GIF NOT MIND
The trip was highly unexpected and for Task Force 141, more or less needed. Especially after their last mission.
It was all Price's idea to take a trip to the states for a week long camping trip out in the woods. He advertised it as a casual training retreat though the others knew better. Especially after eying some fishing gear. When it was revealed the team was going across the pond on a commercial airliner, it was Ghost who requested he bring a plus one. Someone who could help them navigate a civilian airport.
He offered no other details when making the request. Just that Price order one more ticket and get him the flight details once he had them.
The day before the flight, Ghost sent the team instructions from his plus one. A time to be at the airport, what to keep in pockets, in their carry-on, what not to bring. The instructions, Soap noted, were oddly specific and clearly from someone who knew their stuff.
But once again, Ghost offered no details.
The morning of, Soap was one of the first to arrive at the airport, followed by Price then Gaz. Which had the others a little confused considering it was Ghost's plus one who told them exactly when to be at the airport.
"Who do you think Ghost is bringing?" Gaz asked as the three men stood off to the side, each with a backpack and a duffel bag. Price had a couple of extra bags, filled with camping gear he was told could go on the flight.
"Another solider maybe." Soap answered, not too sure since the L.T didn't exactly talk about his private life. In truth, the Scott's man could hardly see his L.T with someone who was his romantic partner.
"Maybe." Gaz hummed as he glanced to the side, clearly on the lookout for his L.T.
A few minutes passed before Ghost was spotted with someone no one expected.
They looked tiny compared to Ghost and was clearly a civilian. They were dressed for comfort as instructed, holding only a stuffed shark. Ghost, meanwhile, was carrying his backpack on his back, a duffel in one hand and other backpack in his other hand. He too was dressed for comfort which also included a black medical mask and a hoodie over his head.
"Sorry for the wait!" The civi greeted with a smile, not at all caring about how they had three men gawking at them.
"There a problem?" Ghost grunted, eyes narrowing from under his hoodie as he stood behind the civi.
"Nosir." Soap and Gaz answered before sharing a look, both of them possibly entertaining the idea of turning into five year olds with their jinxes.
"So who's this?" Price asked, shifting what was in his hands to shake hands while completely unbothered by Ghost's attempt to scare his teammates into not asking questions about his friend.
"(Y/N). Pleased to meet you. Simon told me all about you all." The civi smiled as they shook hands with Price, holding the shark in their other hand. "I'm Simon's partner." They added, either not seeing or caring how wide the six pairs of eyes got.
"Simon Riley?" Price muttered in total all. "Our Simon Riley?"
"You're his partner?" Soap asked, gearing up to ask a million questions as he shifted his weight before he was stopped as Ghost placed a hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder.
"Why don't you go start checking us in?" He asked with a voice none of the 141 had ever heard come out of his mouth. Meanwhile, (Y/N) just lit up as they clapped their hands together while minding the shark in their arms.
"Yeah! Bring your stuff over boys so they can get weighed and tagged!" (Y/N) instructed as they headed towards a kiosk that didn't have a line in front of it with Simon right behind them, clearly giving no room for the others to ask anymore questions. Though, one thing did catch Gaz's attention that he questioned instantly.
"Is that a plush dragon key-chain on Ghost's bag?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Checking in was the second easiest thing one could do in an airport. Finding the gate was the third and boarding a plane was the first. But getting through security?
A struggle even for seasons airport vets.
It had been a struggle on it's own to convince Simon to forgo his usual balaclava and only wear a medical mask. But getting him to lower it for a brief moment for security to see his face was even rougher. And if that wasn't rough, trying to guide four hulking men through security was even more rough. (Y/N) had no idea how they managed to do it, but they somehow did.
"I told you; comfortable and easy to take off shoes." They huffed, glaring at Gaz, who was struggling to tie his boots back up.
"Sorry sir." He answered almost automatically and with a very kicked puppy look to his face that had Soap snickering.
"And you!" (Y/N) turned to Soap, who was quick to shut himself up as his back straightened up. "I was clear about what size bottles you could bring in your carry-on. And yet! A whole ass bottle! Regular sized too! Those go in your checked bag in a clear baggie. Not the carry on."
"Yessir." Soap responded, head lowering to join Gaz in a mini pouty party as (Y/N) turned to Price to possibly unleash their own judgement on the poor captain.
