Does katherine know that north is married to Krampus? If so/not, then how would she react if/when she found out that north was in some enemies to lovers shit with Krampus?
(Ps I’m fully convinced that katherine read a bunch of enemies to lovers books at one point)
She was probably the second or third person to find out they were seeing each other. It took her a while to understand, yes she did read up on similar situations to get more information, but ultimately she supported them. Krampus proved to be self aware and was more than just his job or center.
Katherine eventually approved after officially meeting Krampus on peaceful terms and swapped stories with him about North. Its very likely she was there as a witness to their secret wedding.

I just realized something about the crystal in the Rise of The Gaurdians movie....THAT WAS PROBABLY MADE BY NIGHTLIGHT!
You know I never considered that. If we tie the two narratives together loosely I can see that. He could make diamonds or crystals out of tears so he could have made it as a direct way to talk to Manny.

The scrapped concept art of that Wish movie made me chuckle bc "oh a star boy?"
We coulda had a Disney brand version of Nightlight but the cowards chickened out. Granted it looks like a mix of both star boy and mischief boy but we could have had it all.

North and Krampus headcanons/lore
Krampus was always called “The shadow of St.Nick”, but he for sure existed before North ascended to his legendary figure status. They became aware of each other on Krampusnacht(Krampus Night), on the 5th of December. North saw the large goat-like demon man terrorizing children and intervened. Each year since they butted heads on Krampusnacht but left each other alone on December 6th( The Feast of St.Nicholas ). Over time, they saw greeting cards(Krampuskarten) that people made of them and found it quite humorous. Of course North loved to make fun of how humans made him look like a devil but Krampus couldn’t ignore a certain vibe the cards had when depicting the both of them
(Examples below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the creation of the Krampuslauf (A parade that takes place on Krampusnacht where people dress up as Krampus or St Nick.) North found it interesting enough to actually participate with Krampus, if he didn’t actually harm anyone during the parade. They found themselves having bundles of fun marching through the Alpine region together with the humans dressed like them.
Each year that passed with them joining together for festivities, they started seeing each other more like friendly rivals rather than enemies. North didn’t approve of what Krampus did to children so Krampus tried to find a compromise. It was extremely frustrating because Krampus did not fear MIM or the other guardians one bit, North was the only one he genuinely cared about. North even found small gifts on Christmas, that Krampus made for him. The first gift he ever made was a bronze bracelet that had carvings and braids that reminded North of ancient germanic jewelry. Naturally, this made a tradition between the two to secretly leave each other small gifts each year before the year’s end.
Pitch has teamed up with Krampus on occasion on his holiday to scare children/punish the naughty children. Krampus didn’t participate in plots Pitch had to overthrow the guardians however. He saw too much value in the balance of things and refused to try to take North’s spot or holiday. Pitch respected Krampus too much to insult the entity, so he silently assists Krampus each Krampusnacht after Krampus breaks away from the parades.
Pitch slowly became more and more aware of Krampus and North’s odd relationship. He assumed they were “frenenemies” and found it hypocritical that North respected ‘his shadow’ and tried to stop Pitch’s handiwork. (Krampus didn’t try to do half the things Pitch did but go off Pitch.)
It wasn’t until he accidentally caught them sharing a peculiar embrace, that he learned the true nature of their bond. Despite having ammunition against the two, Pitch kept a tight lip out of respect for his ally, not for North’s sake.
Krampus and North share an interesting relationship in modern day, where North tries his best to keep it hidden from his fellow guardians as best he can. For what would they think of him doing more than just fraternize with his holiday rival?

Father Butcher, The Cannibal Frenchman(Loremas post#2)
(A fair warning as this legend contains child murder and cannibalism)
You'd be surprised to hear that there are two cannibal french xmas spirits, which isn't a lot but weird that its happened more than once.
His name is Pere Fouettard, translated from french as "Father Whipper", but he's also called "Old Man Whipper" by some. His region(s) of origin are North-Eastern parts of France and Southern Belgium.
Tumblr media
He is often described as a sinister shaggy looking man with unkempt hair and beard carrying a backpack of switches. It varies on what he carries, like all bad cop spirits that accompany St.Nick.
His story however surprised me in my research and it goes as follows with occasional variations:
"Three young boys were off by themselves to finalize their enrollment in a prestigious religious boarding school, when they are approached by a butcher, sometimes an innkeeper, that lures the boys over. He offers the boys some food, as one version describes, but the children quickly discover that the seemingly harmless man drugged them. He and his wife were said to have slit the children's throats, cut them into pieces and store their dismembered bodies into a barrel to stew for dinner that night.
St.Nicholas overheard the commotion and discovered the horrific fate of the young children. He opened the barrel and resurrected the young boys. Pere Fouettard's reaction varies on which telling you read. Some say he regretted his actions and became a servant of St.Nicholas to repent. Another says St.Nicholas was so disgusted by Fouettard's actions, that he forced the butcher into servitude."
So yeah, kind of an understatement that this guy might be one of the creepiest coworkers that St.Nicholas has. Good for any need for a villain in narratives surrounding North, or to be the reluctant servant character. Does he deserve a chance to repent? That's up to the writer.

