I cant begin to say who this great this short read was. It depicts how Paul most likely would react if the person he loved was being hurt. Kudos to the author for the descriptive portrayal  of his character.
Ahhh requests are open! Will you do Paul from dune using the voice on the reader? Tyyy🥰
No prob anon! Thanks for the request 💕
A Cry For Help
Desc: Paul needs to make a quick decision when your life is in danger from the Sardaukar. Mostly angst.
Word Count: 1.1k
Tumblr media
Paul refused to believe it.
Never in all his years, training by your side as a childhood friend, had he ever seen you fall so quickly. As if you were disposable, like another grain of sand falling from Arrakis' dune.
The Sardaukar pushed you down on the floor of their ship, again and again, and again, to his horror, and you weren't able to brace yourself for every hit. Not when you couldn't breathe, when your head was pounding, unable to think of anything other than being on the brink of survival.
Ambushes were dirty.
Paul couldn't think of anything more abhorrent, that they would attack Arrakis when House Atreides was simply resting. A cowardly play that seemed to be succeeding.
If he hadn't felt that your presence from his bed was gone, heard your screams down the hall, you would've been all alone by now, and he had been so weak- struggled to keep a strong head, like his father had taught him to- and you both had been captured easily.
To Paul now, it was obvious that they had simply taken you, his betrothed, as bait. As a ploy to get him away from Arrakeen's safety, and it sickened him how foolish he could be at times.
Paul was tied up, his wrists chafing from how agitated he was getting, when all he could he see was pain. Deep, harsh pain; the kind that he sometimes felt in his visions, where he was too involved to ever let it go.
You yelled again. "Get off of me-"
The main Sardaukar, who was goading on everyone else, calling you a piece of meat because you happened to be a woman, slapped you, and you were silenced as you whimpered.
Paul fought against himself, tearing up, not knowing if he should reveal his Bene Gesserit privilege, or if he even could.
Even though he knew it was wrong, to take this path, to do something that he promised himself he never would, Paul had no other choice. He was either going to lose you in this instance, or lose himself to becoming the Kwisatz Haderach.
It was an easy choice when the fury in his heart was deafening.
"Get up."
You stood up, out of no will of your own.
"Kill them." Paul spat out, unbridled rage working it's way into his tone.
Jessica had always told him to be careful, that the pitch was key to the Voice, but now he felt differently.
Yes, Paul felt something new, something stronger and raw with potential when he yelled now. Something more coherent than his visions, more authentic than all the prophetic talk.
A small part of him liked it in this moment.
You lifted a spear from one of the Sardaukar, as all three men were momentarily lost at the sight of a man who could use the Voice.
As easily as running your fingers through water, you stabbed them all, with instant fatality, as you would never second guess the Voice. It was as eerie as hearing an ultimate truth, that it had to occur.
The Sardaukar fell to the floor, blood spurting over the ship, and Paul sighed deeply, in gratitude that you hadn't succumbed to them; that you were- even if you were hurt- alright.
"Y/n. Come here, untie me please." He uttered softly, and it was all you could do to listen, to drag yourself towards him as the ache of your body came rushing back.
In the moment, when you were under Paul's control, you felt invincible. Like a warrior of House Atreides, readily taking on anything without a single hesitation.
Now, though, you could feel the blood crusting near your temples, and what was surely a broken bone in your left arm. You felt small, ordinary, and just tired.
As you untied him, you were shaking with exhaustion, and Paul turned instinctively to catch you, to hug you against himself.
You fell into his arms, barely being able to anything than to just breathe, the cool air keeping you from passing out.
"I shouldn't have- I shouldn't have done that." He shook his head, pressing his face to yours. "I'm sorry."
"Paul..." You spoke in a raspy tone, and he swallowed, searching your eyes. "You saved my life. It's okay."
"It's not." He blinked back tears. "That's why it will never be okay, Y/n. I made this happen to you."
Paul clenched his jaw, angry at himself, that it was so easy, so annoyingly simple to go along this path that he hated so very much. That instead of avoiding the Holy War, it all seemed to be coming for him anyways.
You used the last little bit of your strength to caress back his hair, wanting nothing more but to comfort Paul, who had always been your dearest, closest friend first.
"Yes." You whispered, and he stilled, unsure of what you meant. "You did this, and that is okay. That's why I'm marrying you."
"That is not something I want you to undertake. Getting killed because of some ancient story." He muttered; his lips moving against your cheek.
"Paul Atreides did this." You continued, unperturbed, still holding him close. "He saved my life, out of his own abilities, and now he tries to deny that."