"You're fine oddly enough. But you are the captain." They sighed, grabbing their stuffed shark from the last bin as Simon made his way over, ready to go.
"Thank you." Price nodded with a hint of a soft sigh of relief in his voice.
"Could have worn better shoes but whatever." (Y/N) mumbled, turning to look for a sign ahead and above them.
"There it is." Simon mumbled, adjusting the two backpacks on his shoulders.
"Don’t suppose you've got anythin' to say 'bout Ghost here?" Soap asked, not bothering to look at the look he was currently getting from Simon. After all, the Sargent already knew based on the chills on his spine what kind of look he was getting.
"Nope." (Y/N) answered, turning to look at Soap with a smile. "It's caused he listened. This way." They went on, walking off with Simon right behind them as the two of them left the rest of the 141 standing at the end of security stunned.
"Creepin' Jesus." Soap muttered, grabbing his bag from off the ground before following.
"Well at least we know where they get it from." Gaz commented with a sigh and a slight shake of his head. "Who knew Ghost even had someone?"
"I did." Price answered, following behind Gaz and Soap as the two turned to look over their shoulders at their captain.
"Really sir?" Gaz blinked.
Price simply chuckled. "No. Hadn't a clue. Probably for the best."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So how'd you and Simon meet?" Soap asked as he stood next to (Y/N) at a Starbucks. Their gate was nearby and with little over an hour before boarding, Simon gave (Y/N) his card and sent them on their way. Soap was quick to follow under the guise that he wanted something as well.
"Book shop." (Y/N) answered, not really looking up from their phone. "I work at one and he came in one day looking for a book. I helped and he just kept coming back. After a while, he asked for my number and the rest is history." They went on, glancing up at Soap as he nodded along.
"How long?" He asked, expecting a small number. Like maybe a few months. Something less than a year.
"Erm…year and a half. Getting close to two now." That had Soap nearly choking on his breath.
"Th-that long hu?" He muttered as their order was called out as ready. The answer he had been given was far from what he had expected.
"Simon has told me all kinds of things about you guys. Says you're all good guys. Even if the annoying Scotts who can't speak English is…all that." (Y/N) giggled, sipping on their caramel frappe as they turned to start walking back to the group.
"Fuckin' 'ell." Soap sighed, following close behind. Still, it was nice to hear that he had some positive comments thrown his way.
Each one of them in their group had taken a seat at the gate, their bags marking their spots. Price was by the large glass windows that overlooked the taxi and runways, making small talk with another guy who was currently standing there as well. Gaz had wondered off somewhere while Simon remained with their things, sitting down with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Hiya!" (Y/N) cheerfully greeted as they bounced over to take a seat next to the L.T on his left side while handing him his card. Soap had some amusement watching as Simon took the card while handing over the stuffed shark he had been tasked with guarding back to his beloved with great care. It was jarring to see this side of the L.T but it suited him.
"All good?" Simon asked with a bit of a grunt in his voice as he wrapped his arm around (Y/N). The seats weren't the most comfortable things in the world Soap noted as he took his own seat. But the squad had sat on things that were more uncomfortable then these.
"Yeah." (Y/N) nodded as they settled into their seat, leaning against Simon with a soft sigh.
"Where's a snack?" Simon asked not even a second later and when he got no verbal answer, the sigh he left out reminded Soap of a dad's disappointed sigh. "I thought I said to get yourself a snack."
"You did." (Y/N) hummed, making it very clear they had both forgotten Soap was sitting across from the two of them as he watched with almost bated breath. Hell, Soap was expecting Simon to start tearing them a new one of some sorts. But to the Sargent's surprise and relief of some kind, he didn't. Instead, Simon just stared at (Y/N) for a good moment before he sighed and carefully stood up, minding the fact he had (Y/N) leaning against him.
"What d'ya want?" He asked, staring at (Y/N) with eyes Soap had never seen on the man before. They were so soft and warm.
"Gummies for the air. They help with popping your ears."
"And for the ground? Right now?"
(Y/N) paused, hummed before they shrugged.
"Crisps it is." Simon grunted as he reached out and gave their shoulder a squeeze before turning to walk off.
"Want me to come with?" Soap asked, making his presence known again as he took a sip of his coffee.
"Negative." Simon answered before he was out of hearing range, heading towards one of the shops in the terminals.
