Memories of camp were hazy, the two or three times she’d attended. Being overwhelmed with quests and plenty of people of all over the world that seemed larger than life. In her teen years, the tendency to hide was even stronger, especially in unfamiliar places. “Thank you, Isaac… It’s amazing to see how much some people have come into their own, and others, well, we’re only a step above your average human.” Yes, she’d done quests, but she never felt equipped to lead or spearhead one. “And what if something goes wrong, Isaac? We’ve all heard the horror stories of what can happen when powers go awry.” She’d lost friendships due to letting illusions reveal things they shouldn’t have, and that luckily was only emotional collateral. No one died. “I’m not really sure what could go wrong with colors… blinding?”
-
Isaac didn’t know Avery as well as they knew their other siblings, she kept to herself more than the others so they weren’t able to tell if this was a new thing. If these feelings were something she had been sitting on alone for some time or not. “You say that like humans are average Avery. We have powers sure but that doesn’t make us any better. If you’re a bad person then it doesn’t matter if you can make a rainbow or not - you’re still a bad person. That’s what really matters.” Isaac’s face furrowed a little. They were concerned that Avery seemed to be taking one step forward only to jump back into another problem that she was crafting for herself. “You are in the perfect place to practice in safe ways. We’re all here to learn, to craft and hone skills for whatever reasons. You just need to find the right way and the right people to help you do so in a safe manner. There’s a risk with everything you do, when you’re cutting onions you could chop your finger off right? But I think if you try things with the fear at the forefront - if you go into it thinking it’s going to go wrong - the chances of it happening increase. Other than when you’re purposefully trying to hurt someone it is not a common thing.” Isaac didn’t know if that was true or not - for all he knew everyone in Iris house had blinded someone at some point. They felt like trying to reassure her was the best approach though.

“hey! happy valentine’s day!” she’s fallen into step with them, uninvited, but she doesn’t think she’s been a complete monster in their never-ending pursuit to figure out the set for their show, so that means they’re… basically friends, doesn’t it? the way all theater people are friends, until the run is over. family-adjacent, even. “do you have a show, tonight? because the heartbreak edition really spoke to me, last time i tuned in. i could use some more of that energy.” // @isaaceu
-
“Why thank you - I hope you’ve received multiple declarations of love today like you deserve.” Isaac was never entirely sure how to take Aisling - they thought they were friends but they weren’t confident enough in that to say for sure. “We don’t have a show tonight but we might start working on whatever the theme is for next week, I guess it depends on what mood Peach is in when I get back. If he’s in at all. Should I be concerned that you feel so strongly about the energy of the heartbreak episode? I think it was supposed to be therapeutic for him to get some feelings out... Do you have feelings you’re trying to get out? I’m a great listener, or so I’ve been told.”

she tilts her head and presses her lips together as she takes a moment to consider her options. “ both? let’s do both, ” she finally decides, shuffling into a position where they can work on the book together. “ a lot of them are at cool places or just having fun, so we can just choose pictures that look good with whatever’s on the page. ” she reaches over to put some of the photos in a place where she can easily access them, and gathers her supplies closer as well. “ i think that’s a perfect plan. i’m so excited ! this is going to be the best thing, ever, ” she says, reaching for a photo of them and their siblings at rainbow organic. “ we look so cute in this one. supporting mama’s business – as we should, ” she giggles as she holds the picture up to isaac. “ i never noticed that my eyes were closed, though, ” she says upon closer inspection, but she is unbothered by this revelation. “ that was such a fun day. i’m loving this already. ”
-
“Then both it is - it’s your project I’m just the sous artist.” They work together with Elena so that they’re both in a position that makes working on the scrapbook easy to do. “We’re grouping based on the aesthetics I got it. It’s a good job we’re both experts at knowing what looks good right?” Isaac laughs lightly as Elena exclaims about how it’s about to be the best thing ever - her energy was infectious and Isaac knew that even just being around her was enough to brighten their day. Not that they needed it today. The smile on their face widens as she picks up the picture. “I’m pretty sure that was the day I shut the sup early and then got into trouble... Was totally worth it though.” They move to get a closer look at the picture bursting into a small fit of laughter as they notice her closed eyes. “If it helps at all I didn’t even notice they were closed until you pointed it out. It’s a great picture though.” Isaac picks up another picture that they notice has a similar colour palate to the one she’s just stuck down. “Who’s this with you? It looks like you’re having a great time?” Isaac was sure they recognised the other person’s face but the name was escaping them as the put the picture down onto the page.

