Just saw a YouTube short pointing out the "mistake" of Dedra Meero claiming to have been raised in an "Imperial" kinderblock, despite being old enough to have lived through the fall of the Republic. Unlike Dedra, the Galactic Empire isn't old enough to buy revnog and peezos. So what gives?
The thing is, plenty of characters in Andor refer to the late Republic as "Imperial" in the present day of the story. For example, on Ferrix we hear that Kenari was the site of an "Imperial" mining disaster. But in Cassian's flashback, the mining disaster has clearly already happened - yet Maarva refers to the approaching threat of a Republic warship.
These inconsistencies aren't mistakes - they're worldbuilding. It illustrates that to people in the world, the distinction between the late Republic and the Empire has started to blur. Imperialism extends its influence not only in the spatial realm of planets and sectors, but also in the very minds of its subjects. Additionally, it mirrors something from the Prequels - by the end of Attack of the Clones, when we see Stormtrooper-like Clones boarding proto-Star Destroyers as the Jedi Council looks on, we are meant to understand that the Republic-Imperial transition is already well on its way.
The fact that Andor understands this, builds on it and communicates it to the viewer without banging us over the head with exposition-laden dialogue is just one example of why it's the best piece of Star Wars media produced... maybe ever? And the fact that this is lost on the Star Wars Content-Industrial Complex is disappointing, if not unexpected.
#Andor#I love this detail so much#it reminds me of the later seasons of Clone Wars#when we saw the Imperial aesthetic and process creeping in long before the Republic fell#the distinction between the end of the Republic and the beginning of the Empire doesn’t matter to the average civilian#the two are almost impossible to separate

I've been thinking about the fan theories that floated around after the first season of Andor, especially the ones that were taken up and played with in the AMCA podcast. And I'm glad that not only were all of them proven false, they were discarded in an interesting and satisfying way.
Luthen Rael is a Jedi? No, we don't get a solitary survivor, a heir of the old wise order, instead we get a sergeant in the Imperial Army who hid in his ship while his people slaughtered civilians. He was a cog in the machine, a passive participant in a war crime, and when he saves one person and runs, when he turns on the empire, he does so having been part of it.
Kleya is Cassian's sister? No, she's just another traumatized orphan from a completely different planet invaded by the Empire. It turns out the galaxy is full of those: destroyed planets, destroyed families, children who lost everything and were lucky to escape with their lives.
(Maybe Dedra is Cassian's sister? No, she's just another kid who had her parents taken by the Empire, maybe they were criminals, maybe they were "criminals", we'll never know.)
If Luthen was a Jedi, if Kleya was Cassian's sister, the galaxy would be very small. Since Luthen was an imperial sergeant gone AWOL, and Kleya grew up on another planet, the galaxy is immense, and yet full of people who suffered the same pain, and who can and will fight for the same goal. Our heroes are nobodies, anybodies, everybodies, and that is why they matter. Cassian will never find her sister, or he finds her only in death: but he stands with dozens, hell, thousands of people who might as well be his sisters and brothers.
#truly truly love this about Andor#almost every other show makes the galaxy feel tiny#because it’s about this same handful of beloved characters on a handful of recognizable planets#they all share the same memories and try to solve the same problems#I love how vast the galaxy is in Andor#I love that nobody is anybody to anyone until they happen to meet#I love that Cassian never finds his sister and the problem that started everything is never solved or even really addressed again#because fighting the Empire had to become everything for Cassian. it’s just another cost.#god I love this show

Writing an extremely self-indulgent comic where I put Thrawn and Eli in episode 6 of Andor happy pride month🔥 1/?
#fanart#Eli looks EXACTLY as pleased as he would be to be stuck at a party#especially waiting for Thrawn to get his ass here and mingle like he’s supposed to

Hey guys, I'm still alive 😁🙃
Sorry for being way less active than before — school kept me super busy.
But now that exam season is over, I finally have some time to relax, so I'm back for a few weeks 😇🥰
The "grumpy" Captain Samakro. 😁
After his hard work, later in his quarters, when he walking around his room, in his comfy sweatpants and comfy shirt with messy hair.😁😂
