May 30, 2020…
Least favorite day in Cleveland history.
February 16 (2-16) 2022…
The Ohio House passed two bills Wednesday that together would create new penalties and stiffen preexisting ones for people engaged in what the law considers to be "riots," and another revoking a current police power to limit the transfer of guns and weapons during a "riot.”
House Bill 109 creates new felony offenses of "riot assault," "riot vandalism," and "bias motivated intimidation." It also enhances penalties for existing offenses like rioting, aggravated rioting, disorderly conduct, and vandalism.

Aunt Esther Gilliam, 1923 - 2021 “Peace begins with a smile” Mother Teresa It was a very small but beautiful service, orchestrated largely by mostly Healys. To my surprise, nobody was very familiar with the Currans. Genevieve Healy Petrik seamed to be the main organizer of the service. I assume that Genevieve was named after another favorite relative of dad’s, Genevieve. But that Genevieve is over on the Curran side.
The whole process of trying to keep up with our distant relatives is a little bit daunting.
Genevieve was very sweet to me, She remembers seeing dad, David, Andrew and Uncle John at the Lake Ave. house. I guess Grammy (Bertha), Aunt Beatie and Aunt Esther would do a lot of cooking for the four boys. As you know, Dad was very young when his dad died. Uncle David, the youngest, was just a teenager.
I highly suggest you watch at least part of the service, 45 minute mark on, Genavieve had a great eulogy / words of remembrance. She mentions the Morgans, Muths, Wagners and others, particularly her touching mention of her Brother Jim’s care for Aunt Esther near the end.
Complete service, I am on the far right in the church.... https://boxcast.tv/view/esther-gillam-wlkslijs2dadelplmgk8
Aunt Esther had 31 cousins, but her only child died in 1967, in Viet Nam.
Obit…
(Nee Desson), age 98. Beloved mother of the late Thomas E. Gilliam, Jr.; Beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (nee Amersbach) Desson; dear sister of Antoinette M. (Thomas-deceased) Healy and the late Joan M. (Raymond) Lamson; loving aunt of Maryann (George) Fanous, Thomas ( Natalie) Healy, Patricia (Ken) Novak, Joseph (Alicia) Healy, Genevieve (Chad) Petrik, James (deceased) (Erica) Healy, Cheryl Lamson and Susan Mendez; loved and cherished great aunt, cousin and dear friend of many. Passed away peacefully October 6, 2021. Esther was born in Cleveland and was a resident of Rocky River for over 60 years. Esther worked as a realtor for West Side Realty and sold hundreds of homes in the west side suburbs of Cleveland for over 40 years. She served as a lay minister for over 20 years and brought communion to hundreds of senior citizens, the sick, and the elderly in the west side community. Funeral Mass St. Christopher Church (20141Detroit Rd. Rocky River) Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. The Mass will be live streamed at https://boxcast.tv/view/esther-gillam-wlkslijs2dadelplmgk8. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the GATHERING AREA AT ST. CHRISTOPHER SATURDAY MORNING from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to endowment funds of St. Christopher School, St. Ignatius High School, College of the Holy Cross or Rocky River Public Library.
My Tree - in progress.

Led Zeppelin, 1971
(from Apple Reviews)
Years after Led Zeppelin IV became one of the most famous albums in the history of rock music, Robert Plant was driving toward the Oregon Coast when the radio caught his ear. The music was fantastic: old, spectral doo-wop—nothing he’d ever heard before. When the DJ came back on, he started plugging the station’s seasonal fundraiser. Support local radio, he said—we promise we’ll never play “Stairway to Heaven.” Plant pulled over and called in with a sizable donation. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the song, he said later. He’d just heard it plenty before.
It hangs together well enough as an album. But the real beauty of IV is as a collection of seeds, each sprouting in a different direction: gentle folk (“Going to California”) and nasty blues (“Black Dog”), the epic (“Stairway to Heaven”) and the concise (“Rock and Roll”). That fans have fought for years over the album’s perfect moment (it’s “When the Levee Breaks”) is a testament not only to the passion the band inspires, but also to how perfectly they capture their own internal yins and yangs. An entire ecosystem of music could be built on the songs here. And it was.
Overstated? Yes—there are times when IV seems to exist to ask why you would overdub one guitar when you could overdub four. But if the flowery stuff doesn’t work for you (“The Battle of Evermore”), the dirty stuff (“Misty Mountain Hop”) probably will, and if you prefer your symphonies to stay in the concert hall, the band still sweats, pounds, and moans enough to scandalize company at levels polite and otherwise. The irony of IV is that it opened a new world for hard rock by embracing the color and variety of its natural enemy: pop.

Samuel Francazio is a talented painter, from my parish, St. Clement, in Lakewood. Sam complimented me recently, on a photo I shot from Lakewood’s Solstice Steps, of a striking sunset over Lake Erie.
Sam then asked me if I minded if he made a painting, using my photograph (he saw on social media) for reference. I was flattered and said sure, but sunsets are God’s work, I just record them.
That let to an idea...
