Do you have any writing tips for when you can think of just dialouge for the characters but have trouble describing the situation for when the dialogue occurs? Or how the xonversation even started?

ouff. I write convos as if they were actual conversations - it makes sense for a character to comment, so they do, and I think of what the other character might say in response - and when I think of a convo in isolation, its usually in vague terms, like a topic, or a single line, so its a bit easier on me. 

So I think you should set a time limit for when the conversation is going to happen, and try to have long character-establishing dialogue sequences while stuff happens, and if you see an opening for that specific conversation, insert it. Once you’ve pastiched your dialogue together, go back and edit it for flow.

listening to Gravity Falls episode commentaries is great. Alex Hirsch nearly worked himself to death constantly. Grunkle Stan was nearly voiced by Matt Chapman of Homestar Runner. Literally nothing aside from the twist about Stan having a twin was planned more than a few episodes in advance. The zodiac wheel meant nothing and consisted of random symbols from the first 7 episodes because the intro was animated after those were done. Alex came up with the term “search for the blind eye” to be an extra bit for the between-season shorts before deciding to actually have a payoff for that setup and writing Society of the Blind Eye. Bill was meant to be a joke character and when Alex suggested that he be a real villain Michael Rianda responded “You, my friend, have lost the plot.” Bill getting one episode in the spotlight was basically chance and he only became the main villain of season 2 because he was so popular with the fans. The reveal of the portal at the end of season 1 was suggested by Mike without thinking it through and he left before the next season and the other writers were SO ANNOYED after that went through because they somehow had to keep that plot going for the 10 episodes it’d take to actually pay off. I am genuinely astonished that this show came together as well as it did at all.

I would like all Americans (and everyone else) who are excited for the Superbowl to know: Before the actual Superbowl there's a live tournament on TV, here in Germany, called "American Ice Football".

It is exactly what it sounds like: American Football but played on Ice, in shoes with entirely smooth soles.

It's a tournament with 4 teams and they are called Eastside Ossis, Westside Wessis, Northcoast Naughties and Southside Smoothies and it's just hilariously entertaining.

I live in spawn hill and own a banner shop called the banner haus. I'm also in a completely different time zone to everyone unfortunately so I don't see everyone a lot.

imagine. Skizz and the other new member are getting the introduction and welcome to the server, everyone is there, folks start getting materials and then a hand appears from underneath the ground and crawling up to the surface Oli Orionsound appears, he looks around searching for Joe and goes like "I finally found you!" and then sees how many people there are and is like "Oh, sorry am i interrupting something important" and he just manages to weasel his way onto the server and just doesnt leave and nobody knows what to do and jusr leave Joe to deal with him. Why was he underground on the hermitcraft server, how did he get there? he tries explaining it a few times, always bursting into singing halfway through and everybody listening just gets lost in his story and nods along to it extremely confused not understanding a single word. He and Skizz get along despite that and build a starter base together. its a dirt hut with cobblestone floor. its beautiful

Cannot Stress Enough how important it is to read Howl’s Moving Castle written by Diana Wynn Jones immediately after watching Howl’s Moving Castle directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When he made the movie he was of course upset with war and thus included it in the film, but you gotta understand. You really Gotta Understand. Every time in the movie where Howl turns the door dial black to travel to an absolutely hellish warscape? You know where that same dial takes him in the book? The Real World Country Of Wales

CABINET MAN AU Timeline Information

So I’ve talked about it a little bit but I want to go into more detail about the different timeline of the AU!

this is what i was thinking when i first started the AU and so far I’m sticking to it except for one change! Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitsu is going to hapen AFTER Skybound now, simply because Skybound and Seabound are so close to each other and it seems cruel to put Jay through those seasons nearly back-to-back. Not gonna go into Crystalized yet cuz i still haven’t watched the rest of the season but I’m gonna lay out some key details for the rest of the seasons

In terms of the AU itself, the ones that are the most important are

- Prime Empire (of course) - Hands of Time - Skybound - The Island/Seabound

“But Leo, Hands of Time is not a Jay-centric season and the CMAU is a Jay-centric AU so why would that one be important?”

Hands of Time is the AU that happens after Prime Empire, so it’s kind of the catalyst for the timeline of the AU to get fucked up. In the AU, Hands of Time takes place around a year after Prime Empire! Within that year, Jay was readjusting to life outside of Prime Empire and beginning his ninja training. In that time, he became very close with Master Wu, Morro, and the rest of the ninja. Because of this, even though that season isn’t centered around Jay, that’s when Jay will be doing his first “official” ninja stuff

NINJAGO CABINET MAN AU MASTERPOST

The Cabinet Man AU is an AU where Jay doesn’t join the ninja until he gets found in Prime Empire - prior to this, he’d been sucked into the game as a child and his powers unknowingly have been used as a battery to power the game.

Because Jay being missing causes a lot of issues down the line, Nya discovers her water abilities at the beginning of the show, and Prime Empire happens in season 6′s time, in place of Skybound (subsequently, Skybound happens in the season 12 time of the show)

Jay develops some non-human features from being in his avatar form in the game for so long (pointed ears and fangs) and it takes him a while to get used to being in the real world again, as well as fulfilling his destiny as one of the protectors of the Green Ninja + Ninjago as a whole. He still hides his insecurities behind jokes and his abandonment issues are dialed up to 11.

Other notable AU differences!

- Morro is alive in this AU! He gets resurrected with Cole during Day of the Departed and he and Jay become very close

- There aren’t any “Canon Ships” in the AU but Jay and Nya are still very close, Jay is very flirty with both her and Cole. This is because I’m a multi-shipper myself and want people to enjoy the AU no matter who they ship with who!

- There’s a new order to the seasons that is more detailed in a post I’ll link below

- Jay is so used to his electricity being in constant use that he has a hard time reigning it in when they first get out of the game, and he tends to stim and snap and spark to release the excess.