The Christmas Spider (Loremas post #1)
(This post is safe for Arachnophobes as no irl spiders or spider imagery will be displayed except for a fake ornament of one<3)
We are kicking off Loremas with one of the most adorable Christmas Legends I've had the pleasure of researching.
This legend originates from Eastern Europe, but is very prominent in Ukraine. The story goes as follows.
"A poor but hardworking family were struck by an incredible loss of the man of the household, leaving the mother to be a widow. However she managed to keep her children's spirits high even if their house wasn't in the best shape, their love for one another was stronger than steel.
One day, a pinecone fell through a hole in the ceiling and onto the dirt floor of the home. It had already took root by the time the kids noticed it, but they were beyond excited. They could finally have a Christmas Tree that year and their mother agreed to keep it.
However, when Christmas eve arrived, they couldn't afford decorations for it. The children and their mother went to bad, saddened that they didn't have one decoration for their lovely tree.
When they awoke that Christmas morning, they were astounded to see their tree adorned with cobwebs all over the branches. The sunlight hit the cobwebs, revealing shimmering colors of silver and gold. They had never seen such incredible decorations and wept for joy. That family was said to have been blessed and never went into poverty ever again."
The origins of this folk tale are unknown but it is believed to have come from either Germany or Ukraine. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
In Germany and Poland, it is believed to be good luck to find a spider or a spiders web on Christmas. Little spider like ornaments called Pavuchky are quite popular in Ukraine. They are usually made of paper and or wire. Artificial spider webs are also not unheard of for decorating the trees. Its believed this tale was also the origin of Tinsel being used.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How could it fit into the ROTG universe? It's quite simple! The Christmas spider could be a helper of North's. In charge of decorations for the workshop, or the North pole or for a family in need. North would keep the spider safe and happy in his workshop. Maybe he even made a pathway for it along the walls. It would be a cute addition to his team.
Hope you enjoyed this tale <3

If your pumpkins seemed to have vanished from your porch overnight, don't worry! The autumn spirits wanted a snack and probably shared it with your neighborhood wildlife.
You'll know if Jack Frost took them by checking if the dew on your grass looks frosty.
Although Pitch isn't a seasonal spirit, he is prone to taking a seed or two. Though he's more notorious for taking halloween candy that ended up under kids beds. Especially secret stashes.
Mother Nature is never caught. She is simply too good.

The Rotgoc fandom is no stranger to misconceptions, like somehow saying Jokul Frosti is Jacks norse counterpart when Jokul n Frosti are two seperate spirits etc. You guys know that I'm sure.
One that nags at me is the notion that Jack Frost and "Father Frost" are the same person or spirit. In my research for the Christmas spirits, I've learned quite a bit about Father Frost, and its very clear that he isn't Jack. Father Frost is North, or related to him.
Father Frost comes from a Russian Folktale that goes as follows;
A stepmother orders her husband to take the stepdaughter out in the wilderness to die. The girl is freezing at the foot of a tree and Father Frost appears. Instead of fearing him she's said to be nice to him despite her circumstances. Touched by the girl, Father Frost dresses her in warm fine linens to keep her warm and gives her a chest full of gems. The Stepmother sends her husband to fetch the girls body to bury and to his surprise the girl is just fine. Stepmother is enraged but curious how the girl got such nice things. So, she sends her own daughter out in the same place the stepdaughter nearly died in, to get the same valuable stuff. Father Frost appears but the girl is rude to him, probably demanding the same things as her stepsister. Insulted, Father Frost punishes her by allowing her to freeze to death.
Moral of the story is don't be greedy ig. So whats the connection to North? Father Frost sounds more like a winter spirit than Santa right? Ehhhh kind of. Father Frost is based off of the Slavic counterpart of Santa, Ded Moroz(This is the Russian spelling of his name.) Ded Moroz is said to be either a winter wizard, snow demon. Back then he was mostly called "Morozoko" or "ded". He was reformed to resemble more of Santa around the time of Soviet occupation.
Now, the early iteration of Ded Moroz could resemble Jack Frost, why the literal translation for his name is Grandfather Frost. However, just because Frost is in his name doesn't mean they're related. Ded Moroz resembles Santa more these days or St.Nicholas...so who's Ded Moroz?
Keep in mind I'm not Russian or Slavic, Eastern European countries have differing versions of Santa/St.Nicholas that could just be aliases for North. A reasonable assumption is Ded Moriz is an alias for North. I suppose if you stretched it maybe Ded Moriz could be seperate from Jack or North but due to the evolution of Ded Moroz's character it makes it hard to split him from Santa.
Regardless, I can kind of see why some would tie him to Jack Frost but if you read more about Father Frost/Ded Moroz, it's pretty clear the two barely have any association.