Soap nodded and, after taking a quick moment to stand up, found himself wondering towards Price since there wasn't much else to do but wait to board. Plus, he had a feeling it would be alright for him to wonder off a bit. They were all in a safe place with security wondering about. Things would be alright, right?
Wrong.
Not even five minutes passed before Soap heard (Y/N) talking. At first, the Sargent was pretty sure Simon had returned and was about to turn around to ask how the hell Simon managed to get back so soon but once he saw the scene before him, he was quick to stop himself. The guy (Y/N) was talking to was some random guy, not his L.T but Soap was also smart enough to know this man's company wasn’t exactly a welcomed one.
"Cap." Soap grunted, catching Price's attention quickly. The male glanced over to see what was going on before taking a brief moment to excuse himself from the conversation he was having with the other man. The man was quick to understand, or maybe he wasn't but either way, it was a smooth transition for Price to leave one conversation and go join Soap's side.
"Where's Simon?" Price asked in a low voice as to avoid drawing any unwanted attention to the two of them and thus, make things worse accidentally.
"Snack run. Gaz?" Soap asked in turn, eyes locked over at (Y/N) and the guy they were talking to. Soap already knew Ghost would want someone to keep an eye on them while he was away.
"Bathroom. Should be back soon." Price's answer wasn't one Soap was wanting to hear. "Let's just watch 'n see." Price added, saying nothing more on the subject matter.
While Price or Soap were unfamiliar with waiting, it was clear neither one of them wanted to wait for long. They didn't have to either fortunately or unfortunately.
As soon as they stood up with a less then happy expression, both Soap and Price started to move forward but it was Price who was smarted enough to pull Soap back when he saw who was charging over.
Both men could only watch in shock and in awe as Ghost walked up with the intent to kill as his free arm reached for (Y/N), who was all too happy to press into his side. Meanwhile, the Brit could only stare the unknown man down, who slowly backed off with a few mumbled apologizes.
"Well colored me impressed." Price chuckled as he walked over to the couple as Soap took a breath. "And here I thought you'd start swinging."
"I'd rather he not." (Y/N) sighed as they adjusted the plush in their arms. "I don't want us to get kicked out or arrested." They added as Gaz walked over, a look of confusion on his face.
"Fair enough." Price nodded with a hum, glancing towards where the informational board was. "Think we're about to start boarding soon?" He asked, catching (Y/N)'s attention, who was quick to start babbling on about the kind of plane they'd be boarding with the other three listening quite closely.
But it was only Price who noted how at peace Ghost looked. How at deeply in love Simon was.

all sides of you
Tumblr media
a/n: this came to me late at night and i had to write it; shout out to @humanalien01 for helping me and supporting my simping. idk how i feel abt the ending tbh :/
summary: a night at josies bar leads to you admitting your thoughts about the devil of hell's kitchen, and a few months later your words come back to haunt you.
word count:2427
warnings: swearing, canon typical violence, reader is victim in an attempted mugging & fights back, cursing, reader is called a bitch
Standing around the pool table at Josie's bar with the Nelson and Murdock team, playful banter spewn between the four of you. Each of you taking turns shooting while also trying to make the others mess up. The laughter coming from the four of you carrying throughout the bar, the three deserved this after a hard case, and you being Matt's partner were happily invited. Foggy happily uses you as a means to try to embarrass Matt with silly stories from their college years. You and Karen, doubling over in laughter as Foggy finishes his current story, Matt's cheeks tinted pink. Upon noticing you move closer to him, pressing a quick kiss against his cheek, then resting your head against his shoulder, his arm wrapping around your middle.
It's not until Foggy scoffs begrudgingly that your attention and Matts is pulled away to look at what Foggy's upset about. On one of the Tvs hanging around the bar you notice a news story about The Devil Of Hell's Kitchen. Foggy going on a rant about how he thought the man was bad news while you stared at the grainy footage someone caught of the man decked out in all black, as he beat up a group of gang members. You slowly zoned out as you watched how the man in the mask’s body contorted as he flipped and took the bad men out.
“Y/n!” Foggy's voice pulled you out of your daydream, your head snapping to look in his direction, giving him a hum in acknowledgement. “What do you think? What's your opinion on the masked man?” he asks, you know he's hoping you'll take his side.
Your cheeks tint a slight pink at the question, aware of the two pairs of eyes locked on you and Matt's head tilting, obviously also looking forward to your answer.  “Um, i don't really have one” you lie, moving to lean over the pool table and shoot one of the balls. Karen's giggle goes in tandem with the clack of the cue ball hitting one of the stripped balls.
