as promised, i have so much to say about your work (this being the first of many!). i read this coming home from a long day that left me absolutely exhausted, and just like heeseung in the fic i left my socks on the floor by my door AHHH sue me! (i picked them up after reading this tho dw)

there's a quote by bell hooks that goes, "to love somebody is not just a strong feeling - it's a decision, it's a judgement, it's a promise," and i think that really showed in the way you described the familiar love between these characters. things like "the spark" or "getting tired" or romantic gestures always come up when people talk about long term relationships frrrr. but i think your description of coming home to him, him whistling your favorite song, remembering the things you don't remind him are great examples of the little things that make up that commitment. being able to describe it and show that without saying it— chef's kiss!

reading this and having y/n reminisce about young love made ME feel like an old woman 😭 also the mango bits part was so relatable PLEASE. it was such a delight reading this, it was warm and lovely, and described a love i want someday. i could tell you're a very knowledgeable person hahaha. thank you for writing this <3

you confessed to heeseung on valentine’s day.

and in your own opinion, you had never looked better in your entire life — or maybe you thought that because it was your first time spending more than an hour and a half getting ready. not a hair on your head was out of place and your lip gloss was shiner than the silver-chained necklace looped under the collar of your uniform.

you had a heart-shaped box of chocolates clutched to your chest with a crimson red rose taped to the top as you walked into school that morning. your heart was beating out of your chest and you couldn’t tell if it was the nerves or the chilly weather that left you feeling lightheaded.

overall, your appearance had earned you more compliments than you had gotten during the whole semester, considering that you’d normally never even bother to properly tuck in your shirt for starters. and it was all in the first fifteen minutes before you entered your classroom building, but that didn’t change the fact that you were a frazzled mess on the inside.

joined the debate team at first but found it too adversarial so he joins the student government to advocate for his peers instead

brings the most savory foods to class and makes half of the students hungry just by the scent 

once called the professor “dude” by accident and hasn’t looked that professor in the eye since then

will not miss out on opportunities to study abroad and has been all across the world during the summers

uses his writing skills to bring in the scholarships 

you wonder how on earth he is able to balance life and work when he’s juggling 12 things at once, yet he still shows up to class with tidy hair and perfect skin??

throws board game nights with his friends and classmates and has gotten too many knocks on his door to quiet down 

shocks everyone at parties when they first find out he can play instruments and sing

totally causes hearts to skip like ten beats when he brings out his guitar but he’s still clueless to people having crushes on him

zones out sometimes and accidentally stares at someone - they get scared thinking he’s psychoanalyzing them when he’s really just deep in thought about how your belly button is just your old mouth

vice president of the school’s fine arts student organization and spends a lot of his free time organizing studio and gallery visits for the members

always arrives to class at least 15 minutes earlier with lots of enthusiasm

can and will cuss you out in spanish and then say it was a compliment so don’t try him

complains about how unnecessarily expensive art supplies are but then spends the whole afternoon crying when his 34th paintbrush from the local dollar store breaks right before a deadline

after that he applies to work at an art store just for the employee discount 

he’s the person if you ever need to borrow a writing utensil but you better return it in one piece or you’ll face his wrath :)

harsh self-critic and will pull consecutive all nighters because he’s not satisfied with his own creations

don’t worry, he’ll let everyone know when he gets an A

shows up late to class sometimes and not-so-subtly tries to sneak in from the back but would end up tripping over the leg of a chair and the beverage in his hand would go flying 

the only way you’ll see him at the campus fitness center is if you use your imagination

has a doctorate in creative excuses - “hey guys, my hamster has been going through diarrhea, so can someone send me their notes from week 4 to week 11”

somehow does well on pop quizzes even if he doesn’t study

sometimes looks like he’s suffering the biggest hangover, but he really just stayed up all night because he refused to let chenle beat him in this video game and kept on asking for a rematch

that one premed student who majors in nutrition and food sciences

talks about the video of childbirth he saw in class while you’re eating and suddenly you lose your appetite

only brings one (1) pen to class and scrambles to borrow from others when the professor says pencil only

realizes he has left his laptop in jeno’s bag when the class is already halfway in

wears pajamas to his 8am courses (and pulls it off)

doesn’t really do anything beside school work, friends, and his part time job as a barista at the local coffee shop

survives on netflix instead of joining clubs and going to parties

sometimes turns down invitations to hang out and brings his camera outside to take photos instead 

you think he’s staying up studying at 2am but he’s really just rewatching disney movies after drinking his third americano

still aces all the assignments

will not hesitate to speak up or stand up for someone when he notices some kind of injustice

mingles with students from all years and gets away with being rude just because he’s that lovable 

invites everyone to lunch, even the people he has only met once and can barely remember the name of, and you would think he would go to the nearby food truck but then he brings people to a buffet?? 

