So here’s the thing. I’ve seen a lot of posts about 6x04 and how Lucy is so alone. And I don’t entirely disagree with that. I think the episode was filmed very intentionally to show how alone she feels right now (which, as @timandlucy and @theflyindutchwoman have both pointed out, is not the same as actually being alone… but that’s a topic for a different post). But anyway, my point is that this isn’t something that’s come up out of nowhere. If you think about it, Lucy hasn’t had a solid support system in a really long time.
I also don’t think she’s really aware of this. I don’t think she realizes how much she’s stopped putting herself out there, and how her work relationships don’t really extend outside of work, and how she’s gravitated toward low stakes relationships like Chris and Emmett. Then again, her own feelings have always been a giant blind spot for her until something shines a spotlight on them. Which is what’s happening now.
For as much as we talk about Tim having walls and being closed off, Lucy is actually very much the same. It’s not necessarily as obvious because she’s not grumpy and standoffish like Tim is (and I say this lovingly lol). But think about it: how many people have we ever actually seen Lucy open up to and form a true bond with? There are very few people she allows inside her walls.
And the thing is, I 100% get it. Our girl has been through a lot. She spent her whole childhood disappointing her parents. Then she went to college and her best friend slept with her boyfriend. We know from previous dialogue that she’s had other crappy relationships too. We know she was more serious about Nolan (🤮) than any previous boyfriends, and we saw how that breakup hurt. Then Rachel moved away. Then she had a falling out with her parents. Then Jackson died. She and Nolan drifted apart after that. Plus, you know, Caleb happened.
She’s been hurt so many times, so I totally understand why she protects herself and her heart. But the result of this is that, at this point, she really only has Tamara (to the extent that a 20 year old roommate can be a support system) and Tim. She’s been unintentionally isolating herself for years. But only now is she really starting to feel it. And I can only assume it’s going get worse next episode when the main pillar of her support system disappears.

I am not sure about you but I am scared for Chenford and their future 6x6 from both the next two episode descriptions and the interview that Melissa did when she said there was a scene that was very vulnerable and emotional. I am so worried they will break up. So much Ship Trauma. What do you think?
you and me both, bestie 😭😭😭 trying to piece together what s6 has in store for us has become my new roman empire lmao. i'm sooo curious! i have loved every episode in s6 so far and from the promoting and interviews they've done it sounds like we're in for an emotional ride for the latter half of the season.
i think what currently has me on the floor sobbing aside from tim and lucy at the hospital is the fact that by the end of tuesday's episode he's there, he's got our girl, she's safe with him but from the logline of the next episode, he's gone awol. i really do think that whatever it is that pulls him away and "leaves lucy in the dark" has to be a very strong reason like whoever is coming back is someone lucy doesn't know and is not the best time for her to meet.
i keep thinking of the look on his face when he walked into the hospital room, he was so distraught like you could feel his urgency to be by her side. plus, there's no way he would willingly disappear on lucy when she needs him the most. my guess is he disappears because he genuinely believes he's protecting her, whether he thinks telling her about it will be an added burden to what she's already dealing with or her safety could be compromised if he told her? tim loves to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders and i think this will be another example of that.
how they'll support each other while they're both going through individual hardships will be very interesting. i will say i'm super excited for both of their individual storylines, they both sound beautifully heartbreaking and i can't wait to see how it adds to their character development.
i personally struggle to see them breaking up at any point, the stakes are far too high to justify even a short 'break'. they've constantly reassured each other and others that no matter what life throws at them, they'll get through it. i could see something like 6x01 where one of them walks away and maybe they avoid each other for a few days because they're both equally stubborn and hurt?
i definitely want to validate that worry though like ship trauma is so real! hopefully this may help ease that a little ♡ — in this interview they discuss diving into tim's past this season and how lucy will help bring out the best in him to help him navigate it, so they'll definitely be there for one another ♡
all to say, i do think they still have more than one uphill battle to get through like they had just started to scratch the surface with the lucy being a uc conflict so they have that to continue to work through plus whatever is yet to come. i think it'll be angsty, probably a bit heartbreaking, but also really beautiful.

You really took my rating of this episode from one of my least favorite to one of my favorites with this. Because that’s really what it was. Kind of like how we have the foresight of knowing Tim is gone, but she doesn’t know that.
One thing that stood out to me during this episode is how the camerawork was used to highlight Lucy's feeling of isolation. Particularly during the shooting in the alley and at the hospital. In these two scenes, she is seen mostly on her own, separated from everyone. And because of this, it is so easy to relate to her sense of anguish and pain. But at the same time, the camera zooms in on the team. When Lucy is in the alley, we can see how worried Angela and Nyla are. But Lucy can't. When she goes down, we can see the look of horror and fear on their faces. But Lucy can't. And then there's the perfect symbol of her radio being shot down. Her mean of communication with her team is broken, she has to rely on signs. And that's a perfect metaphor. So when Nyla compliments Lucy's ingenuity, we're the only ones who can hear it. Lucy can't. And then, there's the hospital scene where we progressively see Nolan, Bailey, Aaron and Celina showing up for Lucy. But she can't see that because she is in another room, because she has to be isolated pending IA investigation. When Grey asks Wesley how she's holding up, she can't hear that. She can only see the side glances. She is not even technically alone, there's a guard there with her in the room but he can't talk to her. We don't even know if they know each other. The way the camerawork showed the duality of this story is so important. Lucy is technically not alone and yet, you can still feel that sense of isolation. Because it looked like only Tim was there to comfort her. Making him her only lifeline at the moment. And that is going to make the next part even more heartbreaking when he disappears without telling her.

the way the following were singular thoughts in my brain and i just had an OH moment because of how they'll likely connect and will i ever be okay again lmao 😭😂
"tim disappears and leaves lucy in the dark"
continuing to dive into lucy's storyline in the aftermath of the shooting
tamara is back
the reason this has me so ADFLKALKJDFS is because 1. hoping we get a scene with tamara being there for lucy, 2. hoping we get a scene with tim and tamara discussing how to support lucy and, 3. tim basically lives at their apartment which means tamara will also be witness to him disappearing and i ?????????

