We're back at it with another off-season overtime episode! Kate's still talking about hockey, Fred's manifesting a kaiju, so it's business as usual. We talk about some of the biggest trades and signings to go down leading up to and during free agency. Remember how we said last week we probably wouldn't drop a new episode for a while? Apparently we lied! Between the draft, trades and signings, and continued drunken Panthers shenanigans, we had enough to talk about that we put together what we're calling an overtime episode. It's just a mini episode with some off-season news and notes, including our thoughts on the correction of a great cosmic injustice.

I was listening to an episode from a few weeks ago where you said that Sarah Nurse is your favorite nurse hockey player and today I was googling Mush and found out that HE has a pwhl cousin named Kennedy Marchment who plays for Montreal and has been on LTIR for awhile and I was reminded of you guys

Yes, that's right! And Jesse Compher of the Toronto Sceptres is the sister of J.T. Compher, who is currently with the Detroit Red Wings and they are super supportive of each other. Hockey can be such a family business!

I'm listening to yesterday's episode and "we have granlund at home" is making me absolutely CACKLE at work. literally cannot wait to hear you guys talk hockey again next season and to see what percentage/fraction/decimal of a hockey fan that Fred decides to become

I go into some kind of a fugue state when we record and am basically completely unaware of what I'm saying until I go back and listen to the episode for edits. I completely forgot about "we have Granlund at home" until I heard it again, and I'm so glad it made sense to someone besides me! I'll honestly miss recording the pod every week - it made hockey season even more fun, getting to connect with other hockey fans who appreciate our weird senses of humor and highly unserious approach to sports analysis.

You know, for someone who claims to be completely over hockey, he was the one texting me today to tell me about breaking hockey news while I was trying to work. He complains, but I think he just likes being a martyr.

He honestly did super well for a non-professional, I was impressed.

Also, as a leafs fan (who also is very bad about listening to lyrics), gasoline by Halsey felt like a personal attack lolol. searched it up, and it's amazing, not even including the part if mitch signs with the canes, the lyrics will be even more cruelly ironic. If I could do edits at all, there definitely is something to be had there.

Sorry, I am just now seeing this! Yes, I think Fred nailed it with that song. It felt so Leafs/Mitch-coded. Fred is basically a teenage girl, so I need to come up with more games that play up to his strengths like that one. I may be teaching myself how to do edits this summer - I used to make Veronica Mars fan videos for livejournal twenty years ago, so surely I can learn new technology!

That Brad Marchand tidbit is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it! He's definitely one of the few NHL guys who could pull it off.
