i love when a character has something terrible happen to them and as a result they see themself as, essentially if not literally, a ghost. and so that means they only can (and have to) do what ghosts do, ie get revenge and then cease to exist. easy as that. but then halfway through this ghost vengeance they realize hey actually i might still be a human person. with human needs. that’s incredibly inconvenient, considering how much i’ve invested in this whole ghost thing
The "I failed to act on my convictions and followed a mad dictatorial regime off a cliff" sad kid starter pack:
All 3 demonstrated a penchant for kindness: Artorias left his last protection (his shield) to keep Sif safe, the research hall patients cry out for Lady Maria's touch, and Messmer sanctioned a jar infirmary and cared even for those that betrayed him.
Yet all 3 still failed to follow that kindness to its obvious conclusion: break away from the unkind commands of the current order. And all 3 ended up self-hating, suicidal, or mad because of it.
If you want to be kind, be kind. The world will be better off for it, but so will you.
Bird boy!!! This one felt really nice to paint 😌 I've been doing so much line art and cell shading lately, that it was good to remind myself I can actually render in other ways lol
one day, almost a decade ago, the m9 - specifically jester - wouldn't take no for an answer when befriending a guy who turned out to be a traitor.
now, laudna gets a second chance at a happy ending, and it’s all because a little blue tiefling said ‘i want a hug’ to a war criminal and turned him into her friend.
i will never get over jester's impact as a character. she loves essek into redemption. she loves artagan into being a god. she loves the mighty nein into becoming a family.
it's the Being Saved by the Love of Your Friends show, and she's the star.
caduceus said ‘it’s love that saves people’ but it’s jester who did it.
"The Medjai were originally supposed to be tattooed from head to toe, but Stephen Sommers vetoed it because he thought Oded Fehr was "too good-looking" to be covered up."
Horror Character Appreciation - Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay in The Mummy (1999) dir. Stephen Sommers
Im so obsessed with how the Arcadion announcer is responsive to the party’s performance. It’s a small detail but there’s something SO funny about doing your rotation mindlessly hacking away at the boss and you hear something behind you and the announcer goes YOUR TEAMMATE DIED YOUR FUCKING TEAMMATE IS ON THE F L O O R.
I think what makes Luffy different from most other shonen protags is that he's not meant to be an audience insert. You don't want to be Luffy, you want Luffy to randomly barge into your life and start throwing hands with your asshole boss.
