Holy Week.
Holy Monday - Dagger Man
Sidenote: it's horrendously late, in my own time zone and Holy Monday is gone for good. Hoping yesterday's wonderful SC news are enough for you to forgive me, I go ahead with my short personal notes on what is perhaps one of the most complicated stories of this week.
Enter Judas Iscariot, whose name is perhaps a local corruption of the Latin term for 'dagger man': sicarius.
Who is he? We are told he was one of The Twelve chosen ones, but our Bibles are, to say the least, not very talkative when it comes to this man. We do not know what his merits are and many risk a seriously tragical confusion with the other Judas, 'son of James'. Perhaps in the same way Mary of Bethany is still mistaken by many for Mary Magdalene herself.
Today's episode is a throwback: 'Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead' (John, 12:1)'
We don't know very well where the following episode happens (in Lazarus' house? somewhere else?) and for the first two days of the Holy Week, the Evangelists' reports are either vague or even conflicting. A woman named Mary approaches. Clearly, more than a sympathizer, yet barely tolerated by what clearly is a gender segregated assembly, where women serve a dinner they never join in. Something still very much happening in the Mediterranean world, by the way:
'Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. (John, 12:3)'
Is she a prostitute? A rich patron? I have always thought, perhaps wrongly, there was something very erotic in that choreography, for hair is a very strong sexual symbol and even more so in the Ancient World (think Egyptian wigs and also, heh, Samson). Something that also reminded me of Salome's fateful dance of the seven veils.
Experts have calculated, for dry amusement probably, the cost of that 'ointment' in today's money, which is disingenuous, to say the least. Nevertheless, that's easily the price tag of a brand new Mercedes, with all the bells and whistles. Judas immediately puts things into context and speaks like a corporate CFO: 'Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?' (John, 12:5)
You think this is what a good manager would do, right? Well, think twice. John does not like Judas. At all. He immediately tells us who he thinks that strange man really is: 'Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him' (John, 12:4). And, which is perhaps even worse, a corrupted treasurer of sorts: 'not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein' (John, 12:6).
Jesus' answer to this apparent practical dilemma is very clear: ' Let her alone (...), for the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always' (John, 12: 8-9). Judas' enormous mistake is to transform what obviously is a spiritual matter into a vulgar, political one. Throwing money into the mix, instrumentalizing it for what we would today call 'propaganda purposes' is at complete odds with His entire message.
But sometimes even the voice of Heaven has trouble making itself heard. This is why I have chosen for today a simple, short shofar sound, from Miklós Rózsa 's original soundtrack for Ben Hur:

Holy Tuesday. Destiny
Sidenote: I am guilty as charged - I slept like a suitcase and failed to deliver, yesterday. But since this is, after all, a personal reflection on this very particular week, here goes.
Jesus and his twelve followers reconvene in Bethany, for supper. It is a very heavy, tense moment: 'Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me' (John, 13:21). This alarming revelation seems to be met with stupor, rather than surprise and finally, one of them asks the obvious question, prompted by Peter: ' He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?' (John, 13:25).
Who is this disciple, whom we know 'Jesus loved' (John, 13:23)? All the four Scriptures are silent, on this point, allowing for many interpretations: is it John himself? I would tend to think so.
And then, the most extraordinary thing happens: 'Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.(...) That thou doest, do quickly' (John, 13:26-27). And nobody moves, as if they were completely hypnotized by the unbelievable transparence of this revelation. John himself seems unsure of the reason and thinks of the most plausible interpretation: 'For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor' (John, 13: 29).
The plot is now in full swing. What has to happen will now happen, and with great speed. This humble supper and this heartbreaking moment are all about Destiny and Judas is its indispensable instrument: 'Whither I go, ye cannot come' (John, 13:33).
In the middle of all this subdued turmoil, nobody seems to care about what is going on with Judas. What are his thoughts, what are his feelings. We are simply told that once he took that fateful morsel (because, after all, someone had to do it), 'Satan entered into him' (John, 13:27), perhaps as a way of exonerating that human being of a crushing responsibility.
So we know next to nothing about that personal, interior mayhem that would eventually push Judas to commit suicide. But I have always imagined it like this. A Day of Anger, indeed:

What is going on?
The Meghans bullied Charles's parents into an early grave. Now Catherine is ill because Charles won't discipline his darling boy and that daughter in law from hell.
The press knows Catherine never had a discussion with Sparry (or anyone) about his future children's physical characteristics and yet Catherine took the blame for Camilla.
They have been relentless in the bullying of a sick woman who was far more OPEN about her medical situation than the king in his two (2) sketchy press releases, but the press suddenly has glowing stories about Charles and his positive influence on Catherine.
Charles hasn't spoken about his own cancer, but he's taking credit for Catherine's courage and strength.
Not a peep out of BP while Catherine was supposedly AWOL, but suddenly they have "stories" to share.
Oh and no man is wandering around the wards of any hospital (even VIP) with a foley catheter inserted into his penis while his bloody urine is collected in a plastic baggie just to have heart to heart conversations with his daughter in law on the 1 of 3 days he's lucid. 🙄
Make it make sense.

I don't buy that Mr. Markle was blind to his daughter's narcissist rage and abusive behavior.
"Sharp Elbows" is how the mother of Meghan's childhood friend described MEgain.
Does anyone remember the story about the raging argument Sparry and wife had on palace grounds while they were dating?
If so, correct me if I'm wrong: staff reported they had never overheard anything comparable to this level of shouting & screaming by a BRF member. Allegedly it was this argument that caused the dog's injuries.
I didn't believe the story until they shared photos from the so-called trying to roast a chicken engagement event (at Nottingham Cottage) which included the dog & his broken legs.
We received first hand reports of her narcissist rage while from Australians who witnessed: slamming doors, profanity, disrespectful tone to hosts, and of course the hot tea incident.
I wish I had saved Rebecca's notes bc Sparry and wife have managed to live up to their reputation.

They have an open marriage like Wallis and Edward. These "affair" rumors are just to distract the public from the truth.
Harry will eventually have an affair and get caught out that’s probably what Meghan wants she’s waiting for him to trip up
Oh definitely, if there’s divorce which i don’t believe to be honest, she for sure will make him a cheater. Even if e actually doesn’t cheat. Its easy to make one cheater today if you want to.
She has been laying the groundwork for the divorce for years. From painting him as someone with a volatile temper, to being an absent father.