"But you were only in danger because of me!" Paul pulled you towards him, upset, and you nodded.
"Maybe. But I was only saved because of you." You agreed with him somewhat, and Paul didn't know how to feel, because you were right, but all signs seemed to point to his Messianic status.
He didn't want to be the reason you died, or the reason why you had faith, either. All Paul had ever wanted was to be himself.
"What if I'm..." He could feel, as you held him, his inner conflict stagnating. "What if I'm what they say I am?"
"You're my greatest friend." You murmured back, holding his face. "Whatever title or name they give you, you're still you."
Paul nodded, because that was a clear thought that he could grasp, even though the danger would never be completely gone with him.
As you shut your eyes, falling asleep as your body needed rest desperately, Paul sighed, wishing you weren't so endearingly complacent to him. Out of no fault of your own, you had grown up knowing him as the son of Duke Leto, which at the time had always bothered him. He was always quick to tell you that you were not lesser than him.
Now, he was so thankful he had done so. You were one of the last people to recognize Paul as he was, not what he could be, and he whispered "thank you, thank you, thank you" into your hair line, kissing your forehead.

Something For Your Mind— p.a

AS A CHILD, YOUR PARENTS OFFERED A SIMPLE EXPLANATION OF YOUR DIFFERENCES—a Fremen with the gift of prescience. Not many believed in what seemed to be a tall tale—a myth. Though it may not have been prescience, it was no doubt of you wielding a gift. The new age of six marked the realization of how wrong they indeed were about you.
Your quiet steps fell unnoticed by multiple of your people in the surrounding area. The only cloth on your body being your nightgown, you without thought abandoned your stillsuit. Your mother’s cries reached your ears as you stepped out into the harsh sunlight. The dry heat greeted you without consequence, and your people watched you with heavy curiosity. A small giggle escaped you as you fell to one knee, eyes focused on the horizon. The amount of time you spent out in the desert without protection was unheard of.

Arranged marriages were a common thing in the old and noble wizarding families. They’re still quite common now, but after the defeat of Voldemort there was a surge of wizards from these families who were brave enough to be with half bloods and muggle borns and go against their families wishes. It was a good thing, really, arranged marriages were completely outdated and I would never wish the pain it brought upon me to anyone else.
Just before my sixth year my parents told me that I was arranged to marry Regulus Black. His family had had issues with his older brother so it was imperative that he was to marry someone from a noble family as soon as we finished Hogwarts.
We were in the same friend group but I could count the amount of conversations we had had on one hand. Regulus was known for being mysterious and hard to talk to, but he was nice to look at and there were definitely worse people I could have been arranged to marry. It seemed that he had been told the same information because when I boarded the train the next week he had given me a small toothless smile that was more like a grimace but certainly something I had never seen him do before.
Whether it was coincidence or we both were suddenly intrigued by the other, we had ended up sitting next to each other in the Great Hall making polite small talk about our holidays. Neither one of us mentioned what our future held, but there was an air of understanding and a knowing that there was a reason for this sudden interaction.
Eventually we realised that we had quite a bit in common and I was happy to call him my friend. Walking to classes together and pairing up in Transfiguration soon turned into eating together and spending nights in the Common Room talking about our past and present, but always somehow dodging our future.
It wasn’t hard to fall for Regulus Black. He was kind when you got to know him and he was much more intelligent than he let on, and of course, there was no denying that Regulus Black was pretty and nice to look at.
Our wedding was small and we only invited our closest family and very few friends. I should have realised what our marriage meant to him when we talked that night. Our parents had bought a house for us and it was our first night sleeping in it. We didn’t speak about it, but it seemed neither of us wanted to spend our wedding night alone and so we were in our pyjamas with our backs on the mattress lying next to each other.
“You know,” we were both looking up at the ceiling but his thoughtful tone had made me look over at him, “I’m mad about being in an arranged marriage, but I’m not mad it’s with you.” I smiled over at him when his eyes quickly met mine.

See, crap like this is so disheartening. Especially for the creators. To see their work being taken and not given credit. It makes them feel as though they shouldn’t continue to put in the work when this happens. I hope they get justice for their work.
Hi, I don't know if any one has brought this to your attention but their is a fic that is a lot like 'tranquility'. I think you should take a look. It's called 'Serenity' by liveforthenight89
Thank you for telling me, anon. I just saw that. So disrespectful.
This person @liveforthenight89 just changed the title from "Tranquility" to "Serenity" but the description and story are identical??? This makes me so angry. I spent so much time working on this and yet, someone steals my work and decides to make it their "own" by adding gifs of Paul Atreides through out the fic. I can't believe someone would do that.
