Why do we close our eyes when we pray, when we cry, when we kiss, when we dream; because the most beautiful things in our life are not seen but felt only by heart.

Because we were looking at the same sky together, which is maybe more intimate than eye contact anyway. Anybody can look at you. It's quite rare to find someone who sees the same world as you

Nothing had changed. I was the stupid one again. I was the girl who never understood who she was to people.

I’ll have to remember you for longer than I knew you, and I don’t think I’ll ever come to terms with that.

Isn’t it funny. I’m enjoying my hatred so much more than I ever enjoyed love. Love is temperamental. Tiring. It makes demands. Love uses you, changes it’s mind. But hatred, now, that’s something you can use. Sculpt. Wield. It’s hard, or soft, however you need it. Love humiliates you, but hatred cradles you.

There was ‘before’ you and there was ‘during’ you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an ‘after’ you.
But there was, and I was in it.
I’ll be in it forever.

I want to go home. I will always want to go home. Even when I am at home I want to go home. But I’m not really thinking of a place, it’s more that feeling of everything finally being over, of seeing the light in the windows of your house on a cold night, of being safe, the relief of leaving a party you’re not enjoying, like when you felt sick at school and they sent you home, or when you got upset at a sleepover and they called your parents. I want my mum to come get me. I want to go home.

The preacher may never marry us and my mama may never know you but I can kiss you over a flask of whiskey and dance with you under the stars and if that isn't marriage I'm not sure what else God is looking for.

I am gone quite mad with the knowledge of accepting the overwhelming number of things I can never know, places I can never go, and people I can never be.
