there’s something so beautiful about this scene. it’s as if they can see each other on a whole different level. the way jj tells emily she can see her having a family, and how emily asks her if she really believes it, likely wishing she could have exactly that with her. maybe jj didn’t realize it right then, but she wished for it too. it is so clear in the way they look at each other how much they care. the fact that the song playing in the background is titled “to build a home” really encompasses the meaning of this scene… that they could build a home together

just jj lovingly staring at emily and emily of course looking back with as much love while watching the love of her life being held by someone that isn’t her… trying not to show how much it hurts while the woman that means the world to her gets married to someone else as she is left absolutely heartbroken that she couldn’t be enough for her

who’s going to tell her she’s been looking at her best friend the same way after all these years?

jj x lighting up when emily walks in the room

she really meant it when she said it gives her emily. look at her! she’s so smiley and emily’s the reason for that. can’t understand why anyone would ever say she isn’t important to jj. that girl thinks the world of her! that’s why their relationship will always be so incredibly special.

“i am just trying to help you to take care of you”

emily says this as she wants to help jj in any way that she can.

her choice of words is interesting here.

why didn’t she just say “i want to take care of you”? which is what she seems to be implying.

if she had said that, it would make it much more undoubtedly romantic. both to emily herself, and to the audience.

for emily, she seems to be very aware of this. she says it in this way so that she can express that she wants to help her, but also not fully let herself feel what she’s feeling.

even with the years that go by, they stay the same, and they know that.

the way emily practically rushes over to jj to help her and lovingly look into her eyes while the rest of team is just being so serious about whatever it is that’s going on

the way emily looks at jj. she looks at her so lovingly that even jj doesn’t notice when it starts to become a normal thing between them. how can anybody say this is not the look of a woman who is absolutely in love? what is the explanation?

but she did have the real thing. jj just wasn’t ready to accept it yet. maybe she couldn’t even see it yet. but it was there. there was always just so much love in the way they looked at each other. there still is. now that jj might be more aware of it, emily is the one that has lost sight of it… even though it still exists. she might have given up on thinking it was a reality, and she doesn’t know what to do with that.

she can still have the real thing.
