The ways Annie and Reiner were raised are so apparent when they get into confrontations, because Reiner gets so passive-aggressive and guilt-trippy actually, and Annie gets physical.

RE on Zeke’s plush monkey and that rough sketch I did. Imagine Zeke play-acting that monkey toy’s suicide. Because he wants to kill himself but he can’t, so he’ll act it out on the things his mentor left behind to him, the toy that oh so conveniently looks like his wretched Titan. He’ll ‘hang’ it with rope from the lightbulb and he’ll try ‘drowning’ it under the water in his bathtub. It’s the best he can do.

In the end the biggest Isayama failure for me was not spending more time on Marley. It should’ve been fully fleshed out as well as the Warriors’ lives in there. At least a half-season of proper Marley shit. We could’ve had good rep of a literal segregated state with state sanctioned police brutality and enforced racism and propoganda taught right from nursery. George Orwell 1984 type style manipulation and paranoia of your own neighbours and control of information and distrust inbused into ordinary life. Contrast all the colours of Paradis Island-the forests and the rivers and the sunsets-with the oppressive grey of Marley and its big buildings blocking out the sun and its grey stone blocking out any wild nature from emerging.

Zeke being viewed as like the peak of physical sexuality for men in Marley (especially if we’re going by the references, blue eyed blond haired ‘Aryan’ men) strong, bold, charismatic, a war man but simultaneously being a filthy lesser Eldian who has to rely on his spinal fluid (things like that associated with poison, blood, milk, water which are all seen as feminine things) had to have been so fucking confusing for his own views on his sense of self. He’s everything they should want, but he isn’t. He will always be an Eldian, he cannot escape himself. He will never be what they want. His body is the scene of the crimes done to him.

The Zeke-Levi dynamic is so CRAZY. Opposite colour schemes with Levi’s dark hair and Zeke’s light hair, but incidentally its Zeke who wants to sterilise his entire race and Levi who wants to stop him doing that. Zeke looks like Levi’s dead Commander. Both Zeke and Levi had a hand in Erwin’s death. Levi associates Zeke with his comrades’ deaths but Marley who brutalised Zeke was responsible for that. Levi who was Underground scum and referred to as a devil/bad man/monster and Zeke is very angel-coded and called a saviour and is the goddess’s scion. Levi as an Ackerman was meant to serve the Eldian Kings but ends up killing him instead.

The Kuchel/Zeke sex worker thing is so so soso so wild to me because iirc biblical!Levi killed his sister Dina’s (!!!!!) rapists. And Zeke looks very much like Dina. And a rape threat/joke was canonically made towards Dina in the show. Fun!!
