I’m a loyal Scorose supporter

But I have to say this: You write them as if they are gay for each other and make them end together, or you write them as if they are not gay for each other and make them end in separate relationships. BUT YOU DONT GET TO WRITE THEM AS IF THEY ARE GAY AND in love AND THEM MAKE THEM END SEPARATED BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE ONE OF THEM WASN’T SO GAY AFTER ALL!!! I, as a scorose shipper, find this like a lame ending, and that says a lot. The way their relationship was wrote isn’t portraying a close/strong friendship, it is portraying the begining of romantic relationship.

I’m sorry (again, I’m not) but that was a BIG NO for me since the very start.

My proper cursed child review

SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY

Ok so a lot of people are saying that it’s not that good, and while I see where they’re coming from, I’m inclined to disagree. It’s not a Harry Potter book. I think that a lot of people (myself included) didn’t really realise that until they opened the book. It’s a script. It has minimal description and is almost purely dialogue. But that’s the way scripts work. I’ve read a few scripts before, for school plays and such, so it wasn’t that difficult for me, but if you’re someone who hasn’t read scripts before it may be hard to get used to. I would have preferred another Harry Potter book, and so would most people, because Harry Potter is the reason I fell in love with reading and JK Rowling’s style is what my writing style is unconsciously modelled off. But I’ll take what I’m given, and I was given a script not a book.

Onto the plot. Unlike each individual Harry Potter book, it has a complicated plot with twists and turns that moves along at a pace that is almost too fast. The first three years of Albus’s time at Hogwarts are glossed over quickly, in a way that shocked me, as at that point part of me was still expecting it to suddenly turn into a book with JK’s beautiful descriptions and hilarious internal monologues. But once you get used to the pace it’s quite enjoyable. JK has obviously been paying attention to the fandom over the past few years, as quite a few of the things that the fandom has wanted have turned up; Albus in SLYTHERIN, Albus BFFs with Scorpius Malfoy and plenty of Scorpius/Albus and Scorpius/Rose hinted at. I think that bringing back the time turners was a good idea, as they were the biggest mistake of the original series, due to their use once and then subsequent destruction to eliminate the possibility of them being used again. I also liked that the pointlessness and unfairness of Cedric’s death was acknowledged, and I LOVED the end idea of “don’t fucking mess with time” because any world where time travel is possible needs to acknowledge that. I loved watching Albus and Scorpius come back to the present to find that things had changed for the worst, and I loved their final realisation that both Cedric and Harry’s parents had to die to keep the present intact. But while I loved all this, there were some things I didn’t love, namely the VOLDEMORT’S CHILD plot (I liked the rumour with Scorpius, but not the final revelation with Delphini). This was just lazy and playing into the crack side of the fandom with the bellatrix/voldie ship.

Speaking of ships, I now come to the interesting side of this review. Albus/Scorpius or Scorpius/Rose? I, personally, have always been a Scorpius/Albus shipper, and the extent to which it was hinted at that Scorpius, at least, was in love with/ fancied his best friend is making my heart sing! I’m going to continue to ship that, and choose to interpret him asking Rose out as a spur of the moment decision (thing Ron asking Fleur out) as opposed to another Lilly/James style guy-harasses-girl-till-she-says-yes style relationship. But if you’re a diehard rose/Scorpius shipper I won’t rain on your parade.(Scorpius. Scorpius is the best character in the entire play. That’s all I really need to say on that topic.) Ron/Hermione is brought back with full force and still managed to make me squeal in joy, with the whole “romione is endgame in every universe” thing. Hermione is minister for magic (not to mention a teacher and leader of rebellion in other universes) and even more of a badass than she was before. Ron has become such a dad, but in the best way possible. Harry works really hard and is not great with Albus, and Ginny has stayed my favourite character.

Overall, it’s not perfect, but it’s enjoyable and worth reading.

