everyone always jokes that if tOG was made by a straight white guy (ignoring of course that greg rucka is a straight white guy) that booker would be the lead of the movie, and as a fan of awful action movies against my own will, i respectfully disagree

andy would still be the lead but she would be a man

nile would still be a woman (but white tho)

she and man-andy would oscillate wildly between a father-daughter relationship and the most awkward, painful, forced sexual tension youve ever seen

book would be exactly the same as he is in actual tOG and andy/booker would be the most shipped couple in the fandom

in popular fics the squad would call andy ‘dad’ and booker ‘mom’

along that vein nicky would be either

     a.) a woman, thus making him and joe straight

     b.) perma-killed when keane shot him, resulting in joe going on a borderline-racist rampage or

     c.) both

either way joe and nicky would probably low-key still hate each other

it would be heavily implied that man-andy and quynh had a thing going

instead of the flashback scene where quynh and andy meet in the desert, they probably met when man-andy saved quynh from bandits or something

(complete w/ a line from quynh about how ‘i dont need a man to protect me’)

there would be more than one scene where nile makes a fool out of herself ‘’‘because shes new’’’ and would need andy to save her

shipwars between andy/bookers andy/quynhs and andy/niles

drunk history but it’s just nile listening to andy tell stories while getting increasingly hammered as the night goes on and the stories get more and more outlandish but joe and nicky will interject every so often like “yeah that’s true”

you think when gambit joined the xmen one of the telepaths went to read his mind as he wasn't fully trusted and hit the static generated by his secondary mutation and just assumed gambit must not think at all ASDFJKDUJD

I’ll ramble some more (and I’m really not an expert, far from it, I just read about animism a while ago and not much is known about prehistoric religions and beliefs system so most of what is known today are assumptions and guesswork, not proven) but I really like this idea. Andy doesn’t believe in the divine or fate and destiny like Nicky do in the movie but she doesn’t seem as pessimistic as Booker is because she does give some credit to whatever force moves them and makes them immortal, she doesn’t see it as a damnation or a grace like the other guys in the team, it is happening to her and she’s living through it, as hard as it is for her.

Which is why I like this idea for Andy. From the modern understanding of animism (probably not what she’d be doing exactly in her first life but like I said it's guesswork) things aren’t bad, they just are. Everything has a spirit: people, plants, animals, places, natural elements, inanimate objects. They are all connected to each other and they can be angered, helpful, etc... depending on how you treat them but there is no grander scheme, they just exist and you have to be mindful of them in your everyday life. I like the idea that Andy kept this belief, that things exist around you but not for you and you are borrowing not taking and you must give back, be it in favor, respect, services.

I really see her as taking care of her weapons accordingly and mourning their loss properly before getting a new one (especially her axe, but also other things. Which makes the knife gifting even more meaningful because she’s not just giving a banal thing, she’s giving a weapon that she loves and respect to Quynh, it would be a big thing for her), but also the places, honoring buildings and the people in them, taking care of plants on her way and mending a broken branch on a tree in the hope it heals and grows again, just a mindfulness of things around her and how they exist in connection to each other. And that makes Copley’s board really important for her because it’s a proof of that connection between all things, that taking care of a spirit decades ago will yield good things, you reap what you sow and all that and if you sow kindness you will get kindness back, not in a business sense “I gave you this you must pay back” but in a “I take care of you, you take care of me” way, ie: the entire message of the movie, I help you today you help someone up tomorrow.

I’m sure that Andy has died at least four times because somebody said “hey that’s dangerous don’t do it” so then she had to do it because she’s very contrary and “you can’t tell me what to do”. On a related note, I’m sure Nicky has died at least the same amount of times to the question of “is this edible?” And booker to the question of “what is this mystery liquid?”
