in a world where a prominent branch of anti-trans activism focuses on fearmongering about "parents' rights," trans rights and youth rights become inextricable.

trans kids deserve to be called the right pronouns and the right name by schools and doctor's offices, regardless of "parental consent." trans kids deserve to undergo the right puberty at the same time as their cis peers, regardless of "parental consent."

the very concept of "parents' rights" is a smokescreen that enables the abuse and dehumanization of children by adults. this is bad for cis kids, too.

i am a trans guy but I don't reclaim masculinity in completeness because it's mostly rooted in eurocentrism. black queer masculinity and femininity simultaneously on the other hand is absolutely beautiful and I've been looking at a lot more examples of it, especially with ballroom culture and black gender non conforming queer culture

It is beautiful to be a part of this and put that in my art and myself. i do have to acknowledge that I'm doing the "black person unknowingly is pioneering a new perspective of queers" but like, I rather stay authentic to myself.

I love it when I'm told my OCS look like people or themselves,,, i do exaggerate proportions a lil bit, I try to keep my bodies in my art with weight and width like humans I've seen IRL. it's a middle ground that lands on stylized realism

as a kid I've always struggled to like my black traits but especially my skin, I was always darker than the other kids in my neighborhood and even in school up north I was sometimes the only black kid in the classroom. not only did it feel isolating but it was an early example of colorism I faced.

I grew into an adult that actually likes his complexion and sees the beauty in it now, especially with my stretchmarks being a lighter contrast to my dark skin.

I think it's awesome when people show genuine attraction and appreciation towards bigger bodies cuz nobody else will. the amount of times I've been accused of making blatant fetish art (which is just my regular art not kink heavy stuff) because my characters are trans and not really skinny, but especially cuz they're openly fat and disabled too(Hitch for example)

but I really do get happy and care about those who show attraction and or love to my characters cuz it makes me feel better and I've been told it makes others feel good/seen too

general observation: being a black artist is so fun and frustrating simultaneously because it does help me get my emotions out and self expression and unites me with other black folks along with giving a new perspective towards nonblack people but at the same time...

nonblack(mainly white audiences) people have a habit of seeing black art and just,,,, wanting it selfishly and erasing the black roots tied to it. historically *and* now.

I love using the example of someone wanting Salem in cottagecore(an aesthetic that very much upholds white/eurocentric supremacy) because they can't connect with my fursonas black American inspired fashion.
