Had a question about tags. Are creators allowed to use additional tags beyond what was requested? Like, if the request only has a couple tags, can the creator add more to the actual submission so long as they use the ones in the request?
Yes. As a creator, you’re absolutely allowed to use additional tags beyond what was requested. The tags you choose to apply to your finished work are entirely up to you.
You don’t even have to use the exact tags from the request when posting. Your work just needs to include the content that the requester asked for.

Hi! Would you be able to explain how should we split our offers up? Is there any practical difference between making a single offer with every relationship and tag we’re interested in writing/drawing vs making separate offers?
Hi! Great question. Splitting your offers is helpful because many people are only comfortable creating fanworks with certain tags, ratings, or archive warnings for specific ships, not all of them.
For example, let’s say you want to offer: 1. Drawing fluffy Jason/Roy fanart 2. Writing an angsty Jason/Tim fic 3. Writing a dark Jason/Slade fic
You can create three separate offers, like this:
Offer 1 Ship: Jason/Roy Medium: Fanart Archive warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Rating: G, T Tags: Sleepy Cuddles
Offer 2 Ship: Jason/Tim Medium: Fanfic Archive warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Rating: T, M Tags: Hanahaki Disease
Offer 3 Ship: Jason/Slade Medium: Fanfic Archive warnings: Creator Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings, Graphic Depictions of Violence Rating: M, E Tags: Deal with a Devil
If you put all of these into one single offer, the system could match you with someone requesting something like an E-rated Jason/Roy fic with Hanahaki Disease, which you never intended to write.
So splitting your offers helps keep matches accurate and makes sure you’re only matched to requests you’re actually happy to fulfill!

A guide to signing up for the Jason Todd-centric Exchange
Go to the collection page.
Click the "Sign-up Form" button in the upper left corner.
You must create 3-5 requests. For each request, you pick 1 fandom, 1-3 mediums (fanart, fanfic, and other), 1-10 relationships/characters, 1-10 freeform tags, any ratings, and any archive warnings you're interested in receiving a gift about.
Please keep in mind that the "/" is for romantic and/or sexual relationships and the "&" is for non-sexual and non-romantic relationships.
Choosing which fandom to use in a request under depends on your preferences. When it comes to comic books you have two options. If you don't care about a specific comic period, you can use "DCU (Comics)" and if you're interested in a certain comic run, you can narrow it down and use "Red Hood: Lost Days" for example. Please remember that "Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)" tag is for the movie and "Batman: Under the Hood (2005)" tag is for the comic book. Additionally, "Batman - All Media Types" covers all Batman canons so if you sign up with it as your fandom, you're opting in for anything from Arkham Games to WFA. Similarly, "Teen Titans - All Media Types" covers all canons with Teen Titans, including the comics, Teen Titans (Animated Series) and Titans (2018). "DCU" encompasses all continuities, timelines, and adaptations made by DC.
Please use the "Description" box to provide additional details, likes, and prompts for your you feel would be helpful for your fanwork gift creator. Please make sure you add all unwanted tropes, characters and/or relationships to your ‘DNW’ list. A DNW is a thing you Do Not Want to get in a fic. All DNWs must be included in the description of the request in order to be enforceable. DNWs should be clear, free of judgement, and not box your creator in or be in conflict with the request. Your fanwork creator is required to avoid your DNWs to the best of their ability.
If you want to provide additional information than you can't fit in the sign-up, use the "Letter" field to link to a post hosted somewhere outside of AO3.
After you finish writing your requests, you must create 1-5 offers. For each offer, you pick 1 fandom, 1-3 mediums (fanart, fanfic, and other), 1-10 relationships/characters, 1-10 freeform tags, any ratings, and any archive warnings you're interested in creating a fanwork about. You don't need to include any additional details, but you have the option to inform the mods about something in the "Description" box.
If your offers are unmatchable you’ll be contacted after signups close and asked if you wish to drop out or add more offers. Make sure that the email address linked to your AO3 account is working and remember to check your AO3 email during the exchange.
Click the "Submit" button in the lower right corner. Your requests should show up in the "Requests Summary" tab.

