i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

Flash Fic Rec List
Great spike!
short bursts of wind
by bittersweetoranges
Six (6) flash fiction pieces centered around the theme of wind. Except, I try not to say wind at all.
Bittersweetoranges is, sometimes, more of a poet than a storyteller. Especially when given a very brief word count. Her flash fics are masterful morsels of what is, in fact, not said. What is suggested, dreamt up, between the lines. She brings out the magic and emotion in every day life, and does it well. (-Lethey)
Uchikawa
by Tarlatana
Uchikawa is a small restaurant. It doesn't really stand out, blue capony and all. But since it's the place they've been coming to since they met each other, it's filled with memories.
A short sweet tale of a budding friendship between Kita and Ojiro. The epitome of a bro friendship (-haru)
Sticky fingers, butter and bread
by thekuroiookami
A year in the life of (everyone).
12 flash fics dedicated on the altar of Friendship. For the deities of HQ Brofest.
"The T-rex lamp on Tsukishima’s bedside table was embarrassingly orange. It was also anatomically inaccurate, but then again, it was a lamp."
Kuroi's flash fics are a number of vignettes, part incredibly fluffy and cute, part… incredibly fluffy and funny. All of them make brillant use of minimal wording to draw the context, to get a maximum amount of meaning out of such a short set of texts.(- Lethey)
The Digiciser Files
by milksalt
In the future, what is death, if data is immortal?
Somehow packing in an elaborate futuristic world, social commentary, subtle humour, themes of loss, a plot twist and interesting imagery into less than 2k words, one might almost suspect wizardry in the making. A lovely, thought provoking read. (- Kuroi)
Vending Machine
by Inuokasoap
A very soft-feeling, whimsical and nostalgic work on the Nekoma team. Themed around drinks, but feels like that comforting blanket you grew up with - cosy, warm. I look forward to more of this spring-like story. Work in progress. (- Kuroi)
like a shadow
by antimodes (Zostir)
Most of the time, having a twin brother seems like a curse to Osamu. Sometimes, he thinks it's actually nice.
Captures all the vagaries of life with a sibling perfectly - the affection you try to hide, the jealousy that goes in hand with it, how you can’t help but be compared and compare. Underneath it all is a strong sense of undying loyalty and characteristic deadpan Osamu humor. (- Kuroi)
play the fox
by nautilics
this fic is dedicated to the wonderful team that is inarizaki and all the delight that they bring, and to my tl for cheering me on, and for being part of the whole inarizaki experience™
A set of brief but very evocative snapshots of Inarizaki. For as little as we really get to know the fox boys, nautilics really manages to give them real depth and characterisation. Oddly melancholy, but very satisfying flash fic.(-Lethey)
The King's Toss
by leafsong
“Don’t apologize! Because I won’t apologize either. You’re still an oppressive king, as far as I’m concerned. So don’t apologize. I’m not reconciling with you.”
Volleyball is a sport about connection. It’s about finding people you can sync with on the court, sometimes off the court too. And maybe, just maybe, it’s also about finding a way to reach out to the friends you pushed away and lost.
Or, Kageyama gets partnered with Kindaichi and Kunimi for a three-on-three drill at training camp.
Part of the difficulty in flash fiction is getting some kind of meaning, any kind, out of a Very Small set of words. In that sense, this flash fic is brilliantly constructed, because it takes context and back story from canon, and uses it to make a rather powerful narrative. Really good.(-Lethey)
Into The Sky
by museicalitea
Once upon a time, there was a boy who wanted more than anything to be a hero.
Affecting and emotional, Into The Sky is a series of flash fics following Kinoshita and Nishinoya's friendship and subsequently their relationship with volleyball. Beautifully written and constructed, there is no reason to not read this at all. Pass it on. (-Oranges)

Rookie Fic Rec List
Nice receive!
Curiosity
by museicalitea
"I'm glad you said yes to Sawamura back then."
Unspoken: I'm glad I got to meet you, Shimizu Kiyoko. We're not so dissimilar, huh?
