Noā¦ noā¦ hang on, because Iāve cried multiple times listening to this song because of the themes and the vocals, but likeā¦ just had a Lightbulb moment š”ā¦ was listening rn and I just gotta talk about this bit in Urania Propitia from Pulp Musicals Episode 2: The Brick Satellite
MARGARET: To the women of the galaxy/Who never got the fame
ROSE: Youāve given me the courage not to write/Under my brothers name
ANNA: Youāve given me the blueprint/And youāve given me the tools
ANNA, MARGARET, ROSE: History is rarely made/By those who write the rules
Because this line ALWAYS ALWAYS makes me think about the āWell-behaved women seldom make historyā quote and that phrase and how itās so often used to be about women needing to MAKE NOISE rather than in a somber remembrance of all those who DID what they were told, who FOLLOWED the rules becauseā¦ that was what was expected of them, or even women who didnāt follow the rules and protested and fought back, but werenāt the ones leading the charge, and they were left behind by history because of it. And while thereās much more nuance there that I donāt have the brain power for rn, I tend to sort ofā¦ despair sometimes for these women because it doesnāt even TAKE long for this happen even NOW, just a few generations before their names are GONE.
And I LOVE this bit in Pulp for this very reason, which I only literally JUST pieced together in my mind. (Like ofc i knew this line and loved it too, but I didnāt connect it my thoughts about that quote before just now)
The women of Pulp point this out. They toast to them, these women that ānever got the fameā, never got to be able to do what they wanted, what they couldāve excelled at had they been given the opportunity. And more than that, they THANK them.
Margaret, Rose and Anna are saying: Iāll never know you, but I see you anyway, and I thank you because youāre why Iām able to be here. You are the reason I know things need to change and itās scary but youāve inspired me to try my damn best to do that in the ways I can.
And I justā¦ š„¹

So Curt is going to be playing James's disapproving right hand man? I wonder where we've seen that before...

Love the part in Evil Dead 2 where Jake is being dragged into the cellar and Annie is trying to drag him out by the legs, but even when she's getting hit by a torrent of blood she's still pulling, like
Girl he's soup

š¶ that's what Herschel found up there š¶
I was listening to TGMH one day and that two guys pointing meme was just beamed into my head when I heard this part, so I thought it'd be fun to use that silly idea as a springboard for some digital art experiments. This is the first time I've attempted digital painting, and I'm probably gonna shop around for different painting methods until I find one I really like, but I learned a lot from this, and I think it turned out pretty neat. :)

unfortunately this is another project with a case of Looks Better As A Sketch disease, lol... when I practice & get better at rendering hopefully I'll be able to retain more of the flow & energy of the sketches?? still pretty happy with this, overall!

Can we talk about how TERRIFIC Matt Dahan's film score is for Workin' Boys? Like, damn. The way he weaves in Jeff's various different Hatchetfield motifs throughout the film and in the perfect places while making them sound completely fresh? The "Show-Stoppin' Number" remix for the title card song? Just wow. Amazing job. I'm so glad and grateful that Starkid found Matt.

āKen wouldnāt do that to Barbie, itās out of character!ā Babes, that is the point.
Ken and his discovery of the patriarchy and the way it changes him is the exact same as what happens with adolescent boys. You have these guys who were so close to you, wether through friendship or family become people that they arenāt due to both peer pressure and the desire to hold power. Especially with the whole āpodcast broā thing he had going on in the Ken Dojo Casa House scene, Ken represents all the boys that lean into the patriarchy and change for the worst.
Ken was always so sweet, he was stupid and lovable and would do anything for Barbie. Then he got roped into toxic masculinity and all of a sudden he was cruel and pretentious. This is the same path that many of the guys I was friends with as a kid fell down. Barbie represents growing up as a woman and Ken represents growing up as a man.