Sorry same anon you just answered back with one last clarifying question—are the tags already listed on the collection tag set page ones that have already been nominated?
Yes! All the tags you see on the collection tag set page have already been nominated and approved. You’ll be able to use them during sign-ups in both your offers and requests. :)
Feel free to ask if anything else is unclear, we're happy to help!

Do you have to use what you nominate? Are your nominations tied to your ao3 account? And do you have to nominate to participate?
Sorry for the questions, this is my first exchange!
No worries at all, we're happy to help.
No, you don’t have to use the tags you nominate, in either your requests or your offers. Nominating just helps build the tag set for everyone participating.
Yes, nominations are tied to your AO3 account for technical reasons, but they’re private. Nobody (including the mods) can see which tags you personally nominated.
No, you don’t have to nominate tags in order to sign up for the exchange. And nominating tags doesn’t mean you’re required to participate later, either.
Thanks for asking, and welcome to your first exchange! Let us know if you have any more questions :)

Nominations clarifications #1
Happy time zone, everyone, and thank you for all the nominations so far. We have some questions regarding certain relationship tags.
All of these were nominated under the Crossover Fandom tag without specifying which version of Jason Todd is intended. Should we assume it's a general DCU Jason, leaving the choice up to the creator? Or would the nominator prefer to specify a particular version, such as DC Comics or Arkham Games?
Bowery King (John Wick) & Jason Todd Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)/Jason Todd Charon (John Wick) & Jason Todd Faith Lehane (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)/Jason Todd Heather Mason | Cheryl Mason (Silent Hill) & Jason Todd Maria (Silent Hill) & Jason Todd Mira (Silent Hill) & Jason Todd Nikita Mears (Nikita) & Jason Todd

Please disambiguate all relationships and characters with the full or abbreviated canon name in parenthesis!
Examples: Jason Todd & Tim Drake (DCU Comics) or Jason Todd/Dick Grayson (Titans 2018). This makes the approval process so much faster and our work easier.

Note
How does one nominate AUs?
AUs should be nominated as freeform tags. Look in the tag set for examples like "Alternate Universe - College/University" or "Alternate Universe - Royalty".
When nominating an AU, make sure it’s a canonical tag on AO3, since all freeform tags in this exchange must be canonical. For example: "Batkids Age Reversal | Reverse Robins (DCU)" is a canonical tag and can be nominated but "Jason Todd leaves the Batfamily" is not a canonical tag and therefore can’t be nominated.
However, you can still request that kind of plot by describing it in the additional details section of your sign-up.

A guide to nominating tags for the Jason Todd-centric Exchange
Go to the tag set page.
Click the "Nominate" button in the upper right corner.
There are 10 fandom slots and you can nominate up to 10 relationships in each slot. The fandoms can't be repeated. All relationships must include Jason. Please keep in mind that the "/" is for romantic and/or sexual relationships and the "&" is for non-sexual and non-romantic relationships.
Choosing which fandom to nominate you relationship under depends on your preferences. When it comes to comic books you have two options. If you don't care about a specific comic period, you can nominate a relationship under "DCU (Comics)" or "Batman (Comics)". If you're interested in a certain comic run, you can narrow it down and use "Red Hood: Lost Days" or "Red Hood and the Outlaws" for example.
If you want to nominate Jason as a solo character in a certain fandom, please reach out to the mods and we'll add him for you.
Please disambiguate all relationships and characters with the full or abbreviated canon name in parenthesis! Examples: Jason Todd & Tim Drake (DCU Comics) or Jason Todd/Dick Grayson (Titans 2018). This makes the approval process much faster and our work easier.
Nominate crossover relationships under Crossover Fandom, with a fandom disambiguation after each character's name. Examples: Jason Todd (DCU Comics) & Slade Wilson (Arkham Games) or Jason Todd (DCU Comics)/James "Bucky" Barnes (MCU).
You can also nominate up to 10 freeform tags. Freeform tags must be canonical.
Click the "Submit" button in the lower left corner. After your tags get approved, they will show up in the tag set.

Make sure to review the updated guidelines before sign-ups begin! You can find everything in the Rules & FAQ post.
Also, we’re excited to announce that we have a new mod, @rbundollie, joining the team this year.

