Look, I'm not saying that I believe 'The Winchesters' is just a convenient method for Jensen Ackles to play Dean once again so that he can create his own well deserved fix-it for Supernatural, but....*waves hands wildly in the direction of this post*

dean spent so many hours with cas practicing his speech (because cas knows asl like, knows it knows it and it wasnt like dean was gonna practice with eileen because that would ruin the effect damnit) and he got really good at it. he practiced all the time in the few days before the wedding, mumbling under his breath and half forming the signs, just running through it like a nervous habit. eileen caught him doing it a few times and he always VERY blatantly stopped and acted like it was nothing but he is Not smooth and she is not an idiot so she picked out a few bits here and there of his speech before she got to see the whole thing. dean of course really thought he’d pulled it off as a surprise and eileen will absolutely tell him eventually that oh sweetheart, definitely not, but it was way too cute to rib him about. and when it was finally time for his speech, it didnt matter than eileen had already seen some bits of it or that dean’s hands were shaking or that he mixed up a few of the signs through his tears. it was clumsy and emotional and eileen watched him work through it while holding sam’s hand, both of them sniffling a little.

afterwards, when dean sits back down, she flashes him a bright grin.

not bad, she signs. i’d give it a nine out of ten. even though you accidentally said you hope we have lots of...bills?

dean looks stricken, eyes going wide enough that eileen can practically see the signs flashing through his mind. i really thought i had it all right, he says, messily, clearly thinking hard about what that would even look like. it only takes a few seconds for her to feel bad before she starts laughing,

you’re evil, he signs scowling.

i know, she says, and she tugs him into a hug

The thing is. Sam was following him. you can see it. Sam came up from the basement room with Dean, he was right behind him. But by the time Dean gets to the stairs Sam was out of the shot completely. When they pan down to show lucifer, Sam isn't up the stairs, he's barely out of the doorway.

There is no hetero explanation.

Either Sam long legs Winchester who's gone for runs couldn't keep up with Dean the bacon and burger scarf-er because Dean was running for the door that fast , or Sam was hanging back to let them have their moment. How can you tell Dean is in love with Cas? Because Sam isn't.