A neat little story where Shimizu and Shirofuku enjoy a quiet, neat conversation together about how they both became volleyball managers if their respective teams. (-Haru).
A Trip to the Zoo
by FantyWrites
Oikawa paused as he was about to take a bite out of his milk bread, “You want us to what now?”
Matsukawa looked to his three friends with his usual neutral expression, “Chaperone a trip to the zoo for my sister.”
Oikawa bit into his favorite snack looking unamused, “So we’re going to be watching over a bunch of babies?”
Or
The seijou third years chaperone a school trip to the zoo. What could possibly go wrong?
The Seijoh third years don't know what they're in for in this fun and bubbly fic! Definitely give this one a read if you're looking for some babysitting sheaningans. (-Oranges)
witches, wild animals and other things inside our castle
by heartattacked
“Hey, ‘Samu,” says Atsumu, nudging the other boy’s elbow. “Do you love me?”
Melancholy, mystery and magic combine in this fic to create an unusual dynamic between prince Atsumu and his not-twin Osamu. Vivid colours saturate a canvas that promises more, and the end of the first chapter is intriguingly enigmatic. Definitely food for thought. Work in progress. (- Kuroi)
The Best Laid Plans of Cats and Owls
by Stacysmash
“We need to hurry, Oikawa should be back within the next half hour. It’s his birthday tomorrow and he’s been down about it.” “Why would he be down about his birthday?!” Bokuto cried. “Because we have an important practice tomorrow night and he can’t go home. Plus, his friends can’t make it up here tonight so we gotta make it really special. Any thoughts?” Simultaneously, Kuroo and Bokuto perked up and began to spit out their ideas, and besides several moments where Daichi slapped his palm against his face, they developed the perfect plan of action.
A fic as bubbly as the friends that populate it. If I had to sum it up in two words - birthday pedicures. Our boy Oikawa deserves a good celebration once in a while, and this is it in spades. I love Kuroo’s mom, everyone needs her in their lives. (- Kuroi)
Meeting Memories
by PsychologicalColors
Shōyō is five when his mother told him he was going to be a big brother.
Natsu is born after Shōyō turns six.
It’s late August and the afternoon has barely begun when Shōyō goes to visit his mother. He’s holding his father’s hand as they walk through the corridor. When she looks up, she smiles at her husband and son and beckons them over quietly.
A super adorable story that will give you cavities from the unfiltered sweetness. Following the Hinata siblings from Natsu’s babyhood to Shouyou joining college, every snippet blossoms with warmth. You just want to be adopted into this big, happy family. (- Kuroi)
Hidden Behind the Ferns
by Grand_Guardian_Deity
A snapshot of Yachi’s life in the big city, and the people she meets there. Reminds me of a Polaroid photo in many ways - spontaneous, pastel-coloured, hinting at more beyond the edges of the picture. The unusual choice of Nishinoya for a childhood friend made for a cute and supportive relationship. (- Kuroi)
what could you be
by mangothief
For a guy who tries to avoid making friends as much as humanly possible, Kyoutani Kentarou has managed to pick up a really weird, really annoying, really loud one.
The rarepair bros I never knew I needed - Tanaka and KyouKen. Packed to bursting with sharp wit and manly but adorable interactions, this isn’t so much a story as an in-depth character study. Kyoutani may be the narrator, but a snarky Yahaba runs away with the show. (- Kuroi)
Liberosis
by shittykawa_chan
n. The desire to care less about things - to loosen up your grip on your life, to stop glancing back behind you every few steps, afraid that someone will snatch it from you before you reach the end zone - rather to hold you life loosely and playfully, like a volleyball, keeping it in the air, with only quick fleeting interventions, bouncing freely in the hands of trusted friends, always in play.
Sometimes you just need someone new in your life to help you let go and change how you want to live.
Oikawa Tooru gets to grips with his new team in university, and maybe makes some friends along the way. A rather wistful Uni AU, with the hope, or challenge, of ever expanding growth for our Grand King setter. (-Lethey)
senior management
by mangothief
During her last year as Datekou's manager, Mai meets Yachi and finally gets the disciple she deserves. Futakuchi’s gonna be so jealous when she tells him.
