it’s remarkable how much money you can save by not leaving the house and not eating and not moving

In Aeschylus, Cassandra screams in translation. She is a noble Trojan, now enslaved by the Greeks, and the house she is dragged to is a horror. She stands in the doorway and screams the unspeakable future: the house is lit red with blood, she forsees it, she cries out her own death. Actually we should say that Cassandra screams outside of language. The scream is to gash the fabric of normal life, to rend it into strange tatters. Then it is open to prophecy. Then Cassandra lives in the own future.

I Want You To Quiet Down by Patrica Grullon
2011, acrylic and ink on wood
This got taken down for violation, even though it’s a perfect example of what is supposedly allowed. So I’ll put it back up for the three minutes it’ll be allowed up. 😴