“You're lying!” Foggy calls out pointing an accusatory finger at you, “did you know lying is a sin? I can't believe you would do such a thing while dating our good Catholic Matt Murdock” he gasps a hand over his heart like you wounded him deeply with your tiny fib. The smile on Matt’s face tells you he did not care and he finds Foggy's dramatics hilarious.
“Oh no, however will you forgive me, my love?” you gasp dramatically leaning against Matt. “But seriously my opinion on the man in the mask isn't that important.” you say trying to move on.
Karen laughs before speaking “oh, trust me, too foggy it is very important, and honestly now I’m interested cause it's been just me vs foggy about this since Matt tries to stay out of these conversations” after she's done speaking the attention turns back to you. You sigh as Matt moves to take his turn, now seeing you have no way out of this conversation.
“I don't know, I don't think he has bad intentions or anything” you shrug before continuing “He’s also kinda hot” you say the second part quieter. The other three members of your party all have varying reactions, Karen laughing, Matt giving an awkward chuckle, and Foggy with his over the top dramatics acting as if you’ve insulted his mother. You watch Matt out of the corner of your eye worrying you may have upset him, you’d only been dating a month and a half, the relationship still new, you're still learning things about the other. What if you hurt him?
Foggy's voice pulls you out of your anxiety fueled downward spiral. “I can't believe you would do this to me” he speaks with a voice obviously trying to make you feel bad for not agreeing with him. He puts his head in his hand as he begins to fake cry. You and Karen look at each other before you both double over laughing, Matt joining in as Foggy's fake cries ramp up at your laughing.
You spend another few hours at Josies before you all decide to part ways, you going home with Matt after deciding to spend the night. Once you're in his apartment your anxiety returns from the prior conversation. You both make your way to his bedroom and change into clothes you can sleep in. It's only when you're both in bed, your head on his chest as he rubs your back, that you decide to broach the subject. “Hey Matty, can I ask you a question?” he hums in response. “Earlier at Josies, did I upset you?” you question, heart rate picking up slightly.
Matt feels your heart rate pick up so he quickly leans forward to kiss your forehead before he smiles at you with a soft chuckle, “no, not at all, I trust you, it’s no different than the people who have a crush on the avengers.” you sigh at his words. Anxiety subsiding, you know Matt well enough he wouldn’t lie to you about something like this. You nestle closer to him before grabbing his other hand and kissing his knuckles, ignoring the cracks and healed over abrasions. “Besides, I know I’m your favorite” he says and you don't need to look at him to know he's wearing that cocky grin of his.
You roll your eyes at him “i suppose” You tease him, no matter who came to you and professed their love, you knew you’d always choose Matt. You feel his chest vibrate under your cheek as he laughs. Eventually the two of you fall asleep in eachothers arms.
~~~
A month passes and you forget the aforementioned conversation ever happened. So many things happening that small moments get buried and forgotten about so easily. It's not till you're walking home one night that the conversation gets catapulted back to the forefront of your mind.
On your way home from a girl date with Karen you get yanked into an alley and thrown against one of the brick walls of a building. The bricks sharp and your head immediately begins to throb as your head smacks against it. A hand goes over your mouth and fight or flight takes over as you feel your heart rate pick up and the rush of adrenaline pumping through your veins. You struggle before biting down with all your might on the hand, the taste of copper coats your tongue. The man who grabbed you yanks his hand back and you spit the blood out onto his face before screaming, hoping you’d be lucky enough for someone to be close enough to hear you. You knew basic self defense but you’d rather be safe and hope someone would at least call emergency services.
“You bitch” the man yells before slapping you across the face. You bring your knee up in an attempt to connect it with his groin. His hand shoots down, your knee still connects but not with as much force as you hoped. As you attempt to shove him off you hear a thud to the side of you and you can only hope that it’s some good samaritan here to save you. It's only a few seconds later your attacker is yanked off of you and thrown to the ground.
You watch with bated breath as the man in the mask repeatedly punches the guy in the face and head. Once he finishes he makes his way over to you, you can hear him speaking to you, asking if you're alright, but you're distracted by the shape of his jaw and the way his lips move. A sense of familiarity washes over you and you're unsure as to why.