More info: After a lovely morning of bird-watching led by Nikolas the pair retire back to Isaac’s room for an afternoon nap.
Watching birds all morning was a surprisingly tiring activity Isaac had just found out as they fell onto their bed followed quickly after by Nik. Listening to him discuss the creatures they’d seen, sharing his knowledge about them, had kept Isaac so enthralled that they hadn’t noticed how tired they felt until he’d crossed the threshold of their room. In only a matter of minutes they found themselves dosing off, their head resting softly on Nik’s shoulder as sleep took them away.
What should have been a restful recharge in the middle of the day turned out to be a literal nightmare. As soon as Isaac recognised the grassy field that they were stood on they were overcome with a familiar fear and panic. They’d watched this scene unfold over and over. The horror repeated - their worthlessness amplified. It had been hard enough to live through, knowing that despite their best efforts they had not been able to save their friends. But to have to live that memory on repeat, to watch themselves fail to save their best friends as monsters killed them - it was almost worse. They know how it ends but every time they try and change it. Rushing towards the carnage as the monster attacks, roaring as they summon all the energy they have left to send a blast of light in the monster’s direction, screaming in anguish as it does nothing to stop the sharp claws tearing through their friend’s chest.
Screaming.
That’s how Isaac wakes, jolting themselves into an upright position as they bring an end to the noise. It has been a while since the nightmare had that bad and embarrassingly so it had happened in front of Nik. Nik.. Isaac had almost forgotten that he was in the room until they felt him sit up. “Shit.. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to.. Lets just go back to sleep yeah?” Isaac said, trying to hide the fact that their eyes were full of water, their arms trembling as they tried to keep them sat upright.

More Info: When Isaac agreed to let Alex challenge them for her birthday this was not what they had imagined. @eusawyer
If Alex could have seen Isaac’s face when her message came through they know that the it would have been a birthday present in itself. They weren’t exactly a shy person and thankfully they could hold a tune fairly well but that did not mean serenading Scarlett in the middle of the union at it’s busiest times sounded appealing. In fact it sounded horrific and Isaac knew that Scarlett was not going to enjoy any of it either - in fact there was a chance she’d react quite badly.
They’d picked their song, had made sure that Scarlett was going to be in the union at the right time and everything was ready to go. With their friend recording Isaac so that Alex has proof they start the song playing from their phone, pushing past those sitting at the same table as Scarlett to stand on the table so the attention of all those around them was drawn.
“ Baby girl, where you at? Got no strings, got men attached”
Isaac launches into their rendition of ‘When I Get You Alone’ (the glee cover of course) to a completely unsuspecting Scarlett.

More info: Spending most of their time creating some sort of art Isaac is often in the habit of gifting them to anyone they care about. But some people - they don’t just get the extras they get specific pieces.
Isaac liked to think of themselves as a good judge of character, sure they were susceptible to look for the good in everyone but they prided themselves on finding it. Some people didn’t need a lot of searching to find it though and one of those people was Gael. Isaac was drawn to him instantly and hadn’t been able to stop themselves from the continual flirtations since. Today they’d text to tell him they were coming round and with something in tow - a small box with one of their creations inside.
That was how Isaac found themselves in Gael’s room, gift sat unopened on a table as they made themselves comfortable in a space they’d frequented on occasions before. Getting to see into someone’s living space was always the easiest way to pick up on information about them. “You know you can open it right? It’s nothing special just a little thing I made while I was trying to find some inspiration.” The implication being thoughts of Gael had inspired them.