Rules and FAQ
What is Jason Todd-centric Exchange?
Jason Todd-centric Exchange is a gift exchange dedicated to fanfic, fanart, and other fanworks focused on the DCU character Jason Todd. Participants create a gift for another fan and receive a gift in return.
Schedule
Nominations: July 5th - July 12th
Sign-ups: July 14th - July 21st
Assignments out: July 23rd
Works due: September 22nd
Works revealed: September 29th
Authors revealed: October 6th
All deadlines are at 22:00 UTC.
Can I participate?
You must have an AO3 account and be 18 or older to participate, as the exchange is carried out through AO3 and the requests may include content not suitable for minors.
Where do I sign-up?
Signups will start on July 14th and will be through AO3.
What are the requirements for gifted fanworks?
Participants must create a new, complete story in English that is at least 2000 words long or a piece of artwork that is at least a clean finished colored line art on unlined paper. For other types of fanwork (such as crocheting instructions, web weaves, original songs, etc.), minimum requirements will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the mods.
Each work must match the recipient’s requested combination of fandom, work medium (fanfic, fanart or other), rating, archive warning, relationship/character, and an additional tag and respect their DNWs.
Your gift may have only one recipient.
Please do not post about your assignment in public/semi-public spaces before creator reveals.
AI-generated fanworks are not allowed.
What am I allowed to request and offer?
We welcome any and all kinds of requests and offers centered around Jason Todd.
Requests can have any rating, including explicit, use any archive warnings, and include any type of relationship or no relationship at all. The event is ship friendly - all ships are welcome. Crossovers are also allowed.
You must have 3-5 requests. Each request can have any ratings, any archive warnings, 1 fandom, 1-10 relationships/characters, 1-3 mediums (fanart, fanfic, and other), and 1-10 freeform tags.
Please make sure you add unwanted tropes, characters and/or relationships to your ‘DNW’ list. A DNW is a thing you Do Not Want to get in a fic. All DNWs must be included in the optional details of the request in order to be enforceable. DNWs should be clear, free of judgement, and not box your creator in or be in conflict with the request.
You must have 1-5 offers. Each offer can have any ratings, any archive warnings, 1 fandom, 1-10 relationships/characters, 1-3 mediums (fanart, fanfic, and other), and 1-10 freeform tags.
If your offers are unmatchable you’ll be contacted after signups close and asked if you wish to drop out or add more offers.
Make sure that the email address linked to your AO3 account is working and remember to check your AO3 email during the exchange.
Do I need to create a fanwork for every request my recipient makes? What if I don’t like one of them?
No, you only need to fulfill one request from your recipient.
When you make offers during sign-ups, you're selecting what you're genuinely willing to create. If you’re matched to a recipient, it means there’s at least one overlap between their request and your offer.
If you're assigned a recipient, it means that one of your offers matches with a full combination (1 fandom, 1 medium, 1 character or relationship, 1 archive warning, 1 rating, 1 freeform tag) from one of their requests. You are only expected to create a fanwork based on that specific combination.
If you later find that you can't complete the assignment, for example, because the recipient’s additional details describe a take on Jason that’s incompatible with how you interpret him, you can always default. There’s no penalty for defaulting, and you’re welcome to later pick up a different unclaimed request as a pinch hit.
You can also look at previous years’ requests (linked on the exchange blog) to get an idea of what to expect.
Are treats allowed (giving/receiving)?
Yes!
What are treats?
Treats are extra fanworks created for participants or the collection that are not assigned as part of the main exchange. They can be based on someone’s requests or simply inspired by the tag set.
Anyone can create a treat, even if they didn’t sign up for the exchange. There is no minimum word count for treats.
Sometimes people don't want to receive treats but by signing up for this exchange you're agreeing to the possibility of receiving them.
What is a nomination period? Why do we need to nominate tags?
The nomination period is the time when participants suggest tags to be included in the exchange's tag set, the list of available fandoms, characters/relationships, and freeform tags that can be requested or offered during sign-ups.
For example, if you want to receive a fic focused on Dick & Jason sibling bonding, you'd nominate the relationship tag Dick Grayson & Jason Todd and the freeform tag Sibling Bonding. If a tag is not in the tag set once nominations close, it cannot be requested in the exchange.
Nominations keep the exchange organized by ensuring that requests and offers reflect what participants are actually interested in. They also streamline the matching process by reducing the number of potential tag combinations. Additionally, they ensure correct fandom tagging and prevent confusion when the same pairing appears in multiple fandoms (e.g. Slade Wilson/Jason Todd (Arkham Games) and Slade Wilson/Jason Todd (DCU Comics)).
How do I contact the recipient of my gift if I have any questions?
If you need clarification about your recipient’s request, do not contact them directly.
Instead, message the mods and we will pass along your question. This helps preserve anonymity and keeps the process smooth and organized for everyone involved.
What if I can’t finish on time?
If you cannot complete your assignment, hit the “default” button on your assignments page on AO3. Please try to do it as early as possible, so your former assignment can go out for pinch hit. There is no penalty for defaulting.
Pinch hits will be posted on this tumblr.
If both you and your creator default, your assignment will still be offered as a pinch hit. However, we will not delay reveals if you do not receive a gift.
If you are a no-show at deadline or turn in a placeholder instead of a completed work, you will be banned from participating in the exchange next year.
If you need additional time to finish your assignment, you may request a 3-day extension by messaging the mods before the deadline.
What are pinch hits?
Pinch hits are unassigned or reassigned requests that need someone to step in and fulfill them.
According to Fanlore: “In gift exchanges, especially in exchange fandom, each participant is due a fanwork from another participant. A pinch hit is a fanwork produced for a request that's in need of fulfilment either because there were no offers that matched to it or because the participant assigned the request defaulted. Moderators will call for pinch-hitters to ensure that every participant receives something.”
If you're interested in volunteering for pinch hits, keep an eye on the exchange Tumblr or Discord during the event!
When will the reveals happen?
Works will be revealed when everyone who fulfilled their assignment has a gift. Please leave kudos and comments on your gift(s). If you aren’t sure what to say, a simple “Thank you for the gift!” is fine.
Do I need to join the Discord server?
No, you don't need to join the Discord server to participate in the exchange. Sign-ups and assignments will be handled entirely through AO3, all relevant information will be posted on this blog.
That said, we do recommend joining the Discord, it's a great place to chat with fellow fans and take part in fun Jason-related discussions.
How do I contact the mods?
You can reach the mods through any of the following:
Tumblr: Use the “Ask the mods” option on this blog
Tumblr DM: @sasheneskywalker and @rbundollie
Discord: sashene, bundollier, or #events-and-exchanges channel on The Crow Bar server
Email: [email protected]
Please be respectful toward other participants and keep things civil and polite.
The mods reserve the right to update the rules if needed.

