Well, I've already broken one of my self-imposed rules ^^;; At the 30 minute mark, this was mostly done, and I could definitely have stopped there, buuuuut... I'm glad I took the extra 15 minutes to fill in the background more :3

I honestly thought I'd be skipping the usual fall art challenge this year, but... I caved ^^;;

I'm adding a few rules for myself, in an attempt to make it more manageable with my current schedule:

No erasing, it doesn't have to be perfect

30 minute time limit per drawing (this likely means we'll be seeing a lot of creatures, as I find them easier/quicker to draw than humans)

No fussing about getting anything done by midnight. If I'm still awake, it's still the same day.

We'll see how this goes!

Hello fellow FR fan! :D I have drawn my very colorful boy!

I am super pleased with how this one came out. A recycled pudding jar, with a thin layer of tissue paper glued to it, colored with sharpies, and black details gone over with acrylic paint to be more opaque. It's so pretty when the light goes through it, and the colors reflect on the shiny buttons inside :3

This gal doesn't have a name yet (I'm pretty bad about naming non-fandragons ^^;;) but I love her :3 She's probably the fastest I've ever gone from "new breed released" to "I have a fully-completed dragon of the new breed"

I used clear plastic packaging (colored with sharpies and white acrylic paint) for her wings, fins, and the water in the foreground. It was an interesting experiment!

From the summer theme I knew early on I wanted to draw a picnic, and with your prompt of "fantasy creature AUs" I decided to make it a fairy picnic, because teeny-tiny picnic sets are adorable. That's probably a napkin they're using as a picnic blanket xD

For this one I sketched using one of those rainbow colored pencils to randomize the colors a bit, then shaded in with crayons using the colors of the sketch as a guide. Fun technique! I might do it again sometime :)

I wanted to use a watercolor background to contrast the solid colors of the craft paper, but then the felt looked a little flat so I watered down some fabric paint and used it to add a "watercolor" effect to the felt, too. Overall, I'm pleased with how this one came out! :D

Mixed Media Challenge

I've been very busy lately and not making as much art as I'd like to as a result ;_; I really want to do something fun and experimental with traditional media, so I've thought of a game — like a color palette challenge, but instead of listing color palettes I'm listing art materials (some more conventional than others).

So send me prompts with one of the following:

Character(s) from a fandom I am in (Four Swords / LoZ, Pokemon, Studio Ghibli movies, etc.)

OR a Flight Rising breed (I will draw one of my own dragons who is that breed)

OR two or more animals to make a combo creature out of