Scorbus vs Scorose

So here’s the thing. I’m a massive Scorose shipper I’ve shipped that shit for 9 years straight I’ve read pretty much every single fanfic there is out there for scorose. Like even the bad ones. Even the most weird and obscure and undiscovered ones. Like every single piece of fanfiction you can find. I even write it. But the scorose relationship in Harry Potter in the cursed child is not something I want. I’m so confused because it seems like Scorpius really likes her and if Albus and Scorpius had a Ron/Harry esque relationship I’d be all over it. But they don’t in fact after rereading the script I’m 100% certain they’re soul mates which just makes it seem like what’s going to happen is Scorpius is gonna date Rose and then realize he’s meant for Albus then end up with him which makes me sad because yes I could ship it because it really is a great relationship and a huge step for the LGBT community but I don’t think it’s fair to scorose fans that to be honest have completely taken over the majority of fanfics that haven been written about the next generation. We wanted it so badly for 9 years and now it pains me to see it happen but know that it’s not as strong as the scorbus bond and that even it’s not right. I think that doing this halfway trying to please both spectrums isnt fair. The scorose fans arent getting scorose because we can literally see the unsaid feelings between Albus and Scorp, and the scorbus fans are obviously frustrated that theres this whole scorose nonsense getting in the way. Tbh if they had made the play catered towards one ship it would be so much better. Scorbus fans would accept scorose and scorose fans would acceot scorbus. But not that both are in the mix and we have no clear answer im just mad. Its obvious it should be scorbus and if it was just canon i would respectfully ship it and then ship scorose as an au where scorpius and rose are both in shy ravenclaws who read together but now we have this half in half out mess where I have to ship scorose and fight for them if theres a chance they mjght be canon because i have to they are my otp but i really dont want to have to go through the pain and heartbreak i know is going to happen because scorbus are soulmates. Also, not only that but the play is so ooc and doesn’t feel at all like the Hp characters or Hp setting that I feel like of Scorbus were to happen eventually it would feel like it wasn’t really happening in the actual world and I don’t want that and I don’t think it’s fair.

One of my favourite take aways from Cursed Child is the delicious tidbit that Sirius and company once tried to escape from the Hogwarts Express while it was in transit, and were superbly foiled by the trolley lady.

it’s been seven years since deathly hallows was published and we STILL cant get an accurate picture of james/snape/the marauders? like what kind of dystopian hell do the screenwriter and director live in to still think that it was snape who treated lily as a person but james considered her the prize to be won.

snape LITERALLY was willing to trade lily’s husband and BABY CHILD away for her safety. he tried to barter for her life with other human lives. we have ZERO canon evidence that james asked lily out on more than one occasion, but we do have evidence that snape stalked lily during their childhood and beyond (when she was done talking to him, we threatened to sleep outside gryffindor tower! she had to meet him! snape has a CANON history of stalking and harassment!)

but yeah…… the man who joined a terrorist organization intent on the superiority of wizard blood and the dark arts is definitely the man who saw lily, a muggleborn and someone disgusted by the dark arts, as human.

the man who changed, who loved her, married her, who died for her…. thats the man who saw lily as a “prize to be won.”

Victoire and Teddy’s child being so magically perfect like what???

HUGO TAKING COOKING LESSONS WITH GRANDMA WEASLEY AND HELPING HER AT ALL THE HOLIDAYS AND EVENTUALLY TAKING OVER HER AWESOME COOKING

Lucy helping Percy with his job and taking care of him when he comes home exhausted from the ministry.

Rose being so ticklish and Scorpius trying to tickle her and her running down the hallway at full speed while Scorpius sprints after her with feathers and various tickle devices.

Teddy’s hair turning colors to match his feelings so his hair would turn red whenever Victoire walked into the room and turn blue whenever she left for Hogwarts without him.

Lily and Rose continuing SPEW and helping Hermione get rights for house elves. 

 Scorpius and Rose taking muggle studies together and being really good and doing all their projects together. 

 Scorpius and Rose being on the Quidditch team together and Scorpius always trying to protect Rose from the bludgers because duh he’s a beater except he always gets in Rose’s way from scoring and she’s always pissed at him because of it and everyone else thinks it’s so funny to watch Scorpius flail around with his bat and constantly be bumping into Rose while she gets all red in the face. Then at the end of the day she doesn’t care because Ravenclaw always wins anyway. 