Jason Todd Week Summer 2025 will run July 28th – August 3rd, 2025!
There will be two aspects to this event:
The main part is the prompt challenges. You can use one, two, or three of a day's prompts—it's up to you! If you don't like any of the given prompts for a day, you can substitute one of the Alternate Prompts. In general, you can interpret each prompt however loosely you want, and for quote prompts, you definitely don't have to use the exact quote. If you want make something for Jason Todd Week that doesn't fit any of the prompts, don't panic! You can use the "FREE PROMPT" on the final day to post any Jason Todd work you want. Each prompt also has a song corresponding to it in the playlist. There is also a playlist guide so that you can know what songs there are if you don't use Spotify.
The secondary aspect is another opportunity to participate if you don't feel comfortable creating art, writing, or other media. Each day of the week, there will be a be an open-ended question about your opinions/ideas related to Jason Todd that you can respond to. For example, "What is your favorite Jason Todd headcanon?"
If you post on Tumblr, you can use the tag #jtwsummer2025 or @ this blog (@jason-todd-week). There's also an AO3 collection (Jason_Todd_Week_Summer_2025).
For your filtering, this blog will tag reblogs with #reblogs, the day, the prompt(s), media type, any non-Jason characters, any romantic or sexual ships (with full character name/full character name as well as ship name if I know it), and any warnings. Anything explicit will be tagged #explicit. Example: #reblogs #day 6 #scars #enemy to caretaker #fic #tim drake #gun violence. Please filter out tags you don’t want to see.
Because I am not able to read/see every work posted (due to time constraints and personal boundaries), some warnings or characters may be untagged if they are not in the original post’s tags.
Feel free to join the Discord!
