i would argue that it's important because: while it didn't necessarily invent all of the ides, tropes and styles in it, it definitely brought them to the mainstream. the non-linear story telling is a tired trope because of the popularity of Pulp Fiction. the Tarantino aesthetic of "just do what's cool even if it doesn't make sense" was embraced by viewers and mimicked by creators because of the popularity of PF. the very 90s style of over-sensationalized, maximalist, push the envelope to the furthest point you can style had a chance to flourish because of the way PF was lauded and popularized. also the introduction to like fetish and drug and other taboo cultures (though i wouldn't say this is handled responsibly) was further pushed into the mainstream as an idea that could go hand in hand with "high art" because of PF. it is also just, technically, is a very well made movie.
~ i wrote this about Pulp Fiction this morning after someone in a server said it maybe wasn't important not because i feel particularly strong about PF but because my brain can't help but contextualize everything - this is just how my brain processes art. and i would not have stopped thinking about why PF is "important" until i wrote that out & posted it - fully knowing that no one cares this much and probably would not respond to it. ~

it's just really weird to be upset, concerned or even question that a SUPERHERO is "champion of the oppressed"
who tf else are they supposed to be the "champion of" ???
like golly gee it's a real shame this fictional comic book character is helping out these oppressed citizens - what will woke hollywood ruin next!?!
