Let's play some goddamn Nintendo.
Hey, welcome, I'm Pocket, and this is my Gaming blog it's primarily Nintendo stuff since that's what I grew up with and what I find the most appealing, but I try to throw in a little bit of everything, I mostly reblog with the occasional text post or art.
This blog will tend to favor retro games, as I'm a stubborn dude that doesn't spend money on new things when I can replay an old favorite or emulate an old hidden gem, but plenty of modern games will appear too. I will also favor Nintendo games, as that's what I grew up with, but i'm trying to branch out.
There will be no Pokemon content. I find it irritating how much it overshadows other Nintendo franchises sometimes and I do not think it's a very respectable series these days.
Speaking of not very respectable, I'm feeling a similar way about Nintendo themselves lately. I will always be a fan of the games Nintendo has made and will be attached to their franchises, but I cannot say I'm a fan of the actual company Nintendo, and even their fans get under my skin sometimes, If you can't handle the occasional critique of Nintendo's business or legal action, or the quality of some of their games, then following this blog is not a wise decision, and I tend to block people that refer to anyone who has criticism as "whiny complainers", I don't like those kinds of people and won't tolerate them in my inbox or notes.
My favorite Nintendo Console is the Wii, a strange choice I know, but not only did the Wii have some solid titles, but it could still play all my Gamecube games, and it introduced the Virtual Console, which gave me my first time playing many retro titles I missed out on before the Gamecube. And that was before softmodding. The Wii was quite literally my retro gaming machine.

Would you recommend Sonic X or Boom cartoons?
I haven't watched Sonic X since the mid 2000's and never finished it, a lot of stuff was going on in my life and I had to stop around the Sonic Adventure 02 adaptation. I remember enjoying it but I was hyper fixated on Sonic at the time.
All I will say is don't watch the dub, and don't go in expecting video game accuracy, although it's probably the most game-accurate Sonic cartoon we have at the moment.
Sonic Boom? It depends on your sense of humor. It's mostly a sitcom featuring the Sonic cast, if they replaced the Sonic characters with original characters, nothing important would be lost. But it is a pretty funny show at times. Not all of the jokes land for me, but a good chunk of them do.
The theme song presents the show like it's an action series, and there are action sequences, but it's all very low production and short, most of the series focus is on comedy. Go into the show expecting mostly dumb comedy and almost no relation to the games, and you should be fine.

Do you think a Moggie/cat/jaguar would work better as a Mayahem transformation instead of a Stony in Banjo Tooie?
That was my thought as a kid anyhow.

They'd have to replace the Stony NPCs with moggies as well. I don't think it would have made too big of a difference, but it would make more sense than introducing a new race when they already had the cat people.

No. Most of my friends were playstation kids.
I have one friend who had both N64 and PS1 but he's more of a DK64 guy. I don't even know if he's played BK. He played Nuts n Bolts, but idk if he played the original BK, he says he has but he says a lot of things.

I made a phrasing mistake on the Dic.Pixiv thing, but basically the part on the Japanese Nintendo website that was removed before the movie said Cranky was DK's GRANDFATHER, not father. The page that was removed also said that DK. Jr was the modern Donkey Kong's father.
Interesting. Guess we'll have to see if it means anything. I doubt we'll ever know unless somebody who care about DK interviews Miyamoto or something.

Super Mario Land released in 1989 and gave the GAMEBOY its first Mario adventure, and a new member to the Mario cast… Princess Daisy may have been made to make the game more different and unique, but I think she evolved to become even greater.

So I read on Dic.Pixiv shortly before the release of the Super Mario Bros movie in Japan, the part on Nintendo's official site saying Cranky was Donkey Kong's father and that Donkey Kong Jr. was the current DK's father was quietly removed.
Did they name drop DK Junior?
I heard a big hubub about Cranky being DK's father in the Japanese marketing for the movie but never was DK Junior mentioned at all.

Was Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and/or Sonic Adventure DX, your first Sonic game?
First one I owned? Yes, Sonic Adventure 2 was probably the thing that made me the most excited to own a Gamecube.
First one I played? No. As I said before, my aunt had a Genesis with Sonic 1, 2, 2, and Knuckles on it and I would play it all the time. I borrowed a friends Genesis in middle school so I could finally beat the games. I managed to beat the whole trilogy before I owned Adventure 02.

Do you think Tail Concerto is a game you'd want to ever play? That said, its probably best to emulate unless you want to spend a fair amount of money.
It's on my list.
And don't worry, I don't plan to buy any aftermarket games.
I'm not going to buy a Playstation unless I can find a reliable way to play roms on it like how I can just use an everdrive for all cartridge based consoles.
