This is why media literacy is important. Well that was a roller coaster

thinking about how my parents did everything in their power to hide 9/11 from me as a child to the point of taking away my TV and preventing me from going outside so when we went to a 1-year anniversary church service about it in 2002 i thought the pastor was recounting the story from scripture and was like wtf how did i not notice there were planes in bible times that's crazy and then i went and pissed all over the church bathroom floor to test if i had free will

Lowkey jealous tbh. Meanwhile as a 2000s kid I was having “remember 9/11!” being shoved down my throat and I had no clue what that meant because I was a kid and my parents never turned on the news while their kids were awake so I just assumed it was some historical event from the distant past and not something that just happened. So little kid me was trying to be just as patriotic as everyone else whilst having no clue what was happening.

I’m kinda glad that kids today can just say “bro is that it?”

it's such a sadness to me that kids eventually lose that 'no filter' thing when they grow up. my niece asked what 9/11 is and someone explained it to her and her unfiltered conclusion was "bro. is that it"