there’s a sigh of relief when they see isaac approaching. she knows on some level he wouldn’t just ditch her, at least not without warning, but there’s always that apprehension when fifteen minutes go by and the person you’re waiting for still hasn’t shown up. “thank gods, i thought you stood me up,” they tease, a grin gracing their lips. “it better be the most beautiful painting in the world to keep me waiting that long. i was almost going to feed the bread to the birds.” she’s not serious, and it is clear in her tone, already reaching into the basket to pull out the sweet wine, and goodies she’s made and packed. “of course, i did, what do you take me for? someone with mediocre picnic skills?” she asks, faux offense in her tone, as she grabs two glasses and sets them down. “you will like this. promise. now, tell me about your painting.”
-
“I thought about it but then I remembered, you’re so pretty that if I left you alone someone else would swoop in and enjoy your company and food and I’d be so jealous that I don’t know how I’d cope.” It had never really occurred to them to stand her up - it never would but Isaac was definitely someone who lost track of time often. “Once it’s finished I will make sure that you are the first to see it to make up for this.” Isaac settled themselves down beside her as Anais started to bring out the things she brought. “I would never say such a thing - I know that your skills are unmatched. The painting? It’s just a piece I’m working on for my room, I like to change things up every so often to keep it feeling different you know. It’s my take on a moment in my sister’s wedding but you wouldn’t know that unless you were there, or I told you. Like I said, I’ll make sure you’re the first to see it.” Isaac looked towards what she’d brought out. “Tell me what you brought - I’m hungry.”

“ Is it because of the name itself or its one specific Napoleon? ” Sebastian wondered, still looking at the stack of pictures. A sunset, broken pottery, empty wine glasses — it’s as though these were impromptu pictures. Unplanned and spontaneous. Most of them made Sebastian feel nostalgic, missing home. “ Truer words, ” he agreed, setting the pictures down on the table and turning his attention to Isaac once more. “ You ever tried using a camera obscura when taking pictures? ” It was an olden approach, yet somehow imagining Isaac using one wasn’t a far fetched thought. Sebastian sees the small canvas in their arms and raises both brows. “ I think you should show me yours first since you’re ready, yes? ” He offered, smiling a little.
-
“When I hear it I just think of all the stories about the little war tyrant - a lot of things there that I don’t really want to be associated with.” They just laughed as they continued to sort through the things, leaving Sebastian with their pictures. Isaac was never one to hide away their work from people once they deemed it to be ready but letting Sebasitan just explore whatever he found was a sign of trust - that Isaac was willing to let him into their process. “I haven’t no. Do you take pictures? It’s probably the type of art I do the least, well not including the ones I take on my phone but they’re in the moment snapshots sort of thing.” Now that it’s been mentioned though Isaac knows that they won’t be able to shake it, perhaps Sebastian will be able to help them get one to use. “Well that makes sense I guess - here.” Isaac says, handing Sebastian the small canvas they had been holding to their chest. On it there’s an abstract painting of a small town at the bottom of some mountains- Isaac’s rendition of a picture they’d found online of Sebastian’s hometown. The man had featured as a muse in many different formats for Isaac’s work but this small piece was one that was meant as a gift - something specifically for him not of him. “It’s just a little thing I thought you might like - a not so obvious reminder of home. I know it’s a thing we both think about. Home I mean.”