 Scorpius with glasses and Rose always lightly teasing him about them but secretly loving how they look on him. 

 Roxanne using the room of requirement to store random prank in shit from Weasley ’s Wizard Wheezes like dungbombs and stuff and then everyone finding out and her selling it in the room away from all the teachers like a black market. Fred finding out and totally wanting in and Roxanne just being like: hell no. 

 Rose becoming an animagus when she gets older because she's always had a special connection to animals. 

 Scorpius' patronus changing in his 5th year and he doesn't realize why until he sees Rose's and he has a mini heart attack because he didn't realize he was in love with her. 

 Dom always taking muggle pictures because she loves how they capture one moment in time and one day her whole entire family collects all her photos and pastes them up at Hogwarts on a huge wall and it becomes Hogwarts first official student art exhibit and then Rose's drawings follow and Albus begins to sing in front of the whole entire school while Scorpius plays the piano and slowly Hogwarts starts to have art classes about how to magically mix paint and stuff like that.

Rose and Scorpius getting married and Ron giving Rose away to Scorpius and just looking him dead in the eye like: I will end you if anything happens and Scorpius just nodding because he can’t do anything else and also because Mr.Weasley scares the absolute crap out of him

Teddy and Victoire sleeping in the same stroller when they were little.

All the Weasleys and Potters and Scorpius spending holidays at the Burrow. 

Scorpius getting a Weasley/Potter sweater in his second year of Hogwarts because he’s best friends with Albus and he’s considered part of the fam.

Scorpius visiting Dobby’s grave for the first time in the summer before 5th year and gets the whole fam to come and garden with him and create a huge secret garden type jungle thing of sand plants and stuff (Cuz they were by the bech) around Dobby’s grave so that when you went to visit him, you could see how much beauty and joy he gave people and how much he was cared for.

Scorpius being to warm and friendly to everyone and everyone absolutely loving him. Him being the type of person who ‘flirts’ with everyone because he’s always making girls smile and touching people when he talks to them (Like their elbows and shoulders and stuff) and he always goes out of his way to do something nice so when he tries to show how he feels about Rose she keeps thinking that he’s like that with everyone and he gets really frustrated until he just tells her that he loves her in front of the whole school and starts a food fight by accident and McGonagall is just like: LOL ABOUT TIME. Then she pretends to get mad and give them detention so they spend the afternoon snogging in a classroom while cleaning desks without magic.

Next Gen Stories I need someone to write so that I can read them and cry

Scorpius winning over McGonagall’s affection by offering her lemon drops the first time he runs into her at Honeydukes by accident in his third year.

McGonagall teaching everyone to dance for the 25th anniversary ball of the war and scanning the crowd for someone to demonstrate with her. Her eyes almost immediately fall on Hugo Weasley and she picks him without a second hesitation. 

Rose being so shy that she blushes whenever she talks no matter who it’s with and Scorpius always feeling like his heart is dropping into his stomach because whenever he talks to her her face just burns up and he thinks it’s absolutely adorable.

Roxanne and Fred always competing to see who could sell the most from the store. 

Fred always feeling like he has to be funny like the person he was named after.

Luna and Harry hanging out together by themselves as old friends and just being awesome

Albus reading the Quibbler and always discussing it with Luna whenever she comes to visit. 

Rose and Scorpius sitting on the windowsill in the Ravenclaw tower together while everyone else watches them being totally oblivious to how the other one feels. Rose sitting with her back to one wall and her knees while Scorpius sits with his back against the window and his legs under Roses with his hands sprawled over her legs while she reads quietly to him. 

Teddy and Victoire being in separate houses and always having to sneak out after hours to see each other because they are best friends. 

Teddy and Victoire finally becoming a couple after Teddy spontaneously shows up at Kings cross station to say goodbye to Victoire and kisses her through the window of the train just as it’s leaving.

Rose being the mastermind behind all the pranks.

Dominique always blowing things up for fun in class and acting like it was Danny Finnigan so that he would serve detention after to school. Then she would purposefully do something else to get detention too and they’s spend hours together washing old chalkboards.

James sending home a Hogwarts toilet seat to Lily in his third year because he knew it would cheer her up.
