location : the cool cat diner  availability : open 

josie had always loved the cool cat diner because it often reminded her of simpler times. when the biggest concern in her life was whether or not she wanted to try out for cheerleading freshman year or how she was going to juggle playing piano with her volunteer work. and yes, those times were not as simple as josie made them seem at the time or as simple as she would like to think of them as now, but nonetheless, they brought her comfort. so whenever she felt like things were going to be too much, off to the cool cat diner she went to drink a milkshake, eat a burger, and forget about life for a few fleeting minutes. of course, josie being josie, that never actually worked because she was so good at overthinking that she was thinking on putting it on her resume. but she tried to pretend, like she always had, that doing this would bring her some sort of comfort. that maybe she just needed a change in scenery, that the problem wasn’t her.

and right now, things were getting to be a lot. not only did she have to deal with her strained relationship with her parents but now there was this murder and...she always knew that bad things happened, she had read the bible front to back many times after all, but she just never expected something like this to happen in coolsville. sitting at the counter of the diner, she gave the waitress a soft smile and nodded when they asked the usual? when she finally got her meal, she closed her eyes, trying to imagine that she was in a movie where things were simpler. she didn’t even notice the person sitting next to her until they tapped her on the shoulder, bringing her out of her daze. she jolted and let out a small gasp at their touch. “oh my god, i’m so sorry. i didn’t see you. do you want some fries?” she offers her plate.