Seriously if you're really impressed or inspired by a fic, reblog it, or write your own, try to show your own talents. Don't steal people's work. It's so wrong and isn't flattering.
It's things like this that make it difficult to work on fics, like... just know not to repost someone else's work. Like should I even bother continuing? I have many fics under my belt, and I just expected some level of respect towards me, the writer. Fics don't come from nowhere, and they shouldn't be taken for granted.
Seriously though, thank you!! I really appreciate that you told me. If people would report their post that would be really kind. I actually reblogged it already, so guys, please, help me take it down <3

Paul Atreides, aka Muad'Dib, Usul, and The Preacher (10175 AG- 10219 AG), is a central character to the Dune series. He was born on the planet Caladan as the son of Duke Leto Atreides I and his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica. He was also the older brother of Alia Atreides.
He married Bene Gesserit trained Irulan Corrino, but did not produce an heir by her. With his Fremen concubine Chani Kynes, he fathered the twins Ghanima and Leto Atreides II, the God-Emperor.
Last Duke of House Atreides, leader of the Fremen, and first ruler of the Atreides Empire, Paul was considered the Kwisatz Haderach: a powerful prescient being, long sought by the Bene Gesserit and the end product of their lengthy breeding program.
Life
Conception
The Bene Gesserit brought Paul's parents together with the intention of producing an Atreides daughter, who could then mate with a male heir to House Harkonnen to produce the fabled Kwisatz Hadarach, a kind of super-being. However, the plans of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood were thrown into disarray when Jessica, due to her deep love of the Duke Leto, bore a male heir, Paul, to his House rather than a girl.
Upbringing
As the son of Duke Leto Atreides I, Paul grew up with a privileged background on the water-rich planet of Caladan, the ancestral home of House Atreides. Though he lacked companions his own age, he received tutelage from his teachers, men like Thufir Hawat, Duncan Idaho, Gurney Halleck and Doctor Yueh, as well as deep education in Bene Gesserit methods and techniques from his mother. Shortly after his fifteenth birthday in the year 10191 AG, Paul's father revealed to him that his training, through his teachers, had been geared toward turning Paul into a mentat. The theory was that when Paul succeeded his father as Duke of House Atreides, one of the most respected and moral Great Houses of the Imperium, a mentat-duke would truly be a formidable force in the Landsraad. Paul's latent talents also earned him the attention of the Bene Gesserit, who tested him with the Gom Jabbar, as they hoped to salvage their breeding program through him.
The rise of Paul
Paul Atreides accompanied his parents when House Atreides relocated to the desert world of Arrakis to manage mining operations of the Spice Melange. However, when the deception of House Harkonnen and the Emperor Shaddam IV was revealed, he escaped into the desert with his mother and joined the Fremen. Upon proving to the desert people that he was worthy to live among them, he took the name Muad'Dib.
Paul's union with the Fremen, coupled with significant exposure to the Spice Melange, triggered dormant prescient abilities within his bloodline. These abilities, coupled with his leadership skills, military training, and an ancient prophecy of the people of Arrakis, enabled Paul to become the sole leader of the formidable Fremen. It was on Arrakis that he discovered that his maternal grandfather was the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. He would later drink the Water of Life and survived, expanding his consciousness and bringing his prescience near to perfection. He was the first and last male to drink the Water of Life and survive, showing himself to be the Kwisatz Haderach, although he claimed to be something else, something unexpected. Paul claimed, after converting the Water of Life, that he could not only see the future and the past but also the present, which he called "the now." His vision allowed him to see Shaddam IV's great fleet in space above Arrakis, ready to attack.
During this period Paul met and fell in love with Chani, the daughter of planetology's and native Fremen Liet Kynes. Their first son, Leto Atreides II the Elder was murdered by Glossu Rabban Harkonnen, further fueling the existing enmity between House Atreides and House Harkonnen.
After spearheading a highly effective campaign of guerilla warfare against House Harkonnen's spice mining and the Sardaukar forces that had taken control of Arrakis, Paul conquered the two powers in Arrakeen. With his marriage to Irulan Corrino, daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, he successfully negotiated the end of the long-standing Corrino Empire and his own ascendancy to position of Emperor.
The New Empire
Upon crowning himself Emperor in the year 10193 AG, Paul enacted a strategy that had been revealed to him through his prescient abilities. This decision saw the theology (and many customs) of the Fremen thrust into the whole of the Empire. A result of this action was that Paul Atreides himself became a revered god-head on many worlds in the Known Universe. There was resistance, and Paul found himself increasingly isolated from his family and friends as he decided that the Jihad to implement his vision of mankind's future must be bloodthirsty and relentless. Whole planets were sterilized as some of the Great Houses put up a struggle against Paul's relentless Fremen armies.
