I mean, not only does this happen, but I also run a blog with information on Elder Scrolls pop culture paganism and magic specifically with @the-college-of-whispers.
Would it be okay to worship a God or goddess from a video game? Like if I wanted to worship Diabella or Mara from skyrim or would that be too silly?
I’ve known people who do that, pop culture paganism is a thing. I’d always say proceed with caution when worshipping anything that is owned by a corporation for obvious reasons, but it’s definitely a thing people do and it’s up to you whether it’s “too silly” or not for your personal practice and personal philosophy about how this all works

Actually, I enjoyed writing out my thoughts on divination. That was almost cathartic.

do you have any divination opinions that aren't just "tarot is overrated"? it seems like that one is everybody's go-to
As someone who practices tarot, I too agree that it's pretty overrated. But that's beside the point.
My main opinion about divination is informed by running a tarot-reading blog (that I am thiiiis fucking close 🤏 to shuttering [my fingers are touching]). I believe that people are way too concerned about how things "will go" and aren't concerned enough with their role in it.
When I receive asks and divination requests, I notice that a lot of people are really passive in the way they frame their questions. This is most often seen in the form of "How does X feel about me?" and "How are my finals/school tests going to go?"
That second one makes me stop and go "Sugar, honey, are you studying?"
Because there are things that truly do just "happen" in life. But school tests are not one of those, especially for my college-age and college-learning querents. I understand anxiety about the test, gods know I get anxious about those too, but you can't be passive with tests. You have to actually take them and study for them.
The same, I believe, goes for connections with other people, especially through questions with implied romantic/sexual tension behind them, as is often the case for the "How does X feel about me?" type. If you want to know how X feels about you, you have to make a point to interact with and understand them. I never got questions that were geared more "active", such as "What can I do to get X to notice me?" or "What are some things I could do to better my relationship with X?"
Ignore the fact that I'm aroace and refuse to do relationship readings for a moment, because the querents looking for free readings sure do. The number of readings that I essentially "return to sender" without answering because they can't follow my guidelines is why I'm this fucking close to McSnapping.
And so many of the questions I get are just yes/no questions but reworded slightly to barely qualify as tarot-appropriate questions. Most of these rewords fail because they already assume one outcome is more inherent/innate than any others.
Thanks for sending this in, anon! I...did not realize I had this much to bitch about.

When it comes to witchcraft I have a lot of UPG, but I also have a lot of headcanon.
What's headcanon you have about (your) witchcraft that's not actual UPG?
(UPG = Unverified Personal Gnosis. It refers to understanding or knowledge that you've discovered for yourself on your spiritual journey, which may not be believed/agreed upon by anyone else. It's a shorthand way of saying, "I believe this, but I don't expect anyone else does or needs to.")

I was, as a matter of fact. The Devil works hard but Sec works harder, it seems.
Listen I'm out here just looking up spells again in llewelyn's spell a day. And sometimes you just find a spell.
And sometimes.... you just find... a spell:

name a famous occultist whomst you have hunted for sport, killed, cooked, and eaten. Bonus points for a small story detailing your exploits? (for the lying ask game)
I'll tell you one that I hunted down so well that you won't find shit about him on anymore. Adamantine Whistleduck. We got into a bit of a tizzy back in the 1340s and I swore an oath of vengeance to rid this world of him.
And then I did :)
I will not be detailing the exact ritual used, because I don't want any of you little shits undoing all that hard work, but I will say that it involved the urine of a dragon, a griffin's mucous, and the armpit hair of a mermaid, along with the late-night hunt of Whistleduck. It was...a very smelly ritual. None of that smelled good, especially when burnt.
But heyyy, now none of you have to deal with Whistleduck's pompous bullshit, so all's well that ends well.

Hi, I hope you’re doing well!! I have a question about working with your ancestors. I’ve started to fully work with my ancestors a few months ago. I’ve noticed that I only really connect with one side of my ethnic ancestry and I feel the majority of ancestors who are in my life are from that side of my family/ancestry . I also feel more connected with my ancestors from a “older” time. Idk what I am asking exactly, but is it normal to connect with one side of your ancestry/ethnic culture/ancestors than the other side of your ancestors? (“Side” as in your mothers or fathers side of the family) I connect with my fathers side more than my mothers even though I grew up spending a lot of time with my mothers family and spending little to no time with my dads side of the family. There is a lot of trauma on my moms side of the family, perhaps that’s why I feel disconnected from them, but looking back into my childhood I always connected with my fathers side of my family and ethnic heritage more than my moms, okay now I am just talking to myself! But any advice or clarity would be appreciated since I am still very new to ancestor work!
Thank you for your time❤️❤️
Hey there, anon! I think you perhaps meant to send this to someone else. I don't do ancestor work, worship, or veneration. I can't provide any advice/clarity because this is literally not what I do.
I, personally, don't want to tell you how to practice your own practice or live your life. But it seems to me that you're overthinking this a little too much? Which I also do, so I get it.
My best advice is "do what you want forever" because this is a very personal thing for you. My second piece of advice is to seek out blogs and books that actually talk about ancestor work/worship/veneration.
I'll throw this out to the dashboard so other blogs can comment or provide resources. Make sure you check the comments and reblogs of this post, anon!
