Goodbye Tumblr

I came to Tumblr to get away from the censorship of Facebook, to express my interest in the way I wanted. Now that big business wants to censor content, they're claiming that it's all because of a child pornography incident. It's about MONEY! The only way that Yahoo can compete with Facebook is to implement guidelines similar to them. So in order to bring in money from advertising, away goes what I like about Tumblr, the ability to express yourself freely. I understand the importance of cracking down on things like child pornography, racism, the glorification of suicide/mass killings. But there are better ways of doing it besides banning adult content. I hope to find another way to express my interests, and be able to see some of the same posts I came to enjoy here with Tumblr. Because of the adult content ban, on December 17th I will be no longer using this app. I will be deleting my account and uninstalling the app. I apologized to the pages I have followed, because of my decision to delete the app, you will be loosing followers. But the only way to let Yahoo understand, that their decision to censor content goes against why I came here, is to delete everything.

So in protest to the change, I say goodbye to Tumblr and the people I have been following. I understand that this is an app, but I didn't see pages that computers put on the internet. I saw people, pouring their own hearts and minds into what they posted. If I didn't like what you posted, I could unfollow you. If I liked what I saw, I followed, commented, and "liked" your posts. Because of the way Tumblr tagged the original poster, I was able to find like minded people and follow them. The way I think isn't mainstream, and I know that. But because of the content ban, there goes a big part of how I express myself. Yahoo/Facebook can have all the people that don't think like me and I will find another way to express myself. I hope to see some of the same people in other apps I will be trying out, even the "PG-13" posters.