euiker:
“Actually, Vincent was sort of nice. I mean as nice as he can be.” Eating pasta with his brother was actually one of the best memories he has from that trip, so yeah, he doesn’t mind Isaac thinking that all his trip was like that. “So, what were you up to while we were running for our lives in Rome?” he asks, realizing that he doesn’t really know what his friend did for the past weeks. “Fine, but at some point, my ego will need to be fluffed. You didn’t know? Damn, Isaac, you are really not updated with the school gossip. Yeah, he pissed off that psycho Rion and he cut him. We don’t talk about it and we pretend we don’t see it because he’s still sensitive about it. If you see him in the hall, don’t stare at it.” He shakes his head, he still felt a bit bad about that whole ordeal, but oh well, at least now Vincent couldn’t pretend he’s the most perfect in this cabin. “He will never hear a compliment from me. I’d rather die.” He wishes he was kidding, but he really would rather die. “Not going to lie, I’m trying to change some habits but not that one, so don’t worry.” He smiles before he gives his full attention to the pages and soon enough, he’s able to shut the whole world. The story is not long, just seven pages and it ends sooner than he would have liked, but the plot twist at the end is so good, although too dark, that he lets out a sigh as he closes the book. “I told you it was no love story,” he says with a chuckle, his fingers still playing with his hair.
-
“I guess as his brother you probably get to see a different side to him.” That was as nice as Isaac was going to get about him but it was clear that Iker had at least had a nice time and that was what mattered to them the most. “I was back home in New Zealand. I almost feel bad that I was there, it seems like I was one of the only people who got to see their family over the holidays. I left campus early because my sister was getting married - it was lovely really.” They had a wonderful time at home but it felt strange to get too happy about it while everyone was still unpacking their time in Rome and what it had taken from them. “Hmm I guess I can schedule you in for an ego fluffing sometime soon.” Isaac gasps as they hear the story, bursting into laughter at the picture. “Oh that is priceless, I cannot wait to see him again.” Isaac wanted to press about the habits but it doesn’t feel like the right time, perhaps after the story they could breech some of the sensitive subjects they’ve sidestepped so far but for now Isaac just nods. “Good, because I don’t think you’d like what happens if you change that habit.” They close their eyes as Iker reads but as the story unfolds they open, Isaac trying their best to hold in tears at the tragic turn of events. “You.. Iker that was horrific! It wasn’t a love story it was heartbreaking... I don’t think I can move yet, I’m... Lord!” They laugh - out of awkwardness more than anything else. “Is one of your new habits to torture yourself with heartbreaking stories?”

Well, at least she hadn’t stormed off or completely shut down. The only giveaway was the way that her eyes remained focused on theirs, hungry and earnest for any advice or assistance. “Yes, I have. It’s one thing to use them in different ways, it’s another thing to not even be able to… It feels inadequate.” And to finally have been welcomed into the world of the supernatural that called her from childhood, the lack of ability felt even worse. “Letting go emotionally.” Each word was repeated slowly, “Are you saying I should figure out what the feeling is during those times?” It made sense! It was a start and it was something they didn’t think of. “It’s probably because I rarely went to camp.” One step forward, two steps back.
-
Isaac feels their heart sink as Avery voices her feelings. They are lucky enough to have had a long time between being at camp and Eonia to have come to terms with the variety of demi-gods and how their reality can’t be predicted by comparing to those around them. That, just like every parent would say, no two people are alike and that goes for the way their powers manifest also. “You are not inadequate Avery and you never will be. It’s upsetting to know that’s how you think - I hope you believe me when I say it’s not true.” Letting go emotionally wasn’t exactly what they’d meant - that could result in the opposite of what was happening now. She could lose complete control. “I’m saying that there’s obviously an ability to do so there so there’s something blocking you that you need to find out and deal with. You know going to camp might have made a difference sure. But it’s not important, you are here now and there are plenty of people around here who can help. Including me.”

it wasn’t until she saw isaac start to walk over, looking at the palette resting on the stool behind her, that she figured out what was about to happen and she figured they would go for her arm or neck, not directly on her face. eyes squeezed shut, in preparation for the cold of the paint on her skin when she noticed the direction their finger was going in. “oh you’re going to regret that.” before anything else can happen, she grabs the palette, swipes a bit of purple off of it, and presses it against isaac’s chest. the purple on her finger streaks down his forehead and nose, though she pulls away immediately after to put distance between them and grab more paint for ammunition.
-
Isaac doesn’t attempt to contain their laugh as they watch Ophelia’s reaction to their actions. “Oh I’m so scared.” They mock in jest. They had expected retaliation - it was the whole point after all - but she moves quicker than expected and before they are fully aware Isaac has paint trailing down the centre of their face and covering their shirt. No little paintbrush mark now. “No starting small huh? Straight to the nuclear option. I see how it is.” Ophelia had smartly moved away but Isaac knew these rooms like the back of their hand and moved to find a few bottles of the cheaper poster paint - perfect for long range attacks. They grab a red and a blue before spinning back round to face Ophelia. “Game on.” They said before squeezing the bottles sending a thin line of paint from both in her direction landing in a colourful splash on her clothes.