Hi anon! To be honest with you, I love angst, so I'm actually super excited to see what's next for them in the last 5 episodes of the season.
I do hope there's more emotional and vulnerable moments to come, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the scene Melissa was referring to was that hospital one. But I think if they do anything relationship-changing, it won't happen until the finale!

Seriously though- there are three people that would have supported her no matter what, and two of them are dead. I feel like Captain Anderson would have noticed her spiral, and while she would have stuck to procedure, she would have been there for her.
Jackson- well that’s a given. But Lucy is already so vulnerable, with everything that’s happened, and I’ve been there. In her mind, everyone is out to get her, even if they aren’t actually. And I think there is some issue for Angela and Nyla- not that they hate her now or want to “put her in her place” but they are the ones that vouched for her.
But I also think there was a part of her that wouldn’t have made that decision to run into that alley before the exam. I really do think there was part of her that was throwing caution to the wind because she just doesn’t care anymore. And maybe I’m wrong, but I just don’t see her going quite that crazy before this.
Anyway, I now want Lucy and Bailey to be friends, because I think they both could use that, and Bailey seems to know her worth.
Hi I’m back.
But mad now.
WHY IS EVERYONE (expect Tim) TREATING MY BABY LUCY SO BAD!?
No one was in that room supporting her after the shooting.
Angela and Nyla treated her like shit, looking at her like she’s less then. Acting like her failing to make detective was actually her own fault!?
The way Nolan fucked up and ends up on fucking tv!? While Lucy “makes a mistake” at a scene and gets taunted!?
No one our girl is spiraling lately. The only person she has right now is Tim. He has been unwavering in his support.
I’m so mad 😤 and then I’m also nervous because next week it seems like they’re making Tim abandon Lucy!? And like wtf is that!? He better explain himself and not join the dark side. He’s all we have for her right now (unless we include Tamara but she’s MIA)
Who do we talk to about giving my baby a better support team and friends!? Jackson would never.
LUCY RISKED HER FUCKING LIFE TONIGHT TO STOP THAT GUNMAN AND A SINGLE ONE OF THEM SEEMED TO CARE! (Again excluding our husband Tim Bradford)
See, I don't know if it's because I saw that hospital scene first - I forgot about the time change so that's the only scene I caught live - but I didn't think they were treating Lucy that badly (or maybe I expected worse). She was the suspect of a shooting, she had to be isolated. That's standard procedure. We saw some of it in 1.08 when Nolan shot someone, killing him in the process. Talia had to secure the scene while he was waiting in the hallway alone. Same when Grey showed up. It's in Lucy's best interest that they follow the procedure to the letter so she can be cleared.
But that doesn't mean people weren't there to support her. Nolan and Aaron showed up for her. They were just waiting outside. Grey was asking how she was doing. The reason why Tim was able to go directly to her is because he wasn't involved in the orginal case or the pending IA investigation. And as soon as they got an update, Grey and Wesley immediately went to her to ease her mind. Now, Wesley's reaction seemed a bit harsh, but in my opinion, he was just trying to warn her of what could possibly happen in the worst case scenario so she could prepare herself. He didn't insist on doing the interview while it was still fresh or anything. Maybe he could have been more empathetic instead of matter-of-fact, but Grey and Tim's reactions balanced him. Especially Tim! I love that final scene of the two of them so much.
I'm going to circle back on the Angela and Nyla thing in another post (I have a couple of asks on that topic as well). But I will say that between the Pentagram killer + the shooting, I'm sure they were both very busy. And again, they couldn't be seen talking to Lucy either. But the look of horror and terror on their faces when Lucy fell down in that alley was rather telling.
Now, there is a part that pissed me off as much as you and that's Nolan getting on TV after messing up… The double treatment is so jarring. I miss the days where making a mistake had some consequences for everyone. The man is like Teflon, nothing sticks anymore.
Anyway, back to Lucy…. I don't think she's as alone as she thinks. She feels isolated, that's clear. I'm going to write about this later once I gather my thoughts a bit more but there was a small moment that I think illustrate this difference of perspective : at the hospital, when she was alone in that room, she saw Grey and Wesley look at her before turning away. We, as the viewer, know that Grey was asking how she was holding up. But I can see how, for her, it would look entirely different. She's in a bad place mentally and it's all piling up. And like you said, it's going to get worse before it gets better, with Tim going MIA. That said, this last scene at the hospital makes me believe that he will have a good reason for not telling Lucy. Most likely because it concerns a classified matter or something like that. I just can't picture the man who was rushing through the hospital to get to her, will suddenly disappear on her when she needs him the most. There has to be more to that story. But yes, moments like these really remind me how much I miss Jackson 😭 You can truly feel his absence. Lucy needs friends.

Just sending a little high five that our speculations weren’t actually that far off from the truth! Congratulations on your excellent sleuthing skills ☺️
Hahaha you are absolutely the best!! Thank you and congratulations too!

It was really fun to speculate and go back and forth on that theory with you… and, generally speaking, not to be completely far off for once 😅 I'm going to enjoy this moment, I fear it will be a while before that happens again!!

Different ideas linger in her mind that slowly dissipate into nothing as it lulls her back to sleep knowing she’s safe, she’s alive, and she’s not alone; she has Tim.