A cute story about Yachi and Mai, managers of two very rambuctious teams, becomign friends. The best thing about this story, hands down, is the sarcastic internal monologue of Mai, who is Very Done, and I can't really blame her because she has to deal with Futakuchi on a daily basis.(-Lethey)
Roles to Fill
by angeltrumpets
After Karasuno loses the Battle at the Trash Heap, the reality that the third years are going to be leaving becomes more apparent. Yachi in particular is worried about whether she really is ready to be the team's sole manager.
The quiet and supportive moment Hinata and Yachi shares in this piece feels very human and real in it's restraint. And so it provides comfort and closure for the aftermath of its premise. A wonderfully serene read! (-Oranges)
A Brother's Duty
by dayoldcupcake
Natsu is acting weird; that is to say, she doesn't worship Shoyo like she use to.
There aren't enough fics that explore Natsu and Shoyo's relationship. And this one is a lovely little story about Shoyo defending Natsu from her bullies, along with a little help from his friends. If you want something cute and sweet to read, this is definitely the one for you! (-Oranges)
to infinity and beyond
by leafsong
In the wake of Nationals, they train, and train, and train, until even Hinata is too tired to jump anymore.
Hinata and Kageyama will always find ways to move forward, and in leafsong's ‘to infinity and beyond’ the Oni and Oni wonder duo share a moment after losing Nationals. The intensity of the wonder duo can almost be felt in the story, the thirst for improvement nearly tangible. A wonderful short read! (-Oranges)

Journeyman and Apprentice fic rec list
Nice block!
Sacred sites
by victuri
Tsukishima doesn't want to go ghost hunting. He especially doesn't want to go ghost hunting with Hinata.
At least it turns out not to be completely horrible. It's partly his own fault, anyway.
For all the Buzzfeed Unsolved fans, here’s the AU you’ve been waiting for. This is a delightful fic floating on the interaction between Hinata and Tsukki, buoyed up by the playful humor. I enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek feel of it. (- Kuroi)
Nine
by asightofdreams
A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three… he stays.
Kenma and the people he’s found in all his lives.
A series of vignettes, one more wistful than the other. These are really rather intriguing, and they flit from fantasy to different fantasy to canon, all well written and with big hints at rich worlds.(-Lethey)
Spectrum
by Inuokasoap
A project nobody remembers, a room nobody can enter, a universe on the cusp of revolution.
A sci-fi story starring Inuoka Sou as an agent for Nekoma, wielding some mysterious weaponry. The universe feels very rich and deep in this, with vivid descriptions and a running undercurrent that suggest that there's a whole lot more where that came from.(-Lethey)
Stories of Us (You and I)
by Wordlesslywriting
Coincidence or fate at play, Natsu was just happy to make new friends.(Aka: Tooru & (sometimes Shouyou) & Natsu & Takeru Drabbles as bffs.)
What can I say about Stories of Us (You and I)? It's hard to put into the words the experience you get from this episodic piece. It feels like an older Natsu looking back at her younger self as well as watching Natsu mature step by step. The sense of time in this piece is strong and colors every scene with something unique that, I suppose, you won't experience anywhere. Simply wonderful. (-Oranges)

Master and champion fic rec list
A no touch ace
We could be royals
by Astinaea
Iwaizumi Hajime wants to be king, but there's a complication. His parents want him to marry before his coronation, but Iwaizumi has never been interested in romance. Luckily, he finds someone who is like him, even more than he first expected.
Aro/ace prince Iwaizumi is trying his best to be a good king, but that involves marrying someone. This fic makes you care for all the people involved as he tries to find a solution, and may also have Oikawa as a protective big brother to Yachi. Full marks for uninhibited cuteness. (- Kuroi)
These coloured strings of ours
by ADyingFlower
After the trip of their lives during the break before college started, five best friends find themselves among the survivors of a horrifying plane crash, leaving them to deal with the fallout of their injuries and dreams.
