Severance is about rebellion, about people who were literally created to obey finally questioning and breaking through that conditioning. There’s a storyline about someone doing a complete 180 and choosing to rebel when they realise they have a child that they’re not allowed to see, and I love that the storyline wasn’t given to the female lead, but to a previously comic male character. There’s a storyline about breaking protocol because for the first time ever you have fallen in love, in intense, overwhelming, impossible love, and I love that the storyline wasn’t given to the female lead, but to a pair of awkward old guys. The storyline about grief and guilt also goes to a guy, to the male lead.
I love that the female lead is the only one whose radicalisation comes entirely from within, the person motivating her is her, she’s not doing it for anyone else, she wants her freedom, and failing that, she wants bloody revenge even at the cost of utter self-destruction.

when loid "for the mission" forger finally cleans up his act and realizes he's in love with yor, he will face karmic retribution in the form of yor "for the act" forger
he'll be like "yor would you like to have dinner with me (I am deeply in love with you)" and she'll be like "oh yes!! I would love to take this opportunity to learn how to look more like a normal married person!!" and he'll be like "wait,"
"yor would you like to dance with me (so I can stare deeply into your eyes and hold you close)"
"of course! every married couple must know how to dance together. I must learn for the act"
"yor I am in love with you"
"wow you say it so naturally! you're such a skilled actor, I will work hard to be on your level!"
I just think loid "I've been with countless women for my missions" forger deserves to fumble and be hopelessly in love and struggle while yor stubbornly convinces herself that he's just really good at acting and she only feels all fluttery inside because she's not at his level.

did that fic where yuuko and yuuri fake date ever get an epilogue?
Oh man!! It didn't. The fic is concluded, but no epilogue. I haven't written anything for YOI in a while and am not really active in the fandom currently, though of course it holds a special place in my heart. And I lurk. I lurk quite a bit. I'm so happy that even now, years later, someone is thinking of PoL. ❤ you guys are the best.
Sadly, I doubt I'll be warming up my YOI writing chops and doing a whole epilogue anytime soon. Even if I did write one it may also be jarring since I've been writing some stylistically different work, haha.
If someone has specific questions I could probably write up casual replies in an ask!

Hi all!!
A bit of a belated Thanksgiving post from me, but I realized that Just Hold On (We’re Going Home) passed the 10k kudos mark at some point recently. AHHHHHH wow thank you friends!
While I’m not super active in the YOI community now (or really active on AO3 or Tumblr) I do lurk and I do appreciate every single kudos and comment. Some of my fics for other fandoms are also passing kudos milestones and in general I’ve been blessed. Just. Thanks y’all. I do still write and I’m sure I’ll be posting future fics at some point but my life’s been an (exciting) whirlwind so I don’t have anything major in the works. I am alive though! Surprise!
Thank you for many happy years and all your support.

It's here!
The first episode of Keep It Steady is finally here!
Show summary:
Seventeen-year-old Zach is not a moral crusader. He's a snarky, well-liked stoner who attends detention about as often as Algebra. Unfortunately, he's also a closeted bisexual in 2005, in a town where even the potheads are conservatives. When Gabe, the head of the school's Social Justice Club, suggests they pretend to date in order to take the heat off two female students who are actually in love, Zach knows it's the worst idea he's ever heard. Then he does it anyway.

STOLEN WORK: Please be aware that the user dipityaugust on AO3 has stolen my work, Hello, Heartbreaker and is refusing to take it down.
It’s incredibly unfortunate that my return to Tumblr has to be precipitated by the fact that the user, dipityaugust, on AO3 has 100% STOLEN my fic, Hello, Heartbreaker, which I wrote for the Teen Wolf fandom way back in 2013. They have plagiarised it and posted it as their own in the BTS fandom, claiming it as their own work.
This is absolutely reprehensible. Fanwork creators do our work for free, and to have it abused like this is incredibly demoralising, frustrating, and upsetting.
I hate to do this, but if you can, please share this post so it gets around and more people are aware that this user has done something so abhorrent.
Thank you!

