A disclosure.

Trigger warning: Sexual abuse and rape culture Before I even knew what sex was, I was being sexually abused. When I became a young adult, I learned from personal experience what sexual coercion is. It's not the violent and explicit rape that's shoved in your face in movies, TV, art, etc. in order to desensitize and facilitate how you, regardless of gender, mistreat women on a daily basis. Sexual coercion can be mundane and when viewing with eyes that aren't unlearning rape culture, looks consensual because egregious things aren't happening. I want to talk about rape culture from the mundane to the most egregious. I was and am still ashamed of this when I shouldn't be. I disclose this because I am inspired by Onifade, who did something similar. Thank you. I'm going to continue on a more organic journey of self-love and healing.