Shouyou has it hard enough with his career ending injury before there was even properly a career, never mind having to learn to grow beyond the sport that captured his heart and introduced him to his closest friends, and those weird colors he keeps seeing around people certainly aren't helping either.
After all, superpowers don't actually happen in reality, right?
A beautiful and dare I say it, poignant look at post-accident trauma and how our favorite first years pick up the shattered bits of their lives together. Sure, they get superpowers, but the real magic is in the friendship - the little touches, the friendly banter, and borrowed sweaters. The feels are real with this one. (- Kuroi)
seijou should never attend training camps
by rainbowstrucklizard
"They are a very strong team and are worthy opponents," Sawamura's eyes flit somewhere behind the camera when a series of a crash can be heard. "Just wrap them up in a bubble wrap and dispose of them in a cave when not playing."
"Is what I'm saying supposed to be truthful? That can be hard..." Moniwa rubs the back of his neck. "I mean, after almost injuring us -- What do you mean it has started? You've been recording this whole time?" Moniwa's face pales. "Aone get him!"
"They are nice people when you get to know them, especially Oikawa who is much better than -- HEY!" Bokuto leaps up from the chair he was sitting on before launching himself at someone behind the camera.
"Hmmm... They are a handful alright but they can be funny. I mean, if you think about how hard they try to win in all the games but just got defeated so easily --" A shriek halts Kuroo and causes the camera to drop because of how high-pitched the sound was and the cameraman would rather not be deaf. The cameraman is not getting paid enough for this. He is not getting paid at all to handle this.
"This wouldn't happen if they have come to Shiratorizawa," Ushijima reads from his palm. He nods at the camera in agreement.
“WHAT TEAM?” “SEIJOH-” “WILDCATS-” “WATARI!” “Oh, sorry! I thought we’re doing that version.” This story, about the captains and former third years joining Karasuno, Nekoma, Datekou, Fukurodani, Aoba Johsai and Shiratorizawa for a joint training camp, sounds almost like a crack fic, but it's very serious, and very funny. A future fic that is Shenanigans personified (-Lethey)
Shooting Stars
by ChocoholicFangirl
See, here’s the thing: Karasuno Hero Academy was known for producing excellent Heroes precisely because of its experiential requirements. Every student, before they could be allowed to graduate and be licensed, had to first complete a Quest or perform a Heroic Deed (see definitions and criteria in Appendix B). If all it took to become a Hero was going to school, Hitoka’s mother had said, there’d be Heroes all over the place, there’d be a shortage of jobs and Heroes probably would no longer be subsidized by governments. (In which Hitoka needs to graduate, Kiyoko needs to break her curse, and maybe the real Quest is the friends we made along the way, or however that meme goes.)
Shooting Stars By Chocoholic Fangirl is a wonderfully witty story with a wealth of depth and character. There is instant chemistry between the two leads, ensuring that their interactions are a joy to read. But it wouldn't have worked if it were not for the voice of our PoV character, Hitoka. ChocoholicFangirl's Shrek inspired fic is definitely one to look forward to. (-Oranges)
How You Play the Game
by Crollalanza
At the beginning of a new school year, when players have left, and new kids join the club, it's all about bonding. For Suna Rintarou, this also involves a vow to stay away from the Miya Twins shenanigans. But a road race, a cocky new 'kouhai' who isn't all he seems, and Kita-san's ever-watchful eye means no one can slip under the radar - not if they want to be part of the team, and take on all-comers at Nationals.
It's hard to put into the words the depth and attention to detail Crollalanza has put into their characterization of the Inarizaki team. If anything, How You Play the Game is one of the rare fics where you get what is exactly on the tin and then more. From the rich writing to the wealth of shenanigans, this is one fic to read more than once. (-Oranges)

i know were still forever from posting time but if our story has multiple like chapter parts do we need to post them all at one time like during that time in april or can we have like a once a week schedule
Hey, hey, AnonWe do ask you to post your entry for the challenge within the allotted time, but if it is a longer multi-chap, you can, of course, post later chapters at a later date. Only the chapters posted within those three days are counted towards your total wordcount for your tier.