So I have a question for ya...why do you think ombric left Atlanta's(?)?
Ohohohoh funny you say that. Did I construct an entire possible backstory for him?
Yes
Yes i did.
Its a tragic tale. Young Ombric was studious and Atlantis was full of everything an aspiring wizard could ever want. The biggest thing that alluded him was temporal magic. Ombric was stopped from tampering with the past before, so one day he decided to try something smaller. He tried to see into the future. Atlantis was a marvelous city then, so the idea of seeing it developed even further enticed him. Just like Icarus and the sun, he was brash and unprepared. He saw Atlantis' ruin and crumble into the sea. Ombric was horrified and tried to warn everyone he could of the oncoming disaster. Instead of establishing an evacuation an, they simply focused on reinforcing safety precautions. Ombric was cast aside and life returned to normal for them. He continued to try and plead those he knew to flee with him but none walked with him.
Over time it only got worse, the rulers were getting greedier the more human their bloodlines became, more wars were raged and mindless indulgence ran rampant. Ombric could hardly watch.
He knew what was going to happen. Everyone he ever knew would die and none heeded his warnings. Ombric wished to know where to go from there, if he should stay and die with his people, or if he should leave. Just then, a glorious shooting star fell from the sky, pointing him to the land outside Atlantis. Ombric took it as a sign and left Atlantis with a heavy heart. Shortly after, it vanished into the sea.
Ombric kept this close to his heart for countless years, until he finally confided in a fellow mage that he hung out with in the Library Of Alexandria. It was the first time he felt like ancient weights slipped off his shoulders...just for a moment.
To this day, not even all the Guardians know. Ombric still carries some Orichalcum that he salvaged from the city. It serves him as a reminder of what he survived. Katherine, his adopted daughter, watches over the other pieces for him.

Thinking of doing something for fun in December, like shining a spotlight on other lesser known Yule/Xmas spirits. Like a blurb about where their stories originate, their position in the seasonal pantheon and if they're dangerous.
Then maybe adding on how I write them in my canon mayhaps. Bc man these spirits need more love. Maybe I'll call it Loremas huhu. It'll get my ass to write stuff for once when I can finally breathe.

Sry for the spam about Krampus, he’s just my favorite Yule spirit. But do you got any headcanons about his backstory? Like who he was before he became a Yule spirit and he met north.
MAN IM SORRY IF I SAW THIS LATE I HAVENT CHECKED MY INBOX IN A HOT MINUTE HOWDY
As for his backstory, there aren't many like him (species wise) so its probably an Aster situation. Though hes young in comparison. He found himself one day in the cold mountains of Europe and walked until he found some semblance of civilization. Humans didn't see him of course but nature spirits kind of took him under their wing. Teaching him how to survive the cold, blend in with the light and shadows and how to fend for himself.
He grew resentful towards children who were ungrateful for what they had while he had nothing. Thus, he began a campaign to punish the naughty children. His earliest methods..were put of pocket I'll admit that. It caught the attention of jolly St.Nicholas and he was dispatched to the area Krampus was in.
They fought long and hard but came to an agreement since Krampus only came out during December to punish children. He loosened his methods and walked alongside North during their festivities. They'd play fight for the childrens amusement, walk the parades and take shifts together on Krampusnacht and Yule/Christmas.
They grew closer but kept it a secret as they were unsure of the others feelings. to each other after North needed help raising a child he found. (Knecht Ruprecht, german xmas spirit)
