Klaus Hargreeves was planning to spend Christmas Eve at his sister Vanya's wedding. This was a solid plan, and would be one of the better celebrations he's attended. His new sister-in-law, Sissy, was a wonderful woman.

The universe obviously says no to this mostly peaceful plan, and sends a drunk Dave Katz his way.

Bold of you to assume that Dave wasn’t way worse with drugs than Klaus.

Like, Klaus at least knows that what he’s doing is dangerous, and has enough experience with them to know what shouldn’t be mixed and what amounts of each drug will have what affect on him.

Dave was told ‘here soldier take these vitamins whenever you have an unpleasant feeling, doctor’s orders’ and left to figure the rest out on his own. And he has his own issues and has developed zero coping mechanisms to deal with them besides ‘join the military and maybe die a hero’. Oh and therapy? In the 60s? What are you, a crazy person? Just buck up and deal, princess. We at least see Klaus attending group therapy in one scene.

What if Klaus is the more emotionally mature of the pair? What if Klaus is the one who has to be responsible and remain, if not sober, then lucid enough to make sure Dave doesn’t get himself into any dangerous situations?
