DEAL (II) | MASSIMO TORRICELLI

It was cold. Very cold and you thought to yourself that maybe the bright sun that shinned so bright was just a decoy. Just like you were, the decoy of your family to that was supposed to shine bright and attract a dangerous man. A man you would have to give your whole life to with no question, but there could be a possibility that you could get out.

After word had spread of your courageous efforts, the  Italian family were on edge. Supposedly they did not like to be surprised and also seeing that one of their own were unexpectedly killed they were suspicious. They had never heard of you or saw you, so you were a surprise to them. However, you promised yourself to put yourself fully on the line in order to avoid any chance of your second eldest sister being brought back into the conversation.

Due to such circumstances and high suspicion you were forced to agree to come to Italy on your own. You were only allowed one guard and it had to be a female. At first your family weren’t too keen to the term, but after you had convinced them yourself that you would be okay they allowed for you to go. Only under the conditions that you were to call them damn near every hour. 

Once you had landed in Italy you were to wait in Rome for a call. This is where you would separate from your personal guard and fully be in their control. That time was shortly closing in as you watched a black car approach you and your guard. As the car stopped in front on you, two man emerged. Both were respectful and allowed for you to place yourself in the car, but before you could do that you had to hand over your phone and allow for them to pat you down. Also once you were in the car a cloth bag was placed over your head. 

You were completely lost and beginning to sense the fear build inside you. But you keep a mental picture of your family at the front of your mind. This was for them, so nothing as small at a cloth bag over head was to scare you away from what needed to be done. This calmed you and allowed for your mind to remain calm, especially after the car begin to move. Thinking of your family and counting the miles, while keeping up with the directions kept your mind occupied, but also alert. Since you were young you had taken it upon yourself to always know where you were going, so you could always find your way home.

All your senses were on high alert, but your knotless braids made it a little hard, due to them being so close to your ear. Still you were able to hear everything around you from the smooth engine to every little bump in the road. You could tell a certain route was being taken, but also extra roads as well as a way to trip you up. But you were too used to this way of life, unlike in Africa when things like this occurred you would hear a louder engine and be on even rougher terrain. 

Soon you arrived at your destination after sensing the car completely stop and one of the men turn off the engine. You though that once you were out of the car you would be relieved from the bag, but no the bag was kept on as you were helped out the car and guided somewhere. From what you could feel you believed that you had been walked from the outside, into a home and that was confirmed by the moment you were sat down in front of a fire place. 

You had known it was a fire place by the crackling of the wood and heat that came toward your body. It made you relax a little, but you knew not to let your senses rest just yet. And you were right because even though you waited in that same spot for almost an hour you started hearing voices and foot steps. They were of course coming towards you, but they suddenly stopped and began to speak. 

From what you could make out from the set of feet and voice you counted four men and they all spoke in hushed voices. Though it wasn’t much you could hear, the little that you could make out confirmed your thoughts. They were talking about you. It had seemed there was a divide on who approved on you, but it was a different kind of approach from each side. It seemed the main argument was if you were going to be a useful and pretty. You kind of took that to heart, but suddenly you felt a gush of wind.

Due to you reflexes you immediately turned the way of the wind. Before you could really understand what was going on, question were being asked and you were answering on pure instinct. But there weren’t question like who were you or where you were from. They were tactical question, like how many miles outside the city were you to how many voices were in the present room. As you answered you kept a calm demeanor. 

“You see they sent a trained killer.”

One of the unknown men said. 

“No. She is the daughter of one of the most feared crime bosses. I take she’s been taken a few times.”

Another said.

“Maybe, maybe not.”

Now that voice was completely different and once he spoke there was a new presence added to the room. Something was off and that it how you knew fully that the man in charge had officially showed up. You were now fully alert and un relaxed. You could sense the other men get tense as well and quickly leave the room leaving just you and him.

The room had gone completely silent and the only thing that could be heard was your heart rate picking up. For some reason your nerves were uncontrollable and you lost him. His movements seemed to have stopped and even his breathing was hard to track. However, his smell lingered and you tried using that to pick him up, but you too long.