“I’m fine, thank you, I just need to get home.” You quickly rush out before speed walking away. Wanting to be in the safety of yours and Matt's home as quickly as possible, and wanting to scrub your mouth to rid it of the copper taste. A part of you hoping Matt is home so you can just crash into his arms and sleep.
You arrive home to an empty apartment, the billboard on the building across the alley lighting up the living room. You drop your jacket and bag on the counter before moving to the bathroom and brushing your teeth for far longer than the usual two minutes. Afterwards moving to your shared bedroom and changing into the clothes you'd be sleeping in.
As you're changing you spot a picture of you and Matt on top of your dresser. You pause, taking a moment to admire your partner, that's when it hits you. The sense of familiarity, why the bottom half of the devil of hell's kitchen face looked so familiar. You'd kissed those lips hundreds of times, it's no wonder your body recognized them. Everything begins falling into place in your head, like placing the last puzzle pieces in a puzzle and seeing the finale picture.
Matt's injuries always lined up with when you'd see the man in the mask on the new fighting bad guys. How a part of you always believed there was more to the story than him just falling or whatever excuse he’d give you. He was always so careful, far too careful to just take a tumble as often as he’d tell everyone. You never called him out cause even if a part of you believed he was lying you trusted him enough that you never questioned. Your thoughts are interrupted by the sound of the door opening and Matt's voice calling out for you.
“In the bedroom!” you call back, wondering if he’ll tell you or if you'd have to call him out and question him. You hear him approach and turn to look at him, he looks relatively unharmed, ‘that's good’ you think. “Hey baby.” you can't help the small smile that graces your features, he moves closer to where your voice came from, reaching a hand out towards you. Once he reaches you he wraps his arms around you pressing a kiss against the top of your head. You hear and feel him take a deep breath, you wouldn't be surprised if he was also a little shaken up, he’d just saved his partner from being mugged, you wouldn’t blame him if he was. The two of you sit in silence for a few minutes before you decide you can't take it anymore.
“Baby?” you begin, he hums in response. You take a deep breath before you continue, turning in his arms and wrapping your arms around his neck. “When were you gonna tell me?”  you question, you figure it's best to just rip the bandaid off.
“Tell you what sweetheart?” he questions tilting his head, eyebrows furrowing. He looked like a puppy, confused by the trick its owner is trying to teach it. You understand why he’d try and play this off but you also wish he’d just be honest. Your face morphs into a deadpan expression.
“Matty, seriously, you know what I’m talking about.” You cross your arms over your chest. “When were you going to tell me youre daredevil?” you question. He huffs out a small laugh.
“What? Honey what are you talking about? I’m not the daredevil.” he lies through his teeth.
“I know you can’t see my face but just know it's a look of disappointment cause you should really be better at lying if you're gonna be a vigilante.” you speak before moving just out of matts reach. Deciding he could touch you again when he confessed. A defeated sigh leaves him, you assume he's come to the conclusion that there’s no way of getting out of this without being honest.
“I don't know, honestly.” he begins “I always wanted to tell you, I hated lying to you, especially after seeing how worried you’d get.” he takes his glasses off sitting them on your dresser. “I was waiting for the right moment I guess. I was worried how you’d react, I didn’t want to lose you.” he finishes looking in your direction. He looks like a puppy that just got scolded and was trying to look cute to get out of punishment.
“First of all, low blow, you know your puppy eyes work way too well on me” you speak trying not to giggle. “Second, Matt I’m literally so in love with you, it’d take a lot more than you running around at night in a mask beating up criminals to lose me.” Now the laugh escapes you, a smile making its way to his face as well at your laugh. He moves closer to you again, hands landing on your waist, before he leans in to kiss you.
“You handled this a lot better than Foggy did,” he laughs. “Also, if you were wondering, yes, i am actually blind”
“I wasn’t, but good to know.” you laugh “and to be fair, foggy did hate your alter ego.” you lean up to kiss his cheek, “lets go to bed baby” you whisper before crawling into your shared bed as he moves to change into pajamas. Once he joins you in the bed you snuggle into his arms, resting your head over his heart. Thinking over everything as you trace shapes against his chest, it’s then you sit up quickly realizing something. “You little shit!” you yell with a laugh as you playfully hit him in the chest.
