falling feather, whom I am much less pleased with design wise than jackdaw’s cry. i think its mostly just that his design suffers less from the yellow-white highlights, but the blue-black on falling feather’s design clashes Supremely. i didn’t want to sacrifice the idea of both of the, having each others main color as a highlight, though.

i don’t know why but with his (and later, falling feather’s design, i was super invested in making pelt patterns with barely distinguishable color differences — maybe because they were supposed to be pure white and pure black in canon? anyways. i always see jackdaw’s cry being sad and starving. let’s make him neutral this time around (he’s still got bat motif markings though)

design that I’m extremely disappointed by. i like how i did her pose, and I wanted it to mirror her fathers pose (both as what they looked like right before dying). but man… im not satisfied with her colors, not the way they interact with her fur texture. i wanted to add something to her mane and tail, because it looks too bare, but all the patterns I tried to think of ended up looking ugly. im also adding the rainswept flower design I made years ago because honestly i like that one more.

somehow the minty blue white seems to work better than the pinkish white. will keep that in mind. i also think that maybe i changed too much in an effort to make her similar looking to shaded moss.

i really don't want to write a whole Thesis on tall shadow until i've read the whole book but hgg. i remember now why she meant so much to me. like. she's extremely calculating and bets so much on her clan's admittedly impressionable view of outsiders. but all gray wing can do is rely on her own personal liking of turtle tail, otherwise there's probably no place for her there. do u think she ever gets imposter syndrome because her authority "came from" shaded moss. why does she view turtle tail's and gray wing's suggestion as challenges to her power? how do cats learn to lead, anyways? was half moon better at conflict resolution? has tall shadow weighed the costs and benefits of an unmoving vs amiable persona and made a decision accordingly or are we all just doomed because no leader in warriors ever gets taught to be a leader? i guess at least in modern series times we have that transitional deputy phase where cats can make more mistakes with their leader as a safety net with higher authority but man .

(also i tried to make his eyes look like those insects trapped in amber bc the wiki said he had amber eyes -- not sure how well that translates as his eyes are so small. im not used to making detailed eyes, i usually do that "one color, one slit pupil" thing)

sentences that don't make me feel insane. anyways i think it's really interesting that the specific setting of warriors would probably create this mindset -- that any comfort is hard-won, a finite resource, and not deserved by any cat who suffered for it. guy of all time i guess

quiet rain; didn’t make her look as related to her sons and daughter than i did w/the wind star family bc i was more invested in making her look one particular way. shes got jagged peaks eyes though

I have the urge to do a warriors-Guardians of Ga’Hoole swap AU. So like flip them both and make character designs.

But I can’t tell if I want to fit the plot of the first arc into the guardians of ga’hoole lore and the plot of the first 6 ga’hoole books into the warriors lore. Or simply just make the cats owls and make the owls cats and keep the lore largely the same.

but it would go like this: Rusty is a young short earred owl in a zoo/preserve and sees a young great grey out there that he meets with. Eventually the leader of these wild owls comes to him to invite him to live in the wild.

and then: Soren and his siblings are a litter of Siamese kittens born in the wild with their parents. They live a good life. But somehow, mysteriously, Soren is tricked to leaving the small valley they shelter in, and snatched by a larger cat and whisked away. He is joined by a small grey tabby kitten, and they need to work together to get out of their predicament.