you hear the loudest dolphin screams across the campus and you wonder if the earth has finally cracked in half but it’s just chenle when a spider landed in his hoodie

no gossip can escape him - he doesn’t start them but he wants to know all the tea

knows everyone’s crushes and will give people knowing smirks lowkey blackmail material

majors in astronomy and minors in sociology

constantly in a state of wondering whether he should switch majors because he caNNOT take the math and physics courses anymore

is the first one to bolt when those classes end and everyone wonders if he’s secretly the flash

says there should be no need for any other fancy math calculations when addition and subtraction are enough for him to get through life

but thinks it’s worth it whenever he looks deep into the sky and feels a sense of accomplishment in being able to pick out ursa major 

wears a graffiti backpack to class and even gets complimented on it by a professor

also looks really cute in his glasses

will suddenly talk about capitalism while he’s shopping because he spent a whole week on that paper for his work and society course

sometimes you ask him for help on homework and he freaks out caUSE THERE WAS HOMEWORK??!

works at the campus library but is a little clumsy and toppled over a whole shelf of old poetry books with broken spines - he spent weeks reorganizing it again and putting the pages that spilled out back into the respective books

chenle once told him there’s a ghost haunting the library and now he flinches whenever he’s working night shift and there’s the tiniest noise behind him

You weren’t one to be too nit-picky about whether or not you received texts from your significant other first thing in the morning, nor were you too bothered if they forgot to send you a goodnight text. But after what you heard the other day, even though it may have been some sort of friendly banter, you just had to talk to Yeonjun about it.

“Hey, can I talk to you?” Walking into the kitchen, where you found your boyfriend sat by the breakfast bar, phone in hand and eyes attached to the screen. He hummed in response for you to continue, but you realised he wasn’t looking at you. Other times, you would have continued talking, but you felt like you needed his attention just this once.

Without saying anything, you stood there, silently waiting until you knew you had his full attention. “Y/n, baby? Why aren’t you saying anything?” You watched him switch off his phone, setting it aside on the surface of the table. He shifted in his seat slightly, half standing to reach over and tug you by the hand to walk closer to him.

Standing between his legs you were pouting, looking down at the way his fingers were meddling with yours. You were hesitant to say the least. What you really wanted to say sounded quite embarrassing in your head, and you were just thinking how embarrassing it would probably sound if said aloud. But you tried to muster up the courage to say this silly little thing.

◇ on april 25th 2021 i reached 3,000 followers on my blog!   ↳ this one was a crazy milestone that I never expected! at this point i was writing several social media fics at once and posting chapters every two days, and i was often feeling rushed to post due to my school schedule. still, it was all worth it because you always give me so much love and support, such as this amazing milestone!

◇ on december 6th 2021 i reached 4,000 followers on my blog!   ↳ at this point, i had stopped writing primarily for the boyz and shifted to including other groups, such as enhypen, and i was so worried that i would disappoint my followers, who are mostly deobis. however, you guys have been loving the enhypen fics and i ended 2021 with twice the number of followers i had in 2020! wow! thank you guys again!

「 yeji 」

no one knows you better than yeji, so when she suggested you guys have a picnic on one of her rare days off, you knew it was her way of trying to relieve all of the stress you’ve been feeling lately. it’s so nice to take some time to just lay on a blanket in the sun with your favorite girl while she plays with your hair and two of you share a tangerine. it’s a healing time for both of you to reconnect and destress from the week you just went through. yeji tells you all of the idol gossip and you tell her about your two coworkers who are secretly dating.

“you can tell me anything,” she says, kissing your cheek sweetly. “i miss talking to you like this.”

「 lia 」

you and lia make all of the food you bring with you on your picnic: the little sandwiches, the cupcakes, fruit salad, even the lemonade. you spend the whole morning in the kitchen, laughing and making a mess and exchanging kisses until everything is ready and packed into a basket so big you have to carry it together, one of your hands and one of hers on either side of the handle.

it’s a sunny day, the kind where the sky is so blue it hurts to look at for too long. the two of you lay on your blanket and feed each other grapes while lia tries to convince you that the cloud directly to your left looks just like an elephant (you’re unconvinced).

「 ryujin 」

you’re the type of couple to bring games with you on your picnic. they’re nothing too exhausting if you’re not in the mood to run around, but you guys love playing board games. it’s something the two of you would never normally do together, but it’s so nice while you’re sitting outside in your favorite park surrounded by all of your favorite yummy foods.

sometimes, you let ryujin win just because of how happy she always gets, but eventually she usually catches on and tackles you over it, “you have to try this time! it doesn’t count if you’re letting me win!”

「 chaeryeong 」

you and chaeryeong would have the prettiest, most aesthetically pleasing picnics ever. and you wear cute matching outfits and take lots of pictures which you both post to instagram. midzy might know that you’re dating or they might not, but either way chaeryeong receives lots of lovely comments about her “very good looking friend.”

but it’s not really about how pretty everything looks or the posts on social media. picnics with your girlfriend are always so lovely because you get to relax and stop thinking about anything else. the two of you just get to sit and talk and eat for a while. it’s such a nice change of pace.

「 yuna 」

yuna is always taking videos and pictures of you to watch when you’re separated. she’s so bubbly and sweet the whole time because she finally gets to spend time with you without worrying about her job (no matter how much she enjoys it) or anything else. she can just relax with her favorite person.

you usually have your picnics later in the day, almost as a dinner, and then you walk around the park, saying hi to all of the ducks and squirrels you pass by. yuna takes a lot of pictures of you and the animals :)
