” Or if their parents were just lucky. Priya wouldn’t mind having twins but she would much prefer if she was to just have one child for her and Kukui’s first pregnancy. | @flawlessburnet

two spirits; one face. twin-verse; flexible time period; closed with @gottamuseemall​. aria, a dreamer at heart, longs for love but looks for it in all of the wrong places. where her sister is level-headed and found love without looking for it ( kukui; @aiisliing ), aria throws herself easily at anyone and still pines over her college fling ( lusamine; @balsamina ). after having moderate success with the interdream zone (but finding she didn't get the respect she deserved), aria joins her sister (and, not so subtly, lusamine as well,) in alola. she tries not to be envious of her sister's happiness and to simply seek her own, but aria doesn't necessarily pursue things in the healthiest ways, does she...?

wow yeah so i finally did that shit. and it’s important and deserving of a full post so here it goes:

her first name is aria. aria has a few meanings, but she was named for the musical term, referring to an accompanied solo piece, often in opera. i chose a “unovan” name because of her unovan upbringing; her parents intended for her to assimilate, so giving her a name that would make her ‘stand out’ wouldn’t make sense.

her middle name, however, is native (alolan), and that would be haukea. haukea, quite simply, means ‘white snow’, and it references her beautiful hair.

this makes her full maiden name Aria Haukea Burnet. in addition, i headcanon that when she’s married, she DOES change her last name, making her name Aria Haukea Kukui.

Burnet could never turn down a gift like this. In fact, it was rare that she denied Munchlax at all, really. (Which she knew very well got on the nerves of many of her co-habitants. The poor dear had NO restraint when it came to munching away at anything he could see!) “What’s this, Munchie~? They had been relentless; Lusamine more so than Burnet, but only because she had always been two steps ahead of her. For all of their flirting; for as much as Burnet had been hoping this would go the way Lusamine was hinting at, she couldn’t help but be haunted by the uncertainty as to whether it would be okay to lay with a recently-widowed woman.

And yet, the husband in question had hardly come up. And yet, Lusamine’s touch ran much too smoothly across her skin for there to still be any (formal) attachment. 

Desperate teeth slid across Burnet’s lower lip, and she cut her flushed gaze upwards, eyes searching Lusamine’s expression as though asking for permission. And, like the merciful woman Lu could sometimes be, she granted it to her.

Burnet could feel herself become suddenly weightless. Lusamine was hers for the taking. And she whined almost, “Oh, Meanie,” ginger brown hands cupping delicate cheeks. “You know I do.” 

Pulling her in felt so easy; so natural, it was hard to believe they had ever parted. Lusamine’s porcelain lips were just as soft as she had remembered them, and Burnet continued to pull her angel in as though their lips could be any closer.

Their catching up carried on past nightfall, when Lusamine insisted that Burnet stay for dinner. She knew the offer would not be refused, having spent much of the day watching Burnet trail after her through Paradise, smiling and captivated, nearly mooning over her like a teenager. And who could refuse her, really, when she so generously offered such decadence and promise?

The time passed by quickly for Lusamine, pleasant and dreamlike as it was– and during all their talk, hardly a word was spoken about her husband. Now, as she sighed sweetly and brushed her fingers over Burnet’s cheek, drunk on wine and fantasy, the absence of a ring on that hand whispered its message ever clearer.

“I truly have missed you, Burnet…”

Lusamine withdrew her hand then, but her eyes and the knowing, adoring look within them continued to hold Burnet captive. For an agonizingly long moment, she said nothing, instead reveling in the way Burnet stared back at her, transfixed, a flush coloring her cheeks. How beautiful that face was, how full of love…

When at last Lusamine did speak, her voice dripped honey.

“If you would like to kiss me, then by all means…” Soft lips formed a smile, inviting, “Kiss me.”