“What? What’d I do?” he asks shock and confusion taking his features
“A few months ago, at Josies with Foggy and Karen” you begin, you can tell by the look his face morphs to that he's beginning to understand. His cocky smile finding his face again. “I confessed that I thought the daredevil was hot and you just let me?” you ask incredulously “no wonder you were so unphased by it” you playfully shove his shoulder
“Would it help if I said I found it very flattering that you did?” he laughed “but seriously, that was when I started seriously thinking about telling you. It made me feel a little bit better about it.” he speaks, moving his hand to rub against your knee.
“Maybe, it does a little,” you confess. “You're still a little shit though.” you laugh moving to kiss him. “My little shit though” you whisper. The rest of the night is spent full of soft touches and laughter as the two of you bask in your love of the other.
It has been brought to my attention that Not Yet may have been a tad bit too sad for some. Which is fair. If I could physically cry I probably would have writing that last bit. But I want to know what the rest of y’all think and if it needs an apology.
A/N: The 400 follower special is finally here! A little late yes but it’s here okay no one get on my ass! Or do I don’t know and I don’t 100% care. Anyways I’m like 99.999% sure someone has already rambled about Simon being a cryptic or whatever of some kind and honestly it lives rent free in my head and this is my take on him being a cryptic of some kind. This version of Simon may or may not pop up in a later series that I’m writing for funsies on the side so who knows. Anyways enjoy~
Tumblr media
GIF NOT MINE
Alright so lemme lay down the idea I have floating around in my empty head of what sort of monster Simon is for this kay?
He’s like this shadow creature phantom thing
Not really a ghost or a demon but also not.....not? IDK
His abilities include using the shadows as a sort of fast travel/spawn point and turning his body into this solid mass of pure black shadows
He can also shapeshift but it’s limited to changing from a more human look to his monster form that def looks like a demon creature
Lowkey like uh Elias from The Ancient Magnus Bride when he gets all monster’fied you know
Please look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about but that’s the thought but more hellish okay?
His human form is very passing but he sadly cannot hide some features of his
He has fangs in his human form DO NOT TAKE THIS FROM ME OKAY
His ears are also a little pointy like it’s a sight that would have you doing a double take but then going about your life cause meh
Also his eyes in certain light are more red then brown and he Cannot hide this
Okay so shifting takes energy obviously so he eats like a teenage boy going through a growth spurt
Some meals are more healthier for him then others (raw meat is the best for him but that would cause looks so a medium rare steak is his go to)
The shadow travel takes more energy then shifting so he uses that sparingly
As for being a shadow blob? It’s pretty easy for him to do so he’s a shadow blob whenever he’s in his room destressing
Alright with all that aside let’s get into the actual monster loving content cause that’s why we’re all here
You’re part of the 141 in some way shape or form your call and so you’re close to the squad obviously
You’re also new cause you don’t know that Simon is this creature of the shadows (he’s v emo about it too okay fite me on this)
He’s hella good about hiding the fact he’s a monster and any little comment about his more nonhuman features he’s quick to shut it down
“Are your ears pointy sir?” “As are a lot of people’s.”
“Your eyes look red in this light. Are you okay?” “I didn’t sleep last night.”
“Are your teeth pointy?” “You’re seeing things.”