So episode 9 happened. Yes. I passed out from sugar overdose!
There’s been something about Yuri!!! On Ice that I’ve noticed here and there but never really thought to make a proper post about, but two instances in the end of ep 9 made me decide ‘heck, why not point it out in case others haven’t noticed!’.
So, the ‘something’ I really enjoy seeing in YOI is how much focus the creators put into the characters’ placements. Naturally, it is an anime about figure skating and the body’s movement speaks a lot, but off the ice, simple positioning says so much. Obvious stuff like hugs and sitting close together sure, but the more subtle stuff is really lovely when noticed as well.
I feel like they pay attention to foot placement for example.
Tumblr media
Here much earlier on in the eps, this shot was looked at as somewhat provocative. Viktor had one leg closely placed in between both of Yuuri’s. But if you look at it another way, it reeks of power imbalance. Viktor’s only got one foot in (like hello metaphorically one foot in– not certain yet–testing the waters), while Yuuri’s got both of his. Yuuri’s feet are also just placed there without purpose while Viktor’s is directing and somehow commanding. Can you see it? And it’s quite clearly Viktor (’s foot) trying to get closer to Yuuri, it doesn’t even matter context wise who moved, they hold this shot still for a bit and you can see it.
Tumblr media
Then we have this shot from episode 9, and it’s a whole other ball game. Both Yuuri and Viktor have both their feet in, and neither is overwhelming the other in terms of positioning. The feet are placed closely together, but very evenly. Yuuri has one of Viktor’s legs gently placed between both of his, and Viktor also has one of Yuuri’s between both of his. No power imbalance here, no one person walking ahead of the other, no uncertainty. I also feel like pointing that when compared to the other shot (and many more in the show) specifically, their feet aren’t donned in skates. This is a purely off the ice interaction, as people instead of skaters. Seriously, I got all emotional looking at damn shoes when this scene popped up.
Another biggie that jumped at me quite simply were how the characters themselves are placed in terms of the space around them.
Tumblr media
Please look at this shot back from ep 1. There is a very obvious blue barrier rope running along and so clearly dividing Yuuri and Viktor. They are on opposite sides, not even facing each other (heck Yuuri’s walking away–though at least Viktor is looking at him) and on top of that, there are a ton of other people around. On Viktor’s side, on Yuuri’s side, the creators have made the effort to include other people in their divided world. And a decent amount of them are looking, as though viewing some spectacle. Not private at all.
Tumblr media
Now this shot. This shot. I repeat THIS SHOT. It’s a beaut.
Blue barrier ropes are there once more, but now Yuuri and Viktor are on the same side. Not just on the same side, but on the inside. They are between two sets of safety rails, completely blocking the outside world from their space. Where they’re standing in quite literally says  ‘no entry’. No one is walking there, or is going to walk there, that space is all their own. Those that you can see in the airport are out of focus and have their backs to Yuuri and Viktor; it’s intimate and private. Guys, they’re literally in their own world. It’s just them and Makkachin. Makkachin who isn’t pawing at Viktor, and he’s not pawing at Yuuri, no, he’s in a place where he’s reaching for both of them at once. And of course compared to the parallel scene in ep 1, they’re facing each other, they’re hugging, their feet are all power-balanced and all that jazz too, but seriously, the spatial detail of their positioning..
This stuff actually pops up a lot I feel in YOI, gdi I love this show. Every week, it gets better and better gdi.

Yes to all this, but also do your research and help your manager (or HR) help you by recognizing what offenses cross the legal line and by collecting evidence when you can.
Unfortunately, someone being a jerk or even borderline creepy is not usually a fireable offense unless they are discriminating against a protected class (race, gender) or provably threatening you. I have witnessed some awful people get away with things because when the time came people were relying on their memories or more general impressions of "this person creeps me out/upsets me." Even the best boss will struggle to actually help you without concrete examples that demonstrate them crossing a legal line. Obviously still tell your boss/hr about what I'd call "unproveable" issues if you're comfortable enough to do so! But recognize your heavy hitters when they happen, and record. That. Proof. In any way you can. And get yourself witness backup. Pictures. Emails. Text yourself with timestamps and build your case. Hopefully things don't get bad enough to use these things-- but if they do, you've got more than your word against theirs when the time comes.
I am begging you to document workplace bullshit
This turned into a small rant and so I’m putting it in its own post here:
You are never going to get yourself in trouble at work by privately writing down the details of bullshit that happens at work. Dates, times, names, context.
In a note on your personal phone, or in a notebook you don’t leave at work, somewhere other than on a work laptop or work email (if applicable), keep a record of things that are outright fuckery or even just don’t seem right to you. Maybe they’ll be few and far between and it will never come up. In which case, great! But if it’s six months later and that creepy coworker has slowly escalated their personal questions and pressuring offers to drive you home, you are GREATLY benefited from having something written down on paper with specifics to bring to HR or to your lawyer.
I know there is a temptation to hope things go away, which means you won’t need to do anything. But if you come to your boss later saying “they’ve been doing this for a long time”, and you only have a vague recollection of how and when the abuse started, you’ve left yourself at a huge disadvantage.
Please. It doesn’t have to all be witnessed by others, peer reviewed, written out in full sentences. Just keep notes of what happened, when, and who was there. And keep that documentation to yourself. I, your Work Mom, will be proud of you.

I’m not on tumblr because I really like it necessarily, but I am a twenty-something young professional in a really formal and prestigious field, and I woke up this morning and wrote a draft of like 400 words of meta about a cartoon character, and like, where the fuck else am I supposed to post that? Facebook? Twitter? You can’t post about anime on facebook. People use their actual photos there. I need somewhere to be weird in peace where there aren’t any employers.
