A submission from @matthew_zeller. . I have a passion for creating the new out of the old so I took few years off in between college and medical school to build custom motorcycles including this CX500. . There is a sign in Portland that says “LONG LIVE THE WILDCARDS, MISFITS, AND DABBLERS”. I think that sums up what the CX500 was for a long time - the angles of engine and heads, the huge tank, ugly frame, Comstar wheels, etc. This CX500 build was birthed out of a challenge to take what so many call an ugly bike and make it visually pleasing and enjoyable to ride. . I partnered with a local Marketing Firm - @sproutboxmedia - to shoot a short feature video titled “Twenty-Two Degrees”. The title comes from the heads of the CX being rotated inward 22 degrees - an interesting fact about the bike that adds to the unconventionality of the engine. . . #croig #caferacersofinstagram #caferacer #cx500 (at Portland, Oregon)

@luizvandp says, “I’m 16 years old and have always wanted to build a cafe racer. I wanted To start with a moped that meant a lot to me, a 1978 Honda SS50 that’s pretty hard to find. It’s a moped that handles as a racebike, but is just a 50! I love the motorcycle looks and all the things you can do with it. It was the moped my dad had when he was 16, so obviously we both were pretty happy when we found one we could restore! I didn’t want something built that I wouldn’t be happy with so I took my time with the thing. Most of the time was spent on design with some work on the engine. After 10 months I was pretty pleased with the result. I present it with the biggest pride I can imagine! My next thing is to restore a CB175 if I can find one.” . Thanks for sharing your build, you be your father have done a great job! . . . #croig #caferacersofinstagram #caferacer
