But you know happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.

get to know me ≡ (2/10) movies: harry potter series (2001-2011)
You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don’t recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself plainly when you have need of him.

She was trying to find the right words to tell it how special the moment had been. She couldn’t find the words, but it didn’t matter. It was in her eyes.

“Historical Accuracy” in Fantasy
noneexpectations reblogged your post:
Historical accuracy in a fictional setting
That particular nonsense happens constantly. Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Disney cartoons, Harry Potter (especially regarding the House Founders), Discworld, from books to video games, you name it, white fans have used that argument to try and silence fans of color who wish for more and better representation.
The concept that ubiquitous whiteness is somehow “historically accurate” when applied to these settings, or that the creators of SFF media are limited to this “accuracy” when it comes to diverse representation (but somehow not when it comes to magic and dragons!) is overwhelmingly present in fandom.
And its also compounded by the idea that this obligation towards “accuracy” absolves creators of having any responsibility to the diversity of their audience is especially infuriating. Racism in SFF will continue to be perpetuated unless we interrupt this cycle, and actively (and enthusiastically!) engage with the media we love…but that sometimes does not seem to love us in return.
MPoC in some ways boils down to “Even if we pretend you have a point, you’re still wrong.” The problem is compounded when people seem to believe that fantasy is history. If I can do anything to try and clarify the issue and show people the tools for informed research, I’m beyond gratified.

harry potter meme • [1/6] relationships: harry potter and hermione granger “Hermione had taken his hand again and was gripping it tightly. He could not look at her, but returned the pressure, now taking deep, sharp gulps of the night air, trying to steady himself, trying to regain control.”
