we’re all agreed merlin’s list of duties is truly out of this world right and absolutely abnormal for a personal servant to a prince or king. and i know in the show and in most fics his status as a personal manservant to arthur is a widely known fact among the camelot citizens But i feel like the sheer weirdness of his random as hell duties is underutilised in fics… in my head everyone knows merlin as a different guy in camelot. it’s like this ->

the way lancelot had everyone convinced he was one of the most responsible knights but he also committed treason at the whims of a man he met the day before and then also suggested merlin do magic in a crowded hallway just to get a stain out of a shirt (which merlin did). well i think thats very powerful

it’s so sad merlin was put in charge of therapising arthur Omfg that unfortunate boy doesnt know what to do hes replacing arthur’s rare moments of clarity with delusions of grandeur…. what everyone fails to understand is that arthurs moments of self-knowledge and introspection coincide with depression only as a side effect of the fact that he genuinely sucks and his insecurities are true and warranted all of them