“ yeah, duh. it pays to have friends in high places ! ” she cheers, as though working at rainbow organic was the equivalent to being a king. “ but i just steal snacks and stuff… it’s like, not that big of a deal, right ? it’s food ! denying people food is just wrong. ” she argues the skewed logic she’s cooked up in her head to somehow justify it, but alex never stole in excess at the very least. she sighs heavily at the revelation of their bucketlist, a tsk tsk falling from her lips. “ oh, c’mon, you don’t have anything simple on there ? not everything has to be that deep, izzy. no offence to samson but your next boyfriend is gonna need to be a little more adventurous if you think caffeine is a thrill. ” she drank caffeine like it was water –– truth be told, she was worried she might actually have withdrawal effects at this point if she stopped. “ can’t you iris kids like make fake people? and you don’t do anything with that? i would be scaring the shit out of everyone on the regular. ”
-
“Wait we’re friends?” Isaac answered with a deadpan expression that they were only able to uphold for a couple of seconds before laughing. “It’s quite a funny subject because you’re right and I agree in some context but also you don’t know who you’re harming by doing so. But lets not get into that, just make sure that if you’re stealing it’s from them and not from Rainbow alright?” Isaac rolled their eyes as she began to tsk them, how were they being judged by Alex of all people right now? “I think if things were simple I could just do them no? That wouldn’t be much of a bucket list as much as it would just be a to-do list.” This time they kick her foot, still lightly but it’s in obvious retaliation on her read on their time with Samson and their adventurous spirit. “Just because I don’t have your knack for not caring about consequences does not mean I’ve lived a boring life thank you very much.” The mention of their illusion powers felt like Alex had just punched them in the stomach but Isaac tried to hide that, laughing through it instead. “What do you want me to turn this place into some horrifying place and you can try and see if you can make it out alive or something? Are my rainbows not enough for you Alex that I need to be creating literal illusions just to make myself seem worthy... I see how it is.”

eusamson:
𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐘 at the lighthearted jab, and samson can’t help the rush of affection as he’s pulled into a hug, reciprocating the gesture in kind. ❛ you too, isaac, ❜ there’s a smile in his voice as he replies, stepping back to survey the other, arms crossing over his chest in overdramatic mimicry of some of the more uptight team captains he’s seen around campus, ❛ as your overbearing captain, i say it’s my zeus-given right to spy on anyone using these dance facilities whether they like it or not ! ❜
serious facade falls in seconds, and a hand reaches out to clap isaac on the shoulder with a grin, gesturing with the other to the door, ❛ how about i buy you a coffee to make up for it, friend to friend ? we’ve got a lot to catch up on. ❜
-
Isaac smiles as they look at Samson, an eyebrow raising as they watch him cross his arms. Even in his attempt at mimicry Samson’s energy is so light that they’re unable to even imagine him in such a way. “To me that sounds like you’re just trying to spy on me which I do not think is cool. Wait are you the face I’ve been seeing at my window? I knew it.” They pushed him lightly in jest, laughing as Samson held up his serious façade. Isaac nodded as they heard the question. “Well if you’re buying you know that I’m not going to say no. We definitely have a lot to catch up on let me just grab my stuff.” Isaac spun away, gathering up their bag and such before walking back towards the door and straight past Samson. “Well you coming?”
Isaac took their coffee from him with the same soft smile that was always present in Samson’s company. “You really are a star thank you! Now I know this was your idea but I definitely think that you have more to tell than me so I think you should tell me what’s been happening with you first.”

rate yourself on a scale of 1-10
“I.. I need more than this. As a person? There’s quite a lot to take on board to give yourself a rating and really doesn’t it matter more what others perceive me as? But I guess today I’d give myself a solid 6... I’m not sure what for yet but yeah that feels right.”
