Hi everyone, I am Lorenzo and you are reading my very first blog post. Aren’t you excited already? Cause I am, with a mix of anxiety, paranoia and pure madness (in a good way, I am not mental, not fully at least). Here I will be posting GameDev stuff (DevBlogs, mainly) and things I will be gathering during the path that will (hopefully) lead me to my entry position in the game development industry. I started “working” less than a month ago at Gamer Camp (Biz) at the Birmingham City University in the UK and here you can go all “Big Brother” on me for what concerns the life of the studio here at the NTI. But you are not reading the very first post just to hear me talking of boring stuff, you probably already know what you can find on this blog. The simple fact you are reading this means you actively looked for it, I told you personally where to find it or you are as mental as the guys I work with. So, hi man, nice to see you again.

If you don’t feel like you fit in the previous description, well… Who am I, really? I am a Student. So keep in mind that I will be posting stuff that can either be total divine truth or complete bullshit, and the spectrum is wide. So, have fun and use other places to learn the dogmas of this industry. You’ve been warned.

For what concerns my life, No, I’ve never developed a game before this exact moment. Though, I am a game enthusiast, a nerd, a geek, a coffee drinker and a funny guy (oh and mental too, but who isn’t). I have been studying Communication Sciences and Medias for 4 years in Switzerland and when I was looking for my master program I decided to go for my passions first. And here I am, “livin’ the dream”. I have been told an infinite amount of time in multiple iterations that “Games are to play, not to make a living”. Well, BULLSHIT! Do you know how much money orbit around the video games industry? A SHITLOAD! Let’s take a popular example: GTA V (4th best-selling game of all times) ALONE earned Rockstar Games more than $3.5BILLIONS, more than what Peter Jackson’s movies made all together (yeah, The Hobbit included in the count, not that it makes a big difference). And now that mobile gaming exploded and VR/AR gaming is at its dawn we are just going to see more and more money flowing in. But except digressions, what I mean is that those people that told me those things were wrong. And now I am waking up in the morning looking forward to get to work, cause I am loving what I am doing. Well, I am getting a lil’ too sentimental right now (and boring man… BOOOOORING!), so I’ll just stop. Hope you liked this pitch of myself, and this relationship we just created, right there, wil make you come back. Just to check up on my sanity maybe, or on the game. Your choice.