Super nonchalant about it
He wouldn’t reveal himself to be a monster unless he 100% had to
I’m talking life or death where the surprise bonus was he liked you
ESPESIALLY IF Y’ALL STARTED DATING HMMMM
So how you found out was y’all were on a mission and got seperated from the rest of the squad and into a fire fight where you were shot a couple of times
Nothing fatal but after getting shot in the leg and an arm, you were pretty much out of the fight and uh-oh! The enemy is closing in fast
Doesn’t help Simon ran out of ammo, took your guns and ran those dry too by the time y’all got backed into a corner
Normally Simon is able to just shadow hop outta there or some monster bullshit or hell, he’d just knife them all down and call it a day
But he has you with him and you’re the most important person in his entire life and he can’t afford to loose you
So he has a choice and he knows deep down that the only way to save you is to reveal the one part of him he lowkey despises
Simon will straight up turn to you, get down to your level and tell you he has a way to get you both out, but he’ll pull out his surprise plus 2 uno card and BEG you to not freak out. He will BEG you to promise him you won’t freak out
You’re a little sus cause you’ve never seen Simon beg for you for anything (he’s usually the one making you beg) but you agree, even doing a little x over your heart
That’s all he really needs to hear before he turns to the enemy that’s turning the corner with eyes that are 100% glowing red now and not just with murder
You can only watch as Simon’s body gets engulfed with shadows as he turns into this creature that’s like two or three times your size as he charges at the enemy and starts ripping them apart limb from limb in a furry of teeth, claws and shadow tendrils
It’s a little terrifying ngl but you have this odd sense of comfort
Because that’s your Simon protecting you and giving the two of you a way out
You two did survive and there was def a conversation between the two of you and you were honestly surprised to see Simon so small
He’s still a big boy but the way he was holding himself and avoiding your gaze as you laid in bed in the infirmary made him seem small
To his surprise, you were totally fine with him being a monster (although a little pissed he didn’t tell you sooner) and from there, you established general ground rules
Of course more rules were to follow but those were added as your days went on
You were almost tempted to tell him he couldn’t be in your shadow because of the fact he scared a recruit off once by slowly emerging from your shadow with murder in his eyes
But you were quick to decide against it on the count your shadow soon became his favorite spawn point (though you told him he could pop up when it was just the two of you to avoid causing recruits having an early heart attack)
Please tell him sooner rather then later if you’re comfortable with him leaving marks on your body and where he can and cannot bite because he will Bite
Cuddles with this man is the best cause his destresser is just becoming a mass of shadows and if you were to join him while he was destressing he will purr little bit
You’ll be surrounded by blackness and shadows but you’re also cradled like you’re made of glass
Might as well toss your bed out now cause it’s softer then that
It’s also hella fucking warm cause Simon is a living being and he’s basically holding you to him in this form so you’re all kinds of warm and toasty and comfy
If you’re not totally okay with being in total darkness, he’ll let you poke your head out for light but your body is still engulfed with darkness
Despite what you might think, scenting isn’t honestly his thing
Like it’s important but it’s not at the top of the list cause he’s probably the only monster at the base so he doesn’t feel the need to
If there are other monsters then yea he’ll scent you but it’s so lowkey you don’t really notice it happening
I mentioned tendrils earlier and yes he will use those against you in all the right ways YOU’RE WELCOME
I’m lowkey running out of brain juice and this is long as shit uh poke me for more of this kay thanks BYE
GIF NOT MINE
When you gave birth to your daughter, Simon instantly turned into the father you knew he could be. Would be. All those sleepless nights where she couldn’t go down, he spent with her tending to her every possible need and then some. The number of times you caught the two of them bonding via skin to skin contact while Simon was doing something so mundane was astronomical. She was definitely a daddy’s girl and she had him wrapped around her little finger from day one.
Oh how you wished those days lasted a little longer.
She was all grown up and in high school now. A beautiful young lady with Simon’s eyes that shone as brightly as his did with your hair color and his hair type.
Meanwhile, Simon was the pure definition of a DILF. Although he retired from active duty and settled down into desk duty while still training new recruits looking to get into the infamous 141. Yet he still looked as if he was the same rugged LT you feel in love with. Just with a few more added scars and a few grey to his hair.
Yes, life was pretty good. Until your daughter mentioned to you one day that she wanted to bring her boyfriend along to meet the parents. You always had a feeling she was seeing someone but to have actual confirmation brought two things to your mind right away. Both broke your heart and amused you at the same time.
You told your daughter you’d talk about it with your husband and the three of you would go from there, to which she agreed with excepted nerves. Your husband was always blunt and voiced his opinion in regards to your daughter dating quite often. More so when she started high school. You could already hear Simon making a frantic call to “Grandpa Price” as you prepared for sitting down to talk to your husband about her wanting to bring her boyfriend along.
“Si?” You called to him that evening from your spot on the bed, phone in your lap as you watched your husband poke his head out from the bathroom, tooth brush in hand. “We need to have a talk.” You went on, bringing your hands together in a nervous fidget as you watched Simon slowly nod.
“Somethin’ wrong love?” He asked, disappearing in the bathroom for a second to set his toothbrush down before reappearing, walking over to take a seat on your side of the bed.
“It’s about (D/N).” You answered, watching as Simon reached out to hold your hands so you could fidget with them instead of your own hands. Hands that were still rough and calloused after so many years of field work.
“Okay.” Simon slowly said, a little unsure about what was going on but still listening. “Is she okay? Did she get into trouble?”