Final Years as Emperor
After the bloody Jihad that lasted more than twelve years, and claimed billions of lives, Emperor Paul Atreides eventually subdued all outright rebellion. The order of the Known Universe was maintained through the replacement of Corrino imperial power, which was supported by Sardaukar military strength; with Atreides imperial power, supported by Fremen military strength.
Paul's interpretation of his prescient visions also necessitated that Arrakis be transformed from a barren desert planet into a lush and fertile world, with the exception of a small desert for the sandworm to remain alive and keep producing spice. By the end of his rule this plan was well on its way to succeeding. This program had begun under Pardot Kynes as an attempt to harness a planet; however, under Paul, it became part of a plan to save humanity.
Despite his strong leadership and formidable prescient abilities, Emperor Paul Atreides began to feel building pressure from discordant groups within the Empire: notably the Bene Gesserit, Bene Tleilax, fringe groups within the Fremen, and the dethroned but still powerful House Corrino. Among the schemes of his enemies were the detonation of a stone burner near where Paul and his forces stood in Arrakeen, which resulted in his physical blindness. Upon Paul's recovery from this incident, he shocked all by his ability to 'see' despite not having eyes. His perfect prescient abilities allowed him to perceive the world around him.
Death of Chani
Despite being able to 'see' through prescience, doubts began to surface in Paul's mind regarding his interpretation of the future. Feeling increasingly frustrated and out of control, he began to seek a way out. That escape route emerged through the combined treachery of his enemies, a plot conceived in the presence of a powerful Guild Navigator. The Bene Tleilax gave him a ghola of Duncan Idaho, who contained a secret trigger. Concurrently, and part of the plan, Irulan slowly poisoned Chani. As the Princesses' toxins slowly worked their way through Chani's body, the Emperor's Consort died during childbirth. Immediately, the Face Dancer Scytale, who had been posing as Chani's hand-maid, sprung into action and caused the Idaho ghola to remember his Tleilaxu mission, to kill Muad'Dib. As this caused a great mental conflict within Duncan, he remembered his past with House Atreides. Immediately, Scytale realized the great scope of change that had occurred; a ghola had recovered memories of its' former life. Scytale bargained with Paul that the Tleilaxu could bring back a ghola of Chani, complete with her life experiences, for Paul to enjoy in relative obscurity—if the Atreides would abdicate. Instead, Paul killed Scytale.
Walk into the Desert
After the birth of his children, Ghanima and Leto, Paul became convinced he had lost his prescient abilities; he did not foresee the birth of his son, only his daughter. Therefore, as no more than a blind Fremen, Paul disappeared into the desert, offering himself up to Shai-Hulud, as was the Fremen custom for the blind.
This action made a powerful statement: it signified to the Fremen that Paul's interest was for the tribe, and that even he, Usul, Paul who was Muad'Dib, was not above Fremen law.
The Preacher
Many years after his apparent death alone in the desert, and while the Atreides Empire was under the regency of his younger sister Alia Atreides, a new figure, The Preacher, appeared from the deep desert.
By urging civil disobedience against the Atreides Empire, and warning of the consequences of a green Arrakis, The Preacher attracted an ever increasing number of followers. Many believed this thundering blind stranger to be Paul Atreides, as he was blind and led by a boy.
The Preacher eventually revealed himself to his son Leto, and the two of them travelled throughout Arrakis, breaching the water storage of every sietch so that it would spill out onto the sand. Eventually Leto and the Preacher returned to Arrakeen to confront Alia, who had clearly shown herself to be Abomination by this time. Eventually rising tensions saw Alia commit suicide in front of her mother and Leto. During the ensuing chaos, The Preacher was assassinated in Arrakeen, but not before he had revealed beyond a doubt to Gurney Halleck and Jessica that he was indeed Paul Atreides.
Thus, the great Paul Atreides, son of Leto the Just and the first Atreides to ascend to the Golden Lion Throne since its inception more than ten thousand years prior, was dead, passing into legend for eons to come, laying the way forward for his son to take the Golden Path to its logical conclusion.
While Paul envisioned the Golden Path, the ultimate transformation that would see his humanity dissolve into a sandworm frightened him. Upon revealing himself to his son, Paul confessed that his desire to maintain his humanity, and the fear of abject loneliness that the Golden Path would bring, were too much for him. He related that he walked away from what he knew he had to do, and admired but lamented for his son who had taken on the mantle that would see humanity restored, but at the cost of his own.
