                           it frustrates the male to no end when the girl doesn’t understand why he worries so much ; why he gets so angry. he grew up around men who always took advantage, from his uncle to the people he once considered friends ——- hell, even now, a few of the guys he considered associates were less than stand up men. his fears are only heightened when it came to holly due to his knowledge of his mother, the jobs she fulfils and the situations she’s previously found herself her in. “ i could see it on your face, hol. ” he states plainly, gaze never dropping. “ if he was just hitting on you and you liked it, i wouldn’t have cared. ” most likely a lie. his protective tendencies bordered on that of an older brother, though he’d never label it as that ; his attraction for the female overruled it. her rant about him punching the man only fuels his anger, dry chuckle leaving his lips as he puts space between them. “ give it a rest. the fact i’m punching someone could ruin my career but i’d do it five times over if it meant you not having to deal with that. so, yeah, that makes me a hell of a lot smarter. and it makes you ungrateful as fuck. ” he can never rationalise his own anger. he’s sure that pushing the man out of the way would have done the job, or taking him to one side to threaten him would have sealed the deal even faster, but at the time he saw no other option other than solving his issue with the intended result of blood. he sighs when she takes his fist, no reaction at all when the girl touches the now broken skin. “ i’ve had worse. ” he really had. he probably wouldn’t even put an ice pack on this kind of wound. her skin against his acts as an anchor and he can feel himself relaxing, pulling his hand from her grip to push her hair behind her ear. “ are you okay ? i could have handled that better. i just hate seeing you looking like that. ”

                 she had grown accustomed to robbie’s anger, to the way even his good intentions led to balled up fists and blood. holly couldn’t even pretend to understand it ––––– the fierce way he cared for her and protected her so foreign she was always left wondering why.  it was a byproduct of her childhood, of the absent father and the manipulative mother who’d raised her.  she could count on one hand all the people in her life who genuinely gave a fuck, but he was by far the most confusing.  “ i never said i liked it, ” she murmurs, the words suddenly feeling stupid coming from her lips. that was the effect he had on her; he could make her feel like an idiot then two seconds later he'd make her feel like she was the most important person in the world. holly lets him be angry. she knows him well enough to let him get the words out, even when the name calling hurts. she wishes she hadn’t been drinking, wishes she could express both gratitude and disappointment, wishes she could say something smart about how if he ruined his career protecting her she’d feel guilty about it for the rest of her life but she doesn’t say any of that. instead she lets out a little laugh, nothing about the situation inherently humorous but her brain could only handle so much.  “ stupid and ungrateful ? have you been talking to my mom ? ” she questions, the joke leaving a sour taste on her tongue. holly didn’t mean it, of course. he knew the things her mother put her through, the way the woman treated her –––– and so he should know she’d never actually compare him to her when all he’d done for holly was the exact opposite. she sighs as he dismisses her concern over his hand, the torn skin still making her uneasy despite knowing his words were true. when he tucks her hair behind her ear something inside her loosens up, like a knot unraveling.  “ i know you do. i’m okay, ”  she nods as she looks up at him, the need to reassure him running so deep holly had no idea where it stemmed from, just that it was something she often felt she had to do.  “ it just scares me, you know. when you get hurt. ” she bites down on her bottom lip, her gaze flicking back down to his hand.  “ are you going to let me take care of that ? –––– please ? ”  she adds, looking back up at him.

        monaco was definitely not his favourite place. robbie didn’t really like most places, though. he found he was always most comfortable in the gym training or in bed. he couldn’t fault the parties, however ; and the one he was currently enjoying was looking like it was going to have a good ending. the pretty brunette who had been attached to him all night didn’t disagree, either. that was until he spotted a familiar face with an uneasy expression across the room ; an unprecedented amount of anger exploding through his body. without even saying goodbye to the girl hes walking directly for the source of his friends discomfort, fist connecting with the others nose in a matter of seconds before he turned to holly. “ is this your fucking thing now ? ” hand shakes as he grabs hers, leading her out of the busy room with a river of curse words sliding from his mouth. “ getting into dangerous situations with men you clearly don’t like ? holy fuck, holly. we’re in monaco and you’re still stupid as fuck. ”   /   @hvlly

                   she’s only slightly tipsy when her buzz is threatened by some guy who just can’t keep his hands to himself, the bare skin of her exposed shoulders itching every time he attempts to put his arm around her.  holly feels the anxiety start to creep in, but it wasn’t too bad yet, she still had control. after all, she’s faced much worse than horny guys at parties, and she’s just about to shove his arm away again when there’s a blur of movement. it was over faster than it happened. all holly could register was the guy clutching his nose, blood seeping through his fingertips, and robbie’s angry voice in her ear before she’s being pulled away from the scene. she can feel her head spinning so she stops, yanking her hand away from robbie’s. holly spins and looks at him, dark eyes finally registering his as she takes in his appearance, too stunned to have noticed earlier if the fight he’d started had been one sided or two.  “ –––––  dangerous situations ? ” she echoes, her voice heavy with disbelief. she turns back to the busy room before looking at him again. it stings when he calls her stupid, and she wishes it didn’t but it did, the possibility he saw her the same way the men who tried to take advantage of her did making her feel sick. was she just some stupid little girl in his eyes ?  “ it’s a party, robbie. he was hitting on me. that’s it, ” she says, eyes softening for a moment as her expression betrays the hurt before she moves on to anger.  “ you didn’t have to hit him. i’m the stupid one because guys act like creeps with me, but you come in and punch someone anytime something even sort of upsets you and that makes you smarter ? that’s such bullshit –––– that’s whats stupid. ”  she shakes her head, her words coming out fast and jumbled, the alcohol in her system and her own emotions not doing her any favors. holly curses under her breath before she grabs his hand, thumb brushing over his knuckle.  “ did you hurt yourself playing prince dumbass ? ” she questions, still worked up.
