okay let’s back up again from me being insane and look at the BEAUTIFUL voiceover abigail delivers during nicholas’ funeral. she sees the crew mourning their brother, the deep sadness, the rituals, and she has a revelation at last. god I’n so proud of her, a girl kidnapped twice by pirates and dubious as to the third “rescueing” by a different pirate, allowing herself room to grow and change and see past her bias UGH I love it

there it is folks, there’s the thesis of the show, and perhaps a bit more relevant in this given episode the thesis of the season. presented in beautiful cadence, in poetry.

who is the villain of s2? it’s not ned low, no he’s a bait and switch, that is quickly subverted, and it’s not vane and his lumberjacks, not really. the villain of s2 is peter ashe and civilization. the villain in black sails is, at the end of the day, ALWAYS civilization. 

it’s about truths and mistruths monsters and men and clouding and clarifying and the power of stories and how they trick us and how recontexualizing into a narrative, depending on the speaker, depending on the motive, depending on the INTENT, can influence one, can befuddle you, can block your perception and that a story MUST be interrogated

was writing about lake sturgeon for a class assignment and showed one of my friends what i'd written.. he then sent part of it back to me with line breaks to turn it into a poem! i just had to draw something for it :]

lake sturgeon don't know that they're endangered. They don't know anything - other than the muck at the bottom of the water column and the occasional passing touch of another.

really touched by how my friend turned my technical writing into poetry. i haven't tried to write creatively in months, so it's nice to see i've still got it- and nicer still that i could get so inspired by my friend, since i haven't made nature art in a little while, either :>!!

I've been missing certain sensory features of my home state recently so I bought a candle called "Sweet Tea." Well... it didn't smell the right way when burning. So then I bought a different candle called "Magnolia."