“No she’s okay.” You shook your head with a chuckle. You knew for a fact your daughter had her father’s ice gold glare that she weaponized from a young age. You could vividly remember the first time she used it as her six month old self against her doctor.
“So what’s wrong?” Simon asked, bringing you back to reality.
You took a moment to take a deep breath to settle your nerves before speaking.
“(D/N) wants to bring her boyfriend around to meet us.” You said, not sugarcoating anything. After all, how were you supposed to sugarcoat something like this?
As you expected, Simon seemed to just freeze as his eyes grew a smidgen wider after hearing what you had to say. You just sat in silence watching your husband take a good minuet or two to process what he had just heard.
“Boyfriend?” He finally asked in a low, shaky voice. “She-she has a boyfriend?”
“Yes. And he wants to meet us.” You answered, watching as Simon slowly nodded while trying to regain his composure.
“Okay.” Simon slowly said, still nodding as he glanced away for a moment, using one hand to reach up and rub his face. “When?”
And with that, the three of you worked out a good time for said boyfriend to swing around. A Friday night with no school the following day, dinner at the Riley home where (D/N) would introduce her boyfriend before the two of them left to go catch a movie. It was a solid plan minus the many times Simon tried to get permission for either Price or Soap to join in, which you turned down instantly.
You even reminded Simon of the rule you two established when you first moved in together; no guns at the dinner table.
When the big day finally came, you had no idea who was more nervous. You, (D/N) or Simon.
You couldn’t help but stress out over what to make to the point you almost called Kate in tears before finally deciding on a nice, easy stew to make. Meanwhile Simon worked during the day but you heard from Johnny that the poor man seemed a bit on edge all day. You could easily see what he meant when Simon got home and how he went straight to get a shower after greeting you with a quick kiss.
Your only warning that your daughter and her boyfriend were close was a quick text sent to you letting you know they were five minuets away.
"Simon." You called, stepping out of the kitchen to watch him poke his head out of the hall way. It always surprised you how quick Simon came running when he heard you call his name. Sometimes you wondered if he just knew you were about to call him and started finding you.
"Five minutes." You told him, holding your phone up to give him further context. You watched as Simon's Adam's Apple bobbed as he swallowed a possible lump in his throat before slowly nodding. You watched as he turned and disappeared down the hall, possibly heading to the bedroom to finish getting ready.
Dinner itself was uneventful and the young man you two met was extra polite. Whether it was out of fear or respect you weren't too sure but you found yourself liking the young man your daughter was dating. Plus, you saw the way the two of them looked at each other and it reminded you heavily of you and Simon.
Speaking of Simon, you were surprised with how he was acting.
He questioned the young man like he was a new recruit, holding a glare the entire time as he nodded along to what the young man said. Based on the fact Simon hadn’t tried to threaten the young man with a slow and painful death should your daughter come home one day with a broken heart, you had a feeling Simon approved somewhat.
You sent your daughter and her boyfriend out on their way shortly after dinner with the promise she'd be home before midnight and set off cleaning up dinner with Simon deathly silent as he helped. You two were just about done with dishes when you finally spoke up since he hadn't uttered a word since dinner.
"Hun?" You asked, lowering the plate in your hands to stare up at him with a worried expression.
"Hm?" Simon answered with a bit of a hum, clearly still lost in thought. You frowned as you set the plate aside to rest a hand on his arm.
"You okay?" You asked, frowning as you stared up at him with worried eyes. You watched as Simon stopped drying the cup in his hands slowly before setting it down slowly with a heavy sigh. "Is this about…" You trialed off, letting the question go unfinished on purpose. Either way, he slowly nodded.
"It's just…" He started, taking another breath. "Wasn't it just yesterday we were bringing her home?" Simon asked as he turned to look at you with an expression that broke your heart. "And now she's out dating and she's getting her permit next month and next year she'll be applying to colleges and-"
"Hey hey hey." You spoke softly, stopping Simon's rambling. "I know." You hummed, bringing him into your arms as he buried his face into your neck. "I know." You said again, letting your husband cling to you as you turned to look at the wall of pictures by the dining room. From when she was a newborn to a recent picture of her first day of the current school year. Several major milestones and a few family vacation pictures hung on the wall and you had a feeling you'd be hanging a wedding picture in a short decade or so from now.
Not yet. You thought to yourself as you turned your head away to hold your husband tighter as you felt the fabric over your shoulder grow wet. Don't grow up yet.