Suddenly the cloth over your head was snatched causing you to gasp and you were face to face with the most handsome man. However, despite his attractiveness you did not know that you had fully agreed to give yourself to the human form and presence of the devil.

A BREAK? (II) | JORDAN BAKER

If you had known that your relationship with Jordan is what was holding back the inner bad bitch, then in all honesty you would’ve broke it off sooner. From what you has seen in the past couple of months within yourself and him it seemed like your relationship wasn’t really beneficial. He had won a championship and you had discovered a whole new side of life. 

The moment you had fully let go of everything and that meant that entire Beverly Hills facade you were putting up. Sadly, that included Olivia too, it hurt, but you just couldn’t bring yourself to have a friendship with her because no matter how hard you would try Jordan somehow would still be in your life. You needed him fully eliminated in order to heal because the two of you shared a level a toxicity that you knew would only bring you down. 

So you began building a whole new life outside of Beverly Hills and that life took you all the way to East Los. You would think you would’ve probably found yourself in Crenshaw, but your Afro-Latina heritage was calling out to you. 

It started out by getting a job at a soccer plex and that turned into meeting all kinds of people. Making new friends was a form of healing for you because all the friends you made became your new support system. They taught you to love yourself unconditionally and accept your flaws. They also introduced you to a way of life that humbled your way of thinking and being grateful for every waking moment. 

You began hanging out with them so much that after school you were practially running out of Beverly to beat after school traffic to make it to Tio Julio’s in time. It became an everyday thing for you and as you began to change so did your body. You and others couldn’t help but notice your once flat ass add some weight and the muscle to your legs. With your figure changing, so did your style. 

Like today, you sat in class with a black Baby Phat crop top on, black biker shorts that shaped your ass, and a pair of fresh ass Air Forces on your feet, topped with gold accessories. All day you could feel the stares, but didn’t care. All you cared about was getting the hell out of this last period. Tonight you had your first date with one of the soccer players you met at your job. He was a little older than you, but you were tried of entertaining these little boys, you wanted a man, simple. 

The minute the bell rang you packed up your things at the speed of light and booked it to your locker. On your way to your locker you breezed past JJ, Olivia, and Jordan. However, you didn’t notice them due to the fact your attention was on something entirely different, but they noticed you.

“That Y/N?”

JJ asked looking you up and down, earning a slap to the head from Jordan. 

“Who else would it be idiot?”

Jordan growled out looking over at you, he watched as you pulled out your phone as you put away your books. He couldn’t help put notice your glow and how you smiled down at your phone. A tang of jealously hit him once he realized it was no longer him that was responsible for that smile. No matter how many games they won or rings they got, he didn’t care for any of it if he didn’t have you. 

After JJ’s party he’d come down from his newly single high and realized you weren’t waiting on him like he had expected. Olivia had to let him know that no girl was going to wait around for him to come to his senses. She reminded him that you needed to live your life as well, but he didn’t expect for you to live you live completely apart from him. He had gotten so caught up in the temporary lifestyle that he didn’t see the permanent stability you provided.

For you on the other hand you could only wish the best for him and continue to grow within yourself. You finished up at your locker and right as you closed your locker you were getting a call from your date.

“Hello?”

“Come outside mami.”

Confused you hesitantly began walking outside and there he was. Leaning against his Range Rover in all black holding a bouquet of roses. You couldn’t help but smile. You heart fluttered a little because you weren’t used to this kind of treatment and for once you finally felt worth it. However, you learned that something such as a man wasn’t what defined your worth, it was completely trusting that you deserved it. With the amount of patience you built and confidence wasn’t for a man, but for yourself. You were glad you had taken the time away from the Hills, Jordan, and all the superficiality that was causing you confusion. Now with the new mindset you had you were completely ready to leave Jordan and that life behind.

Smiling you gave your date a hug and allowed for him to open your door for you. Getting in you caught Jordan’s eyes and you once saw the same hurt that you once held in your eyes. All you could do was offer him a small smile and hope that he would find himself just as you had.
