“Is that…is that a gift for Cooper?” 

Jughead jumps in response to Sweet Pea’s voice, his hand slapping down over the cover of the book he’d been wrapping. “Shit, Sweet Pea, ever heard of knocking?”

He’s got a mug of peppermint schnapps spiked hot chocolate in his hand and an arrogant smirk tugging on the corners of his mouth. “Please tell me you didn’t get her a card too.” 

Jughead glances at the envelope peeking out from beneath the gift he’d been wrapping, Cooper scrawled across it in his very own handwriting, and makes to grab it at the same time as Sweet Pea. 

“SP, seriously-”

“This is for your own good Jones-”

They’re in the middle of a heated borderline wrestling match and Jughead prays that the rest of the clan can’t hear them from the cabin living room. That she can’t hear them. 

They’d all decided to take a break from Riverdale for the holiday and venture to the Lodge cabin located so deep in the woods he wouldn’t be surprised if she murdered them all and offered their bodies for some Lodge sacrifice. 

Jughead finally manages to shove the card in his pocket and back away from a chuckling Sweet Pea. “Oh, bro, you’re so gone for her it’s a little pathetic.” 

“I’m not gone for Betty Cooper, fuck off.” 

“Let me guess what that card says then.” Sweet Pea grins as a heat burns the apple of Jughead’s cheeks. He runs his fingers nervously through his hair before shoving his aesthetically gray crown beanie on his head and glaring at his best friend. “’Dear Cooper, I’m so in love with you and those tight ponytails you wear-’”

Jughead shoves Sweet Pea and shakes his head, rolling his eyes. “Give me some credit, SP, you know I’d write something way more eloquent than that.” 

“‘And those sweaters with the jewel things on the collar make my heart race-’”

Sweet Pea backs up when Jughead lunges for him, laughter tumbling from his mouth as he puts up his hands in surrender.

“I’m not going to profess my love for Cooper in some bullshit gift exchange at the Lodges,” Jughead lies with a huff turning to continue wrapping the gift he’d, in actuality, gone to over five thrift stores to find for her. “But if I did it would say something along the lines of, ‘I’ve loved you since the moment you arched that damn eyebrow at me in the Riverdale High cafeteria, Cooper.’” 

He swears he can hear his heartbeat hammering in his ears as he avoids Sweet Pea’s amused yet brotherly grin when a throat clears behind them. 

If the world could split and swallow him whole this would be the most opportune moment. 

Betty Cooper is standing in the doorway with the softest expression he’s ever seen and Sweet Pea immediately jumps, his hand flying to his heart. 

“What the hell, Cooper?” 

“Sorry, sorry,” she says quickly, but her weighted gaze lingers on Jughead’s and all he can do is hope she heard nothing even if he knows by the way her pouted lips are parted that all hope is lost. “I just wanted to let you both know that the gift exchange is starting.” 

“Oh, right.” Jughead’s hand is still firmly holding the wrapping paper closed over her book and he’s trying his hardest to ignore the butterflies exploding in the pit of his stomach.

She’s about to leave when she hesitates and tugs her bottom lip between her teeth, the waves of her ponytail brushing against her reindeer themed sweater. 

“And Jughead?” 

Jughead ignores Sweet Pea’s sharp intake of breath as he fixates his attention on her, much like he always does. 

“I too have loved you since I arched my damn eyebrow at you in the cafeteria.”

I don't know if you're still doing these, but if you need prompts, I'd love to see Kylo comforting Rey. It seems like a lot of the time we see Rey comforting Kylo and I'd love to see a reverse :) Your art is fantastic please don't ever ever stop.
